Aqua's visit to the Hellfire Club (open)

[Aqua]

Emily scowled a little, getting the full picture, or so she thought. "That's not comfortable, I guess," she said. "And I'm probably talking very slow right now?"

[Pietro Maximoff]

"No slower than anyone else," ::Pietro said. He could understand her as she spoke, and without letting his speed get the better of him, he could accept conversation and the world around him for the pace it took.::

[Aqua]

"A good answer," Emily smiled. "Telling anything and nothing at the same time. At the listener's discretion."

[Pietro Maximoff]

"And what is your discretion?" ::Pietro asked. Few chose to comment on how he spoke, but she clearly had a point of view, at the very least.::

[Aqua]

"I think your answer told me nothing," Emily said honestly. "Like, if I asked you how tall you were and you told me you were not taller than most people... something like that."

[Pietro Maximoff]

::Pietro took another sip of his vodka and took the criticism for what it was. Trying to explain how he experienced the world around him was not something he had done since childhood. But she was sincere, and he would make the attempt.:: "You are, but on a level, I know you are not, and I try to compensate with patience."

[Aqua]

"Ah, okay," Emily nodded and took a small drink from her glass. "That's what I needed to know."

[Pietro Maximoff]

::Pietro took another swig from his vodka and set the bottle down.:: "And your water abilities, how much can you do?"

[Aqua]

Pietro was in for a long list, Emily thought. "Well, apart from what you've seen already," she said, "let's see... I can extract water out of anything it's contained in. Use a very thin high-pressured blade of water to cut things, so I, thankfully, don't have to use knives or anything." She smiled a little. "I don't break cups or bottles with some liquid like tea or juice when I drop them because I can slow them down with the water they have inside. Sensing somebody's presence around because of water in their body. More recently, I've learned that I can use that body water to heal wounds by pulling body cells back together. But that takes a lot of time and my head really hurts afterwards." She paused. "Well... and an umbrella, of course." There were also small things she used water for in her everyday life, but she decided that what she had already said pretty much summed things up.

[Pietro Maximoff]

::Pietro nodded, listening to her laundry list of ablities. The new students were mor gifted than he and the others had been at their age.:: "Impressive."

[Aqua]

"You think so?" Emily asked. "I usually look at it that way: it's what nature has given me by accident, so it's not really my achievement..."

[Pietro Maximoff]

"If someone scores well on an aptitude test, you don't find that impressive?" ::Pietro asked. He'd been raised to view potential as importantly as achievement. The scope of her abilities gave her enormous potential, and nature-born or not, they were hers.::

[Aqua]

"I do," Emily agreed. "I can see your point... Okay, perhaps I just undervalue my own input in what I can do."

[Pietro Maximoff]

::There was no question that she did not recognize her own value. Pietro resolved to teach her confidence; someone as gifted as she was should not feel inferior.:: "Nurture it, and say to yourself, 'I am Emily, and one day I will control the seas.'"

[Aqua]

Emily gave a little smile at that. "Do you think I should?" she asked him, being absolutely serious about the question. "Should aim at having such great power?" That was so unlike her - aspire to be powerful, influential, and significant. She wondered whether it was really worth it in the end.
