(( After : A Trip to the Bayous; A New Clue )) They drove to where the master who dealt with Gambit's costume had his workshop. It was a rather old building, something in between a warehouse and a repair shop, and neither the outside nor the inside of the building helped to identify its purpose and what it dealt with - judging by the assortment of old and new things, devices, books, it could as well be a tiny flea market.
The master, a man in his 50's, was already waiting for them. Gambit didn't introduce him and Shade to one another, keeping everyone's identities secret.
"We need a woman's costume," he said, sitting down on a random chair as if he were about to watch some kind of show. "Light, tight fit, moderately protected, not too many accessories."
The master looked at Shade, studying her figure. "I'll take measurements, then," he said at once in a business-like tone and walked to his table to get a tape measure. "Main focus?" he asked in the mean time.
"Runnin', climbin'," Gambit said. "No sound, no gloss, a trackin' device."

Shade raised her eyebrow slightly at the ´tracking device´, a remark about that on her lips, but didn´t find it necessary to get into bantering in front of a stranger, therefore saved all possible jokes (and she could think about three immediately) for later, possibly.
She felt like adding her two cents to it, but Gambit had already covered most of it. There were moments, when she was strangely aware of how much better he knew her than vice versa right now with her memory only having just started to return. It felt a bit like him reading her mind now and then, knowing what she would do, like or dislike. She spread her arms when the master started to take measure. "Nothing metal." she added. She didn´t really know why, but at some point she had learned that wearing metal could be a big disadvantage. She didn´t remember why, but was confident that soon she would and trusted her gut feeling on this.

Gambit could guess where this particular request originated, but he didn't comment on it at the moment.
"Boots, gloves?" the master asked while he was measuring and jotting down the numbers.
"Non slip soles, low heels," Gambit replied. "Chere, I dunno, ya want boots or somethin' else?"

"Boots are fine," Shade said. "as long as they are comfortable and flexible around the ankles." It has become a habit for her over the years to wear either shoes or boots that had a low heel and were comfortable, something that no doubt was shaped by her powers. "Thin gloves," she also specified. Skin to skin contact, even though not necessary, made the use of her powers easier, but a little bit of material inbetween was not much trouble either. Better than leaving fingerprints, Shade, she thought, instantly frowning at where that thought had come from.

"Hood, cape, collar, head protection?" the master kept asking. Many of his clients, Gambit included, preferred to have something that protected their neck and parts of head and face. But then Gambit had asked for moderate protection on this piece, which needed some elucidation.

Shade tried to think practical. If it ever came to a situation where she would have to fight or defend herself, it was best to not have anything that was in the way. That cancelled a cape, even though there was something quite cool about that. "A collar, yes" she said, nodding. Protecting her neck seemed important and practical without being annoying. "And I would like the gloves to be unconnected to the rest."

Gambit glanced at her, nodding with approval. She seemed to be picking up on what was necessary, and he liked that. He tried to think logically, too. What would Shade need, hypothetically? Weapons, if she did pick to have some, which he doubted at the moment, would be incorporated later, but now it was time to first think about less noticeable things - things that would be a part of the costume. He had already mentioned a tracking device - usually this went on the chest or on the neck, and he'd explain the reason for this to Shade later. He doubted she would need knives, but perhaps she'd say yes to a couple of picklocks, this needed a small pocket somewhere on the arm or on the leg. No flashlight, and her equipment would generally have to be kept to a minimum: to reduce the weight of the costume, to decrease the discomfort, to make sure that, if she went invisible, there'd be as few other objects as possible for her to vanish along with herself.
"Four small pockets," he said. "One on each limb." He could imagine her running, jumping off a wall, hiding in a dark corner, avoiding being caught - what would she need for that? Nothing, except for her powers and a reliable costume to protect her from rough surfaces and cold temperatures. That was about it. Besides, he wasn't aiming at making her a professional fugitive. He merely wanted to provide her with protection for some half an hour of making her escape in case she ever needed it. Hopefully not.

"They should have buttons or something like that. No zippers." Shade said, more and more picking up on her own suggestions. "buttons or something else that causes no sound when I open it." There would be no help in using her powers when her hiding place could be given away through the sound of a zipper.

"What, ya plan t' undress behind enemy lines?" Gambit joked, wondering what image she had of this in her head.

Shade gave a short snort, narrowing her eyes at him. "The pockets." she drawled in a tone as if explaining something to a kid. "I was more thinking about there being no need in soundless boots and soundless costume if it has a noisy zipper for the pockets," she said. "but I´ll keep your suggestion in mind of course." She raised her eyebrows, tossing him a look.

"Tiny lil' tight pockets," Gambit raised his hand to show with two fingers just how tiny. "No need for zippers. But yeah, if ya need bigger ones, sho, just ask. Also, if ya feel like ya need somethin' special in it, might as well mention it, too."

"All right," Shade said. "Tiny ones at the sleeves, slightly bigger ones at the upper thighs, maybe..the size of my palm." If she was supposed to get something that she couldn´t help but associate with a superhero costume, it better be practical. "Not sure about the content yet."

"We'll talk about it," Gambit assured her. At any rate, this was only the basic outline of the costume, and they'd have time to make any necessary changes, including the design and everything else.

"Good." Shade said with a nod, holding out an arm as the master indicated her to, so he could measure it. "What about the colours and the design?" she asked. "Can I see some drafts before the costume is made?" In her mind, things were starting to form a mental picture and she definitely wanted to avoid something like orange.

"The question is, can you make some drafts before the costume is made," the master put in, putting away his tape measure. "That, or I can show you some current pieces that I'm working on, you'll get the general idea."
