It was certainly not her place to speak bad of his family, even though by what Iggy had let slip by now they didn´t seem to be the nicest of lots and part of Shade growled at that, urging her to comment. However, she didn´t. "Well, your family´s not here now, right?" she said, shifting a little to prop her weight back on her hands. "which means you´re free to come up with different ideas, see how those work."

" I see your point" he said crossing his arms over his chest " But every time I think it makes sense the stuff my family taught me comes bashing down the door of reason ,crushing up your idea, and spitting at me on the way out"

"That´s understandable." Shade said. "We grow up the way we do and believe in the things we´re told. Until we grow up we barely wonder what´s right and what´s wrong. We merely accept." She was maybe a bad example there, since her family was accepting and tolerant towards her mutation, but there were those things that one only considered later when one started to build an own frame of values and morals. Hers was certainly wider than that of her parents when it came to certain things.

Iggy smiled " I see what you mean. When your little everything seems new bright clean, when you grow old only does the world show it's true colors..."

"Yeah." Shade agreed, stretching her legs. "More shades between the black and white as well." She was aware of the pun even though it had not been intentional. It was kind of a motto of hers: things were seldomly just black or just white, there was always an in between and she saw herself in that area as well. It was one of the reasons she had never joined the X Men. It would have meant devoting too much into one direction and even though that seemed more desirable than the Brotherhood on the other end of the scale, she did not feel too comfortable with the thought.

Shade mirrored the grin. "Well, all the better then." she said. "more variety, more fun."

Iggy grinned " I never would have guessed that people would have allowed a place like this to stay open." he said happily

Shade shrugged a little, her gaze straying for a moment. "Well, there are certainly some who don´t like the idea" she said. "but in a country who was founded on principles that all men are born equal... well, would look kinda dumb to shut down a mutant school huh?" Of course, her ideas were not that naive. She had experienced two attacks on the school, she had witnessed that it was possible for militant extremists to chase mutants like animals in Manhattan during the bright day. No, she´d never forget this. But it didn´t seem a good idea to scare the boy. He seemed to come from an untolerating background where he had gotten little understanding, maybe little affection.

Iggy glanced up at the gym ceiling wondering for a moment. " Sometimes I wish I was born here instead of Germany..." he said gently, almost thinking out loud. " That way I would be able to live here...."

"I don´t think that a country makes a difference", Shade said. "It´s attitude that does."

"I guess so." Shade said. "I doubt there´s much of a difference when it comes to acceptance now or here."

Iggy glanced at her for a moment " I guess some places are just stuck in the past..." he muttered

"Places?" Shade asked. "Or families?" To her it sounded whether he was holding a grudge more against his family than against a place, but that was maybe just her perception.
