Gambit just laughed quietly at her mentioning of the X-Men's uniforms. "Protection would be good," he agreed nevertheless. "Invisible protection is da best."

Shade chuckled. "I can assure you that." she said. She knew perfectly well by now that her invisibility did not protect her from everyone. There could always be mutants sensing her in the one or other way, according to what powers they had and the sentinels had infrared sensors or whatever which was no pleasant thought either. She put her arms around Gambit´s waist to hold on when he started the bike.

Gambit smirked and started the bike, heading off to Westchester again.
... He parked the bike about half a mile from the first planned location, hiding it in a shadow along a nicely dark suburban road. Taking his helmet off, he got off the bike and waited for Shade to get off as well.

Shade took off the helmet and climbed off. The area around was quiet, almost no lights behind the windows, no people on the streets at this time of the night. She felt a very faint tingle in her fingertips as some slight excitement kicked in. She had the feeling her senses were more alert than usual. "Tell me in case we need some cover." she said.

"Meanin' I gotta keep close to ya all de time?" Gambit raised his brows. "Dat ain't why workin' in pairs is called workin' in pairs." To tell the truth, that wasn't even working in pairs - he couldn't consider Shade a full-scale workmate, in fact, he expected her to be more of a hindrance for a normal theft, though it was going to be easier than normal, so he didn't object to her participation.

"Right, I didn´t think about that." Shade said, shaking her head slightly. "No cover for you then." They started to walk towards the house where they had seen the jaguar stop which was still a bit down the road.

"It's in de garage, chere," Gambit observed when they reached the house. "Ya wanna try a garage?"

Shade looked around. Everything seemed quiet, no light behind any of the windows. Whoever lived here seemed vast asleep. Part of her was tensing inwardly for an alarm or light to go off any second, but the knowledge that, should that happen, her powers would be a help to escape, eased her slight nervousness. She looked at Gambit. A garage lock couldn´t be much different from a door lock, she guessed. Still, she remembered well, how long it had taken her last time. "How much time do I have to try?" she asked.

"Oh, you thought I'd let ya try open de garage door?" Gambit asked. "It's automatic. No, I meant ya wanna try a garage, or we go find another car dat isn't locked in?"

Shade thought for a moment. "Let´s try the garage." she said, putting on a pair of light gloves Gambit had given her earlier. "Means once we´re in there won´t be any neigbours prying." She was trying to think what would be safest for them. A garage might mean protection from sight and if it was one that was connected directly to the house and someone woke and came to investigate while they were there well... that meant they wouldn´t be cornered that easily and if they were, all they had to do was to keep silent and use powers.

"Okay," Gambit shrugged. He pulled Shade more towards the nearest tree. "Dere's de switchboard, top left of de garage wall. Dere's a garden chair. Here's a screwdriver an' plyers. Here's de headset," he passed her every small tool - far smaller than those usually used at homes - as he spoke, finally switching the headset with a mic to the right frequency and passing it to her. "Try not t' be seen. I'll give ya directions from here."
Burglary and larceny. This was getting more and more interesting.

Her heart was going a little faster than usual now and she could tell that her hands were colder than they normally were. It wasn´t bad consciousness kicking in, more like excitement and faint nervousness. Somehow she was glad the shirt she wore was a dark one. Shade hadn´t expected him to give her all these things at once and it made her feel challenged besides the slight nervousness. She adjusted the headset, pocketed the crew driver and kept the plyers in one hand. Then she looked towards the garage. From where they were there was some open space to cross, maybe they had an ultrared light that would react to her body heat. The garage itself was relatively protected from sight.
Shade vanished and walked towards the garage to only reappear when she was standing under the control panel. She had a look around and could spot noone, not even Gambit who was hidden from her sight but could no doubt very well watch her. "Okay." she said in a low voice, getting the garden chair. "What do I do now?"

"Now ya disappear, an' for chrissakes, stay dat way as much as ya can," Gambit told her. "Get a chair an' get up on it to open de switchboard."

Shade vanished at once and climbed on the chair which brought her in eye level with the control panel. She had a lot of practise with her own invisibility as long as it concerned all of her body so she knew she would be able to work the screw driver without letting her hands appear. She took it out of her pocket and made it appear. She would have no feel for the screws with an invisible screw driver she knew. She undid the screws one by one, putting them into her pocket which made them vanish as well, then took off the lid. It took her a moment because the only light she had came from some street lamp. "Done." she said.

"Now dere's two insulated wires wit' contact points to de right. Top one opens, bottom one closes. Pick one an' use plyers to force it towards junction point." It was a rough way of doing it, and there were ways to avoid forcing and thus avoid traces, but that would take more time and experience and meant finer tasks that Shade couldn't do without practicing and Gambit couldn't do without all of his nerve endings being restored.
