It sounded only too logical. Picking a car whose owner maybe was just on his or her way through would be more difficult. Shade nodded. "Okay." she said. "Any other sort of cars I should avoid for some reason?"

"Not really," Gambit said. "Well, unless it's tuned up to de point where it cannot be disguised afterwards..."

"Sure." Shade said, agreeing. Again, this sounded logical. It was completely unknown territory for her, making her a little nervous, but her curiosity and slight excitement at the idea was by far more dominant. "How will that work?" she asked. "The disguising I mean? What do we do so there are no traces afterwards?" She knew Gambit probably knew exactly what to do and had a very clear picture about what to do so the previous owner would have no chance to trace them. And that sort of details interested her right now.

"You'll see," Gambit winked. He got off the grass. "Well, let's go."

Shade got up and took his hand. The sun was low in the sky already, but Central Park was more crowded than it had been when they had arrived. Most likely because a number of New Yorkers had by now joined the tourist crowds for a little free time after work. Shade found her thoughts in an excited uproar. She had absolutely no real knowledge about cars, but was already skipping through mental images about what sort of a car to chose.

"Let's go over it one more time," Gambit said, getting on the bike and holding his helmet. "Ya choose, we follow it, we memorize de location, we go back an' repeat. Up t' five times."

Shade nodded and took her helmet. She was not nervous, not yet. That might change once they had actually chosen a car and were going to steal it. Right now, she felt more of a strange curiosity, similar to the one she had felt when they had nicked that boat. It was unlike Shade a year ago. "So we get a number of cars and can chose later which will be easy and which we better not try?" she stated more than asked before climbing onto the bike behind Gambit.

"Precisely," Gambit said and put his helmet on, then started the bike.

Shade fastened the helmet and held on to Gambit when he started the bike. Unconsciously her eyes were already scanning the traffic and a very brief thought flickered through her mind of how some people would react if they knew what she was up to. She wiped it away.

Gambit pulled out into the busy street, keeping a low speed - not just for himself not to make any movement mistakes in the traffic flow, but this time also for Shade to orient herself and find what she wanted.

Shade took some time to look around. She had never done anything like this before and for a strange reason felt like a kid in an oversized toy store - too much choice. First she kept looking for specific colours; dark blue or deep red or silver, then she realised that colours were secondary: they could change that later and maybe that was even a good idea to disguise the car. So she just looked out for car models, not knowing much about them. After some minutes when they had to stop in front of a traffic light, a car close to them caught her attention. "What about this one?" she asked over the helmet interco, knowing Gambit could hear her. "The one to the left right in front of the traffic light. The blue one in front of the cab." Only then she remembered checking the number plate; it was New York.

"Okay," Gambit replied.
He didn't change his direction; there would be times for funny turns and u-turns later to mask their position, and so far he simply held the car in sight, keeping the same place and speed.

Shade noticed he did not directly tail the car - another detail she would probably not have known but which was also logical. She kept her eyes to the front mainly, glancing at the car now and then out of curiosity who the driver was, but tried to remain unsuspicious. Probably this was something useless to do anyways as both of them were wearing helmets and the streets were crowded anyways.

Almost carried by the flow of traffic, they left Manhattan, crossed over into Bronx and followed the car out into Westchester. There were less cars there, and Gambit increased the distance between them and the aim.

Shade caught herself thinking that if the driver went somewhere where they would be clear to make out in the rear mirror or visible following - although Gambit probably knew some tricks not to make things obvious - it would be easier to track the car secretly if her powers were developed more. She did not doubt that if she kept up her training like this, she would be able to vanish them both and the bike, but she was too weak for that yet. And besides, maybe that wasn´t a good idea either. Moving invisibly needed practise and an invisible bike was a dangerous thing. She chuckled inwardly because her inner voice that had been scolding her for what they were doing now and then had fallen silent.
