"No," Emily said. "I don't suppose I ever will, too. Perhaps I'd say my reason is to simply exist; anything else is decided and acted out without my conscious participation."

::That put a bit more into the hands of the universe than Pietro was willing to do. You had no say in your own birth and how your parents raised you, so why not sculpt the rest of your life as much as you could? He sipped from his vodka again, using what he considered an apt quote.:: "Ours not the question why. Ours but to live and die?"

Emily vaguely recognized the quote, but not further than it being something from Victorian poetry; she had been far too inattentive in her Literature classes to remember things like that. She didn't ask, though, preferring to keep it in mind and do her own research later; it would help her memorize it better.
In his words, she heard that he viewed her as someone who lived blindly through her life without bothering to ask, doubt and state her point. Not entirely untrue, but still she felt it was partly unjust. "I do what I can in my own little role in life," she said. "I just don't expect my actions to alter the course of evolution on Earth. On that scale, I'm just a particle of the current."

::Phrased that way, Pietro agreed with her. The result of living with a man who viewed himself as a God among insects left Pietro with no delusions of grandieur. All he wanted out of life was to do what he could, and if he had his way, he would have lived the rest of his days traveling between small European villages. She was an intelligent young woman; it only added to her potential.:: "I like that perspective."

"Thank you," Emily gave a small smile, blushing slightly. Pietro was reserved about his emotions and she felt he weighted his every opinion and only gave his evaluation when it was thoroughly thought through and deserved by the other party; that meant he did appreciate her point of view she had just expressed, and his appreciation meant a lot to her.

::Pietro inclined is head slightly, to let her know that he spoke the truth, and she was deserving of his respect for her perspective. He noticed the blush, but assumed it was part of her shyness.
With a last sip, he finished his vodka and set down the empty bottle. He gestured at her drinks.:: "Can I get you a refill or something to eat?"

"No, thank you," Emily said, although she knew she was rejecting a chance to spend some more time talking to him. "I mostly wanted to see what this place was about; now that I can put an imaginary check mark on it, maybe I will just head back to the mansion."

"Would you mind an escort?" ::Pietro asked. He had been on his way back to the mansion when he had spied her entering in the first place.::

"Not at all," Emily gave a grateful smile. To her, the boredom of traveling between the city and the mansion could only be lessened by her MP3-player or some company, and while she had the former with her most of the time, the latter was a rare occasion. She stood up, ready to head towards the door. "That is, if you're sure you feel like taking a trip by a train."

"That's fine," ::Pietro replied. Trains reminded him of Europe, which was the last time he had used one. Since returning to America, he traveled by car or foot. He picked up the package he had purchased before entering, and held it in his lap.:: "Whenever you are ready."

Emily walked to the door, throwing small glances at Pietro. Now that she had visited the Hellfire Club, having first been a bit frightened off by its name, she felt better about herself, and was especially grateful to Pietro for allowing her to feel the club atmosphere with the help of a friendly conversation, which merely sitting there by herself staring around would hardly have done for her.

::Pietro tucked the package under his arm and followed her to the door. As he pushed it open, he glanced at her, then the street ahead.:: "You can get us to the train station from here?"

Emily wasn't completely sure what he meant by 'get'. Surely he wasn't implying at some curious application of her powers? "I know my way back, if that's what you mean," she replied cautiously.

"Yes, navigate," ::Pietro said. He traveled best on foot, and when you can, and have, run over water, traditional routes held little meaning. He could take her that way, but he doubted she would enjoy it.:: "Lead the way."

Emily turned towards the street that would lead them to the train station. "Do you think it's the right thing, to make a mutant-only club?" she asked him.
