The two men tried to get away but the wounded one soon fell down, unable to walk. They were screaming something to each other, unintelligible over the sounds of shots.
The aircraft advanced, moving further along the street, seemingly intent to chase and finish off those who'd run away.

Shade could feel her powers drain her, more than she was used to. Something, she realised, was different, even though she couldn´t tell what it was. She had run into a side street only to find it a dead end. Something had happened here, an explosion probaby that had destroyed one fo the buildings, blasting the debris across the entire street, blocking the way. She had her back pressed against a wall and peeked into the main street, staggering and noticing only then that her feet or nothing else was making a sound. She scowled. Something was off with her powers, but she didn´t dare let them slip. It was like they felt more intense, making her body tingle slightly, like a bowstring.
Carefully, she glanced around the main street corner. There was a commotion all around, with Alex and the others scrambling away to one side and a large aircraft closing in from the other. She had not seen Morph earlier, therefore making no connection between him and the large dog running into her direction.

Only after Alex reached the safety of the nearby walls, did he look back to see what was happening to others. He saw a large dog (what the hell?..) run by and then he noticed the military men across the street. They tarried, for some reason... one of them was wounded? Before Alex could try and help them by providing cover with his powers against the aircraft, the machine fired another shot, killing both men instantly.
He was breathing hard, desperately trying to think of a way out for himself. It was probably reasonable to hide inside the building so as not to be detected, but Shade and Violet?.. He had to catch up with them.
He ran through the ruined floor, passing through empty doorways and dusty rooms of what used to be shops and small businesses - very little of their insides remained to give any clue now. He was hoping to cross the building and get out on the other street, unnoticed by the Hawk.

As soon as he turned around the corner, thinking himself hidden from the view, Morph returned to his human shape. As he looked around, he couldn't find anyone anymore.

Shade experienced something that was unfamiliar to her. She had no idea why it was that way, but her powers were draining her. Badly. Her stealth had never been something she had trained a lot and so, like an untrained muscle, it had so far stayed weak, enabling her to use it for a few moments at a time only. She felt a painful tug the moment the aircraft flew past and was instantly glad that the debris and the wall was hiding her for now, because her instincts kicked in, sensing danger. Faint or let slip! She decided for the latter, reappearing, hidden from view and detection of the aircraft for now which was firing down the street and gaining distance for the moment and for a moment her legs gave in and she slid down against the rocky wall she was hiding against, giving a small yelp when she scratched her elbow. Too much exposed skin.
Only then, when checking her arm and looking ahead, panting, she noticed she wasn´t alone. A few steps from here, there was man she didn´t know. She stared at him.

Alex almost made it through the entire floor when the aircraft noticed him passing past empty windows - it was hard not to, with all the energy burning around his hands that were in constant readiness for the attack, he was blasting hot in infrared.
The Hawk shot, collapsing the outer corner of the wall, just near which Shade and Morph were standing, and the upper floors collapsed down on top of Alex. He noticed it in time and blasted plasma at full power upwards, trying to disintegrate the concrete that was falling onto him in hundreds of tons. The explosion was massive, but directed upwards.

When the woman appeared in his view suddenly, Morph was startled. He looked at her for a moment, then opened his mouth for a greeting or a question to orient himself in what was going on, right before the explosing from inside the building near which they were standing nearly deafened him.
Without thinking much, he dashed towards her, grabbing her by the hand, and pulled her away from the already collapsing building, starting to run again.

Usually Shade would have used her powers, not only on herself but probably also on the stranger, but she was too exhausted from the stealth to use it right now and also, she was still under somewhat of a shock for Violet´s sudden disappearance, so she didn´t. Couldn´t have even if she wanted. Not now. Instead she tried to keep up with the guy, running as fast as she could while part of the building collapsed behind them, a piece of debris missing her narrowly.

Alex kept blasting, disintegrating the matter above him in hopes to save his life by removing it all. The temperature rose exponentially, the air was rippling in glossy waves, and it was only too late that Alex, coughing and losing the grip on reality, understood that he had burned all oxygen around him, and no matter that he could explode the concrete floors falling on top of him if he couldn't breathe.
As his lungs grasped painfully in the last attempt to get some air, he was returned to the Hellfire Club.

"Jesus, it's following us," Morph grumbled, continuing to run. He was tired; he could sense that the woman was, too. Randomly he turned into one of the nearby buildings, attempting to hide and go further inside, to get lost in the labyrinth of walls and staircases.

Something suddenly dived to the surface of her mind. When you´re running from something, take care to keep an escape open. Don´t just run into places that probably have no way out on the other side. Make sure there are doors, windows or something that will not keep you trapped.
A lesson she had learned way back in one of her rare Danger Room sessions with Gambit in which she had been angry with herself after letting a simulation sentinel run her into a dead end.
But did they have a choice? She could feel her heart hammering, her breath going fast, her sides hurting from the run and mostly from the drain that her powers caused. She knew she needed rest, but rest meant just stopping, meant surrender, meant probably death. And she didn´t know what was going on here and how real all of this was, which made her fear all the more real.
Grabbing on to the stranger´s hand, she followed him into the building, running as fast as she could, praying there was a way out somewhere.

Morph ran further into the building. It was darker inside; he morphed his eyes to cat-like eyes to be able to catch more light and see better.
He heard the shots outside; probably the aircraft followed them and was now shooting at the front of the building. There had to be a basement entrance or something that could hide them below the ground! Desperately he was trying to find something that would resemble it.

Things were getting really hectic now. Shade still felt drained, like after a long run, but it didn´t sound like the aircraft or who- or whatever commanded it, was giving up. When she saw the stranger change his eyes, she concluded it had to be something about his mutation and that gave her an idea. It was kind of risky, especially since she still felt tired after unknowingly using her stealth, but while they were running, her hand still grabbed by that of the stranger, she let her other hand run along the wall, trying to concentrate so whereever she ran, small bits off wall extending around where her hand was touching it at the moment, became invisible, allowing her to see what lay behind the wall. Rooms, empty, abandoned, one, two, then a third. Then there was something else: a hall. Probably a former storage room or something of the like.
"There´s a staircase on the other side of this wall." she called, her voice sounding hurried. "A staircase leading down from a large kind of hall. Look out for a door so we can get to it. Maybe we can hide underground."

As the front part of the building shattered and parts of the wall crumbled behind them, Kevin was finally able to locate the required door with his companion's help.
He pushed it; it was open, though rusted and hard to push, but eventually they squeezed through and, indeed found the staircase.

Shade halted for a moment, then flinched when another loud crashing sound indicated half the building being shattered. The aircraft or whatever it was, must have detected them and be trying to break down the entire building to get to them. There as no way out but down.
Her heart beat so fast she was scared it had to be audible metres away. They will get in here... she thought frantically. They will get here, get us, hunt us down like animals. Us. Not just me. Another one led into a trap where I´m standing.
She knew she had to decide. Stand and wait, or run. She decided for the latter, making her way down the staircase, praying it would not lead into a deadend but into something that at least gave them a slight chance to escape.
