Violet nodded. "I don't know how we got here, but we're here, so we're going to need to figure out a food source and establish some sort of shelter. We have no way of knowing if there are other people here, so everyone stay sharp." She had another thought and turned toward what was left of the building behind her. She pointed her finger at a piece of debris on a ledge and increased its mass enough for it to fall. It did. "Okay, I guess our powers work here," she said.

At that, Alex tried his powers; they worked, so that was at least some relief. "I think it would be useful to find a high vantage point; maybe get up on one of these buildings and take a look around the city. I don't know how we got here," he chuckled, "but there's gotta be a way back."

Shade briefly tried her powers as well, vanishing and reappearing in a smooth ripple of her invisibility and it was a calming thought that at least this was working. "There have to be others somewhere around here." she said. "there were more people at the Hellfire, they have to be somewhere." Where were all the others? Were they the only ones that had been taken here? Or had the others somehow...gotten lost on the way? She could feel her heart beat a bit faster in anxiety. Where was Gambit?
"We should find a safe place and then have a look around. I could use my powers to scout the area."

"I think that's a good idea, Shade," she turned to Alex and added, "You never know who's hiding somewhere, ready to take a shot at us. We don't know anything about this place. We should hang tight until she gets a better idea of what we're dealing with."

Michael walked along the street, now consciously using the receiving side of his powers and scanning the area around him. He could sense someone close, but maybe a hundred yards or more away, he couldn't get a good reading. Figuring that facing someone, even if it was an enemy, was better than avoiding someone, even if it was a friend, he started to choose his path in such a way so that he'd eventually get closer to the yet distant source of emotions.
So eventually, he did. The source was determined, confident yet wary. Like a hunter.

"Wait," Alex said, thinking quickly. "What if you get into some trouble while scouting around? We don't have any-" at that, a sudden thought flashed through his mind, and he took out his cellphone. There was no reception. "Well, so much for that," he said with a frown, putting the phone away. "In short, if something happens, we're left here without any knowledge of it. Should we establish a time limit? Like, if you're not back in five, ten minutes?"

Shade had to admit that Alex had a point there. "Right," she said. "if there were more of us we could at least split up and keep people together with powers that could help each other." She thought for a moment. Wasn´t that just her usual problem? Running and looking for Shona without thinking: BAM, trouble. And now here she was, risking to run off scouting an area she did know nothing about, because she feared that Gambit might be somewhere around and in trouble. Typical, Shade, she scolded herself. She didn´t know anything. Where they were and who else was here. Or what. "Maybe we should stay together first." she reconsidered. "Or scout together, carefully."

On his way... wherever, Morph passed a building that used to be under construction and surrounded by a wooden walkway for pedestrians. The walkway had mostly been taken apart (for firewood?) or simply ruined because of the weather, but he could still make out some graffity and posters on it. Death to mutants!, Protect your children from mutant danger! and Sign up to your local mutant-fighting volunteer squad were some of those that he could read with certainty. Well, isn't this nice, he said to himself, quickening his pace as if it would help him to leave the place as soon as possible.

Violet rubbed her eyes. She wasn't up for this right now. She was trying to have a decent first date with a nice guy. She was trying to have a normal life when her days were filled with gathering information about anti-mutant activity, brainwashing, and torture. She was trying to get past the murder of the only man she'd ever loved. As all of this pressed down on her, added to the fear of not knowing where she was or why she was there, she felt a knot of panic in her chest. She pulled off the cropped jacket and the stupid wrap skirt, leaving her in the white tube top, a pair of hot pants, and the giant black boots that might actually come in handy here. She threw the plastic gun away angrily and started walking. Standing around exchanging doubts would get them no where. As she walked, she pulled her hair out of the pigtails she'd thought were so cute while getting ready and yanked her hair back into a knot that would keep all of it out of her face.

Alex looked at Violet as she walked away, now even less dressed than before. He wondered if she wasn't afraid to get cold, but he was wiser than to ask. She did what she deemed necessary.
Giving Shade a glance that said 'well, let's go,' he followed Violet. "Violet, what's the range of your powers?" he asked. "At what distance they still work?"

Glancing at Violet, Shade could tell the other woman was not having an easy time sorting in all of this and she felt a pang of sympathy for her. It gave her a bit of self confidence to see that she was not the only person here who was apparently having difficulties to keep her cool. Not that this mattered or that this was any place where such things played a big role.
She returned the look Havok gave her with a small shrug before following Violet as well. Somethign told her to be careful and she could feel her powers tingle, the way they did when they were chanelling anxiety, as if they were getting ready to kick in, an advance adrenaline rush. Her eyes travelled between the street ahead and the houses to both sides, staying close to the other two, ready to hide them and herself should it become necessary.

"I'm not sure, I've tested them up to about one hundred fifty yards," she replied without slowing or turning around. There were still no people around and Violet was getting down right angry. She hadn't felt this way since the night she'd gotten in that fight in the city. She came to an intersection and looked around. Every single building had been looted long ago, but she noticed a storefront with what looked like clothing inside; nothing fancy, just a few piles of sun bleached, dusty items on a shelf behind what used to be a large window. Glancing around for apparent dangers, she made a dash for it and began going through the piles. She found a sweatshirt, a few sizes too big, and shook as much dust off as possible before pulling it on. Now she was covered, warm, and could move around with much more ease.

Alex gave her the time to take care of her clothes, understanding that she needed it. He wondered if Shade, too, would partake in this bizarre shopping, but, again, he didn't interfere and just continued the conversation, walking closer to the shop so that Violet could hear him. "I was wondering if your powers could be used as, well, an elevator. I know you said you couldn't move things, but if you make me weight less, I could climb some building without much effort and take a look around. All better than to run sixty floors up."

Violet was still brushing dust off of the sweatshirt as she emerged from the wrecked store. "We could try," she said. She started walking again, with no idea where she was headed, just knowing she couldn't stand still.

Shade wasn´t feeling cold. Or maybe, it was also the fact that she was feeling somewhat on edge that she didn´t bother for something such as digging through those clothes. Violet seemed restless and that made her somewhat nervous. Not because the mood was affecting her but because she thought it was potentially dangerous. "I thnk that´s a good idea." she chimed in. "We should maybe have an overview first and be careful, see if we can see how far this is going on before we just start walking, not knowing what might be round the next corner." She raised her arms in a somewhat helpless gestures. "At least I could hide us or something. I don´t feel good about all of this."
