Kat had been in the city less then twenty-four hours and she already needed coffee. Still dressed in her camo-pants and jacket that hung open reveling a white tank top Kat entered the cafe. She quickly looked around before sitting at the counter. When the waitress came over Kat ordered a cup of coffee and sat thinking about what had happened trying to make sense of it.
As soon as she stepped off the train, Kat got that familiar feeling that her brother was in trouble. She got to his loft has fast as possible but he was gone. His place looked like a tornado had hit it and there was fresh blood on the carpet and couch. The knowledge of this proofed there was some sort of fight but her brother wasn't known to lose if there was. Also it meant whoever attacked him knew about his abilities and what he was capable of. She took a sip of her coffee trying to push the thought that kept trying to weasel it's way into her mind. What if he's dead? No. She would know if he was. She would feel it. Kat just needed to relax and think.

::Karl entered the cafe in need of a cup of coffee; it had been a brutal session today, and he wasn't in the best of moods. Caffeine might banish some of the associations, and as he had nothing better to do with his time, he could bide the day in a cafe in the City. After ordering and paying, he stood around the table where his order would be called up, ignoring the occasional stares he received. He stood out like a sore thumb; he knew that, and as usual, he simply tried to make the best of it.::

Kat heard the bell notifying the cafe personal that a new person was entering the cafe. Out of sheer habit she turned to see who it was. There was no mistaking the man was a mutant. His green skin and red eyes was a dead give away. Knowing how much she, herself would hate it if people stared at her for being a mutant she turned back around to finish her coffee.

::When Karl's coffee arrived, he took it and looked for a place to seat. All of the tables were taken, leaving only counter space. So be it. He sat himself near a woman and tried to make himself comfortable.::

Kat turned her head when he sat down next to her before turning her attention back to her coffee. She was so worried about her brother she finished the cup in just a few minutes. Letting out a sigh, Kat placed the coffee cup down. "Can ah get another one?" Her southern accent that she normally didn't have was starting to show through.

::Karl took a sip of his coffee and all but made a face; they hadn't added the sweetener that he'd asked for. The waitress had just given the woman a refill, but he hadn't been able to catch her in time; thus he turned to the woman beside him.:: "Can I borrow your sugar dispenser?"

As the waitress poured her a new cup of coffee, Kat just looked at it lost in thought. She was compiling a list of people she knew had a grudge with her brother and running that list against people that were actually capable of carrying out the action of hurting him. So far nothing. Kat snapped out of her trance when she heard someone talking to her. "Oh, I'm sorry. What?"

"The sugar dispenser," ::Karl repeated, and he emphasized by pointing at the container.:: "Can I borrow it?"

"Yeah, of course" She said as she reached for the sugar and passed it to him. Kat then shrugged of her jacket and draped it on the back of her chair stool. "Sorry, I must of zoned out there" She reached for her coffee and took a sip before placing it back down.

"It happens," ::Karl replied, which was a way of absolving her. He took the container and poured a fair amount into his coffee. Then stirred, took a sip, and then added more.:: "Tired, I imagine?"

Kat nodded her head at him. "That, and stressed," Her counter part and her always had a connection and there was always this gut feeling that told them when the other was in trouble. She just didn't know where to look for him. Kat looked at her coffee cup for a few more seconds before taking another sip.

::Karl nodded while he listened, as was his habit.:: "It's a stressful time of year."

"Normally I can handle it," She grinned at remembering some of the moments fighting along side her brother after he got himself into some sort of brawl. Kat was always bailing her brother out of one mess or another. It was a regular routine with her. "But, this time, something feels different," She let out a sigh before taking another sip of her coffee.

::Karl certainly didn't hear that every day, and with nothing else to occupy him, his interest was piqued.:: "Feels differently physically?"

Kat turned to look at him. "I don't know, I guess so" She brought her coffe cup to her lips and took another sip before putting it back down. Coffee here really wasn't all that good, but it was better then nothing.
