Iggy's ears fell back against his head as he remembered the first time this had happened. " I tried to kill myself...." he looked up at her quickly " I don't feel that vay now " he said quickly " But then..." he made a sound like that of a sad cat.

Shade´s face turned more serious. That a boy his age should have such thoughts was kind of distressing. Especially since he was... so young really. It was kind of a touchy subject to talk with someone Iggy´s age and have him mention death. But of course Iggy couldn´t know. "Why would you think that?" she asked, her voice soft but slightly disbelieving. "you have your whole life ahead of you." As had Jimmy, she added in thought, before shutting off that thought. No, her inner voice warned her. Don´t.

He gave her a grim smile " In my family let us just say that death was favored over living in a barn for the rest of your life.." he sighed then perked up burshing off the crushing emotions he felt " I feel better now though, I have found friends to help"

Shade briefly wondered what he been through. Did he come from one of those families where parents despised their own children for being mutants and shut them away? It woke her protective instincts and she noticed it, but forced them down. He was a boy yes, roughly 13 and she could not help drawing parallels. Even though it was totally different stories. "Having friends is important." she agreed, accepting his slight change of topic. "Have you met the Professor yet?"

Iggy smiled sensing she had picked up the time for topic change. " Oh Ja! he ist very nice, I didn't expect him to be in vheelchair though..."

Shade shrugged. "I hadn´t even heard of him before I came here." she said. "I don´t really notice he can´t walk, that´s him. His mind makes up for it, I guess he´s one of the most powerful mutants there are." She couldn´t say for sure as she hadn´t come around too much, but with what he had demonstrated to help her so far - finding Gambit in a coma, sensing the hidden layers of her powers that were unaccessable for hersel - there was hardly any doubt on that.

Iggy nodded " I only noticed it before he started talking, after that it seemed like he was just a normal person who could walk." He gave her another grim smile " My Father found out about the professor's school from a friend, otherwise I vouldn't of known who he was..."

"Was similiar with me." Shade said. "Someone had heard about this place and eventually I ended up here." The ´somebody´ had been eager to go himself, had shown her a brochure, had made plans to convince their parents and at the same time not told anyone but her about his mutation yet.

Shade gave him a small smile, having to fight the urge to ruffle his hair. Iggy had a sudden cheerfulness about him that in this moment prompted the thought that it was rather Jimmy he had things in common with than her. He´s a boy his age, she thought, no more than that, so stop drawing parallels. "Maybe." she said. "even though I guess it´s two different stories."

Iggy nodded still smiling. He had noticed that shade was always fighting something, he could see it in her eyes, and wondered if he was causing the internal battle. " Shade? is something vrong?"

Hiding emotions had never been one of her strenghts. Far too often, Shade wore her heart on her sleeve and maybe her time with Gambit had added to it. He could sense her emotions anyways so there was not much of a use in trying to hide them behind a facial expression. However, this wasn´t a good approach for everyday life maybe and she scolded herself since Iggy had noticed. She turned her head and shook it. "No, never worry." she said, meaning it. "you just reminded me of someone, that´s all."

Iggy smiled happily, but still felt something was there " who do I remind you of?" he asked innocently his ears flickering back andd forth.

He was bold, but with an innocence to it that was typical for a child his age. It almost made her heart sting, but she didn´t allow that to happen. She had come to terms with things right now, she had left behind the times where she had seen Jimmy´s face in the face of a boy now and then. It had happened way back then on her hasty, yet planless journey here. That was a long time ago, more than a year. And in contrast to back then, she was no longer feeling the same torturing bitterness resulting from a feeling of guilt. Sometimes we are caught in the current and there is nothing we can do. Yes, she had to admit, that viewpoint on things had worked, had helped her deal with it, had lifted the weight of her own guilt in a way that did not shut out the sadness, but admit it in a way that made it okay to live with what had happened.
She had not had any more nightmares ever since and thinking about Jimmy was easier, much easier now. Still, it was strange and a little unsettling to talk to this young kid who maybe apart from his age had little in common with Jimmy, but whose cheerful attitude reminded her of him.
"My little bro." she said, getting up to casually comb her hands through her hair to arrange it to a lose ponytail, before walking over to where she had left her water bottle. It looked unforced, not like trying to escape. She was a good actress there, because even the situation did not distress her that much, there was a very faint notion of sadness there which Iggy would very likely not even notice, but which was there nonetheless. There was no reason not to answer Iggy´s question or lie about it. Now that she had come to terms with things it would have felt like denying his existance, had she replied differently.

" Oh. " Iggy said his brow furrowing gently. " I seem to remind many people of their siblings" he said quietly " being the youngest child in my own family I can't really relate"
