Gambit took the syringe and poked the needle into the skin around his wound several times. He barely felt the touch. "I beg t' differ," he said and then placed his hand onto Shade's lap. "At your mercy, lord an' master... er, lady an' mistress."

Shade took the needle between two fingers and looked down at his hand, deciding that waiting too long wouldn´t help her courage. "You should keep that one liner in mind." she said slightly scowling because she didn´t really know how sewing a wound worked (well, exaggerated doctor TV shows had to be good for something at last she added in thought), trying to make out where best to start and deciding to start furthest up his arm, then go down. Just think it´s a pillow... "In a ... you know ... nicer context." She started at one side of the wound trying to ignore the ugly feeling of piercing flesh.

"Uh-huh," Gambit nodded in a somewhat distracted tone. "Just make parallel stitches right across. I can't feel absolutely anythin'... so imagine you're sewin' a leather sleeve over my hand."

Shade just nodded at that, a concentrated frown staying on her face when she continued. He was right to some extent she noticed, imagining that she was sewing something else was helping at least a little and she found it was getting easier to do with every stitch she made. She had never done that before as she had mentioned, therefore took care to do it as well as she could. "One thread all the way down?" she asked. "or several smaller ones?"

"Several smaller is better," Gambit said. He thought of maybe telling her how surgical stitches were supposed to be done, one thread per one stitch, with knots above the scar line, but decided she was having a hard time as it was already, and he'd have to see a proper surgeon later on anyway - his injured muscle tissue needed closer attention.

"Okay." Shade replied. She had been in a somewhat chatty mood a few moments previously which was undoubtedly a consequence of the high level of adrenaline she had had this morning, and she didn´t even notice she was becoming quieter by the minute. Not because there was nothing she could think of saying, but because she was trying to do what she was doing well enough. It wasn´t exactly just a scratch and she felt reminded of way back when she had first seen them with injuries - only then, Dia had been there to patch him up again, faster and more effectively than she could do. She figured she could count it as a success if the wound at least didn´t bleed any more.
Deciding to take a new thread every two stitches, she peeked into the box, grabbing for a pair of scissors before she knotted it as tightly as she could (pillow! she thought) and continued with the next stitch.

Gambit fell silent, too. He didn't want to distract her, she seemed so concentrated. Instead, he started to look at the familiar walls, his eyes wandering around the room. He now noticed that his side was giving out signs of distress again. It seemed like it was burned or something; he'd take a look at it later, when he'd be able to remove his costume.

She would need several threads, Shade had noticed after cutting off the first one and therefore cut smaller ones at a good length directly. Humming some stupid nonsense tune in her head she continued until she was about half way done and tied yet another knot. The threads seemed to be holding okay, at least for a while. She hoped he would see someone more professinal about it later. "Something like this?" she asked while she started the threading once more and thus not being directly occupied with the one for a moment.

"Yep," Gambit said after he returned his glance to the wound and studied it. The pricks from the needle began to bleed slightly, and it was all still bleeding anyway. "An' den we should cover it wit' some bandages," he said. "So I can finally get undressed."

"Right." Shade said with a small nod. She tried not to concentrate on the blood too much and it worked okay even though her hands did look rather messy by now. But at least he couldn´t feel it and that was good to know.
She finished her stitches after a few more minutes, tied the las knot and reached for the bandages. Her had raised already to wrap it around his arm, she placed them down again after a little hesitating and wiped some of the remaining blood away with anoter napkin carefully before bandaging his arm. "I´d be one heck of a nurse." she said with a hint of irony, somewhat relieved she had managed this.

"Well, ya never know, ya never know..." Gambit said. He raised his arm slightly so that it would be easier for her to wrap the bandage over it.

"Yeah." Shade gave back, continuing. "this day is developing into one huge let´s-see-what-I-can-do-which-I-didn´t-even-know-I-could. If it goes on like that I´ll have a massive ego tonight." She took the scissors again and cut the bandage at the end so she could sling one side across his arm and tie it into place with the other. "Voilá." she concluded.

"Oh great," Gambit commented with optimism as he flexed and unflexed his arm carefully, feeling the tightness of the bandage. The effect of the anesthetic was already beginning to fade slightly. "Speakin' of which," he continued, "after we're done, ya're takin' yer bag an' goin' home. Which shoubbe in about ten minutes."

Shade placed the thread and needle back into the box. Even though hiding in some semi-underground place didn´t sound like the perfect idea for fun, she would have preferred if Gambit had not insisted on this. He had mentioned it at the door already and she guessed there were things to discuss not meant for her ears or that Gambit thought the place wasn´t entirely safe. Or both. It told her he was serious about it, just as he usually was when insisting not to get her involved.
Therefore, even though there was a second when she had already opened her mouth to contradict, she thought better of it. "Okay." she said with a small sigh, not able to have a bit of defeat enter her voice even though she meant to sound lighter about it.

"Okay," Gambit echoed. He started to undo the clasps and zippers on the costume's upper part, grabbing the opportunity while he could still bother his right hand that much but being careful about not to pulling on the fresh stitches too hard.
He didn't want to tell Shade too many details about the job and his reasons for everything. He had been commissioned to steal from one mob boss for another mob boss. Curiously enough, the first one managed to find out that Gambit would be there to do the job and also to find out where Gambit leaved. A peculiar combination of facts, but perhaps the boss was pulling at the only straws available, as, with Gambit, there were never too many of those.
He didn't want Shade to know all this. It was already enough he'd shown her his secret hideaway, although he never told her Donnie's name, which was good.
