Shade knew him well enough to be able to tell that when Gambit echoed her that way, the discussion was over for him - or rather, there was no discussion. It wasn´t surprising. Thinking back to Tunisia when it had been so obvious he had never wanted to get her involved with things like these, he probably thought in the same patterns now, even though this time nothing had happened to her directly. In this moment, she faintly noticed how lucky she had been once more. The attackers had been shooting at thin air, but the danger of stray bullets had definitely been there.
She watched him for a moment thinking all this, before she shifted a little, crossing her legs and arms and leaning her shoulder against the back of the sofa. "I´ll be mopey though if I don´t get at least a kiss and half a hug before I go." she said not sounding too serious about the first part since the reasons for her words rather rooted in the fact that even though she had calmed down by now, she was still not having the best of mornings yet and closeness was usually what helped for her in situations like these.

"That you will," Gambit said. He was really concentrating mostly on trying to take care of himself and take that costume off to think about cuddling and stuff.
He finally unzipped the top part of the costume and revealed an object wrapped in plastic and taped to his chest. Gambit just glanced at it to make sure it was safe and intact, and then turned to study the damage done to his side. It appeared that the bullet had stuck in the costume armor, not quite piercing it through, but resulting in a heavy burn on the adjacent patch of skin.

It looked as if he had indeed gotten hurt far more than she had initially thought. When they had been walking in, Shade had noticed none of this, which told her a lot about Gambit´s self control for she would most likely be screaming with pain in his stead. She wished there was something she could do to help especially since removing the armour had had to be rather difficult, but had not offered it, because she knew he didn´t like her mothering him and also he would also ask for help if he wanted some just has he had done with the stitching before.
"That´s what I call luck." she said with a slight scowl when she could see his side. A few milimetres further and that wound might have become really ugly or at least she thought so with her little knowledge of such things.
((if you imagine him to sit with that side facing away from her so she can´t see, tell me and I´ll edit.))

"Y'ain't seen nothin' yet," Gambit smirked. As far as he could remember his life, luck has always been on his side. There were far worse situations where someone other than him would have surely died. He had even gotten used to thinking about it as a given.
He searched through the box, trying to find something against burns, finally he found some ointment that apparently claimed to have regenerative functions. With a slight shrug he put some of it onto his side. The anesthetic was mostly gone from his hand now and it hurt a lot, which distracted him from the burn, and he was even glad of that.
(( no, it's fine like this. ))

Shade mirrored the smirk even though it wasn´t a full fledged one. Smirking didn´t come that easily when at the same time she could see how bruised he was. "And I guess I should be glad for that", she said, unable to keep mental images from flooding her mind that contradicted his words. Back when he had returned to the mansion at the very beginning of their relationship and of course even though there had been casts to cover him, the hospital had been much worse but there was no use in mentioning that.

"'Course ya should," Gambit agreed, continuing to work on his side. He got some gauze from the box and folded it into a kind of a pad, then taping it to his skin over the burn with bandaid. His right arm was still bleeding from all his moving around and it showed through the bandages but he decided to let it be for now. It hurt enough to leave it alone for a while, and he'd stop moving in a moment, anyway.

The blood was starting to show through the bandage and nagged on Shade´s conscience. "Not meaning to mother you." she said. "but it can´t get much worse than the stitching for me so tell me if you want some help." There was no need in things hurting more than necessary and she could see he was overusing his right hand.

"I'm fine," Gambit replied. And now that he was done with the burn, he really was. He put everything back into the metal box, closed it and put it back on the table. He had a vague idea about taking a look in the mirror because he could tell a few punches hadn't missed his face, but decided to put it off for later. Now he finally looked at Shade.

"Good." she said. That was at least comforting to hear, even though Shade´s definition of ´fine´ apparently differed from his right now. Her head still leaned against the side of the sofa, she studied Gambit´s face for a few seconds before reaching out with a hand to brush away one of his long bangs. It was a gesture that was half caring, half careful, speaking of the fact that she accepted his reply and was glad things hadn´t turned out worse. At least he hadn´t gotten any slashes in the face, but some bruises were starting to show that would surely become somewhat more dominant later she guessed.

Gambit kept staring at her. He could see, could sense even, that she cared and she wanted to show affection for him, but it brought forth no response from him. It would probably settle in a few hours, but right now he was still tense and alert.

It was probably the first moment ever since he had so hastily woken her up that she had a proper chance to really rewind everything in her head, a moment where she did not have to think about running, using her powers or worrying about wounds she had to stitch or watch being tended to. It was a relief in some ways but she knew this relief would take a while to settle completely. She knew she tended to push such feelings away, pretending all was fine but knew that the scare the morning had given her was still somewhere, waiting to slowly dissolve. It was difficult to read in Gambit´s eyes but she guessed he couldn´t shrug it off to well right now already either.
She didn´t withdraw her hand but it came to rest on the back of the sofa near his head. "I hope you´re safe here." she said, crooking half a smile. "but if you´re not, you know there´s a cozy spot in my wardrobe reserved for you." They had been joking about this a whole while back and even now the words where uttered in a partly light tone even though the anxiety the chase had caused was still traceable very faintly somewhere in her voice, now maybe clearer than before that she had been occupied with something.

Gambit was more or less sure he wasn't safe anywhere; however, he didn't say that to Shade. "Thanks chere," he said, leaning over to give her a peck of the cheek. "I won't be stayin' long, anyway." He got up and picked up his trenchcoat, tossing it temporarily over his shoulders. He needed something to cover up the thing that was taped over his chest and he wasn't going to take it off just now. The trenchcoat didn't help much, though.

Shade followed him with her eyes when he got up, her smile broadening a bit. It wasn´t the first time he moved to another apartment and probably wouldn´t be the last. She got up and brushed a hand through her hair. She´d need a shower and a good couple of hours sleep later, she thought. Then she nodded. "You know where to find me." she said.
There was something on his chest, fastened with duct tape and Shade had noticed it when he had taken off his costume. She never commented on it, having no idea what it was, but being almost certain it had to be something that had to do with the heist.
"Should I walk back?" she asked, not because she was actually looking forward to that, but rather because the question occured to her right now. "Or sneak back?"

It was Gambit's habit to stay away from the places he'd been smoked out of. A safe practice, one that saved his ass quite a few times in his life. Sometimes coupled with the need to recover from the process of being smoked out of his hole, he tended to forget about his apartments for a while. It was rooted so deep in his reflexes that the thought of having the advantage of an invisible girlfriend didn't even occur to him. However, the advantage wasn't too huge.
"Oh yeah," he said. "Well, if you ain't afraid of booby-traps or per'aps a fellow mutant waitin' for ya, den I guess you're free to try." He wasn't going to talk her out of it, she'd make the decision on her own based on the hints he'd just given her.

Shade looked at him for about two or three seconds, his words not making sense at the moment. Probably because she hadn´t worded it clearly enough. Then she raised an eyebrow, partly amused. "I was talking about the mansion." she said. "not the apartment." She would avoid the area, take busses or a tube probably.
