When Gambit shifted his weight onto the bed, Shade stirred again, drifting back into waking slowly and only because of this was aware that there was something touching her face. Half asleep she raised a hand to scratch her nose where the petal touched it and stretched under the blanket, then finally opened one sleepy eye, then another.
She blinked a few times because her vision was somewhat blurry from sleep and the foggy something in front of her eyes formed into Gambit tickling her with a flower. She smiled a wide and happy smile, reaching for the flower with her right hand to twirl it between her fingers and look at it. "Aww, what a way to wake up." she said still smiling. "Thank you." It were little things these days that set her heart beat faster, whenever she noticed something about Gambit that told her clearly that their relationship had ceased to be unanswered love. Like the way he smiled at her, like this flower.

"Good morning," smiling, Gambit leaned in to give her a brief kiss on the lips, "our breakfast is here."

Shade raised her head slightly and spotted the tray. "Yay for breakfast." she said grinning, feeling hungry again when the smell of hot coffee and fresh rolls reached her nose. Sunlight was filtering in through the balcony window, making her mood even better. She sat up in bed which made the blanket drop down around her hips. For a moment she considered getting up and look for a glass or vase for the flower, then decided against it and tugged it behind her ear instead.

Gambit sat back on the bed, rolled the breakfast tray over to the bed and pulled Shade onto his lap.

Shade didn´t object to that and slung an arm around his neck, giving Gambit a kiss on the temple, before she reached for her ear to put the gerbera back into place. She bent forwards slightly and helped herself to a croissant, dipping it into some jam. "You been busy already?" she asked, noticing that he was wearing regular clothes again. So he had been to his appartment she guessed.

"Yeah," Gambit said. He poured coffee into both cups, taking one and downing half the cup in one take. "Ya plannin' t' return to de mansion?"

Shade took a bite of her croissant and let out a sigh. When she had left the mansion two days ago, she had not told anyone where she went and although it was not unusual for her to be away for some days with Gambit, she started to wonder whether people were looking for her already. Well, unlikely, she thought. Some people there had her cell phone number and they would have called her, had they been worried. But then there was the new semester starting...
"More like have to than planning." she said, counting what date it was. "The new semester will start tomorrow and with it my history class." Right now she wished it weren´t so.

"Okay," Gambit said. "I'd rather you did dat... I need t' move to another place, an' it would be better if ya didn't have to be around for all dat."
He got himself a croissant and cut it in two, then put some butter on it.

"Hm.." Shade got her cup of coffee and took a sip before placing it back on the tray and glanced at him. He had been strangely distant two nights ago and he had talked about moving into another apartment earlier. She wondered why but knowing a little about his lifestyle had some suggestions. Gambit had told her the old place wasn´t safe any more. "You think someone´s after you?" she asked.

"Don't think so," Gambit corrected, "I know so." He put some jam on the croissant. "De hotel will be safe only for another hour or two. It's just a matter of time. So I'll be movin' and you'll go back, 'kay?"
He kept wondering who it could be after him. Judging by the uncanny stealth, by the fact that he could barely make out being followed, by the fact that he couldn't notice visually anyone actually following him, meant only three possibilities: either it was Sinister or one of his better trained people; Sebastian Shaw or one of his people; or Bella Donna. Two supposedly dead men or his wife that had so far no reasons to be stalking him. Three equally improbable variants. The fourth idea would be that it was someone he had no idea about, but him not having an idea about somebody who might have something against him was even less possible than the previous three. It kept him guessing, and he hated it.

Shade nodded, feeling slightly uneasy with that knowledge. "Okay." she said. If Gambit was so sure of that, there was maybe reason to be worried.

"Good," Gambit said and kissed her on the cheek. "An' don't worry 'bout me, I can handle it." He bit off his croissant and drank some coffee. Of course he could handle it. It wasn't anything he hadn't done before.

Shade chuckled slightly, because for a moment it was as if he were indeed reading her mind. "I know." she said, raking a hand through her hair while she continued eating. "I´ll try not to." She had confidence in Gambit dealing with dangerous situations which didn´t erase all her worries for him. "And if I get reason for my worrying I´ll come and tear to pieces whoever caused it."

Gambit again had an image of angry Shade kicking the metallic leg of a Sentinel and had to chuckle at that. "Thus together we'll rid de world of all evil, except me," he remarked, refilling his cup with coffee.

"Ah well, nice as a world with no evil at all sounds, it would be boring somehow." Shade said. She knew she saw him in a better light than Gambit saw himself, but didn´t comment on it now. He was a thief and he probably had killed more people than she ever wanted to know, including the kidnapper gang in Tunisia and, as she guessed, another few when he had been away to search for Sinister. Still he had told her once he never killed out of whim. Look what you´re thinking Shade, a tiny voice told her, loving a murdered. She did not pay attention to that voice, but ignored it. Strictly speaking, she was surrounded by murderers as she didn´t think that the attacks on the mansion had been ended without killing the attackers.
