"Weawwy?" Gambit asked, hope appearing on his face. "Ofay," he opened his mouth again, allowing her to finish.

Unable to hold back a grin, Shade continued brushing his teeth and then, when she decided with a sceptical glance, her head tilted to the side, that this should be enough, cleaned the brush and handed him the plastic cup that had been standing on the sink. "Rinse and ready." she said.

After several attempts to grab the cup with his teeth that mostly lead him to the image of water spilling all over Shade, Gambit decided to try it the other way. Raising Shade a bit higher, he took the cup with his hand that was holding Shade under the knees, then he raised her even higher to get the cup to his mouth, but at least he managed to rinse his mouth that way.

Shade let out a little squeal and held on to him to keep her balance. They could have long been done with teeth brushing already but Shade didn´t care in the least. "Good boy." she said, trying to stop giggling, patting his head as Gambit rinsed his mouth.

Gambit yapped a few times and imitated a dog breathing fast with his tongue out. His mood was getting more and more playful by the minute, and he knew he wouldn't give Shade any rest if he didn't get out of the hotel as soon as possible.

Shade couldn´t help but snicker, thinking that everyone she knew would have rolled their eyes had they seen them like this. He was a complete oddball at times - another thing she liked about him because she was, too. "Now put in that tongue and let me check if your teeth are all clean." she demanded.

"Gladly," Gambit nodded, shutting her lips with his and immediately sliding his tongue inside her mouth.

Despite her tiredness, Shade could feel her body respond to the kiss. She sneaked her tongue into Gambit´s mouth and slung her arms around his neck again. She had had the plastic cup in her hand to that point but got distracted now and lost her grip on it which made the thing fall to the ground with quite some racket spilling the last mouthfull of water across the floor.

Still kissing her, Gambit carried her back to the bed and put her down, then, without breaking the kiss off, dragged her wet towel off from around her hips.

As he lay her down on the bed, Shade felt wearyness sweep over her like a strong wave. It had to be nearly dawn which meant she had not been awake for a total of 24 hours but it sure felt like it with the lack of sleep of the night before that catching up. She felt torn between the demands of her body and mind who wanted more closeness and promted her to keep her arms around Gambit´s neck continuing the kiss and a growing part of her consciousness that was screaming for sleep.
One hand started travelling down his chest and stomach slowly while her kiss slackened and when her hand reached the hem of Gambit´s towel, about to tug on it to get it off as well, it came to a halt when Shade drifted off into sleep.

She got literally switched off as soon as she hit the pillow, and Gambit chuckled softly at how cute she was. He knelt with one knee on the bed, leaning over her, and lightly kissed her on the cheek, then covered her with the blanket and stood up.
He finally got rid of the towel and got dressed quietly. Putting his full costume on took some time, as usually, so it was already sunrise when he was finished. He put his boots and coat on, grabbed some of his things and put the sunglasses on.
Timing was perfect; he would avoid the morning peak hour and would take the streets at their emptiest when even those that were supposedly following him would surely if not be sleeping, then at least have their attention at minimum. Throwing one last glance at Shade, he left the room.

Exhausted as she was, Shade kept sleeping as he dressed and left, not bothered in the least by the rising sun. Later, her sleep would seem dreamless to her, deep as it was, undisturbed by any dreams, good or bad. She rolled over to her side and curled up slightly, her body instinctively looking for Gambit´s familiar form and cuddling the blanket instead as he was not next to her, unconsciously forming it into a roll, one leg draped over it, her arms around it.

* * * * *
It took Gambit a bit longer than he had hoped. Getting back to his apartment was easy enough; he changed back into his normal clothes and left the apartment the usual way as if he had stayed there for the entire night.
However, once he was outside, mounting his bike, his senses once again perked up at the feeling of being watched. He tossed careful glances to the sides, not letting anybody know he guessed about being followed, but didn't notice anything. Starting the bike, he drove off, first towards Central Park, then along the western docks, then made a few more weird turns and only headed back towards the hotel when he was absolutely sure the tail was finally off.
He needed to stop thinking about it, even if for a few minutes. Before going back to the room, he stopped by a florist's and bought a long yellow gerbera; the thought of Shade's reaction to that made him smile. Then he ordered breakfast to the room by eleven and went up.
Shade was still sleeping; he wasn't surprised. He would let her sleep until the breakfast arrived, and then it was time to move. Taking his laptop, cigarettes and the remains of the pizza, he retreated to the balcony to do some research in the Internet.

Shade had still been sleeping when Gambit returned, being so exhausted that neither his walking around the room nor his retreat to the balcony disturbed her. As he had left the door to the balcony open and some air filtered into the bedroom, she stirred slightly as she was still more hugging the blanket than letting it cover her. She turned over onto her back unconsciously to drag the blanket back across her to avoid the slight chill.

When Gambit heard the knock on the door signalling that the breakfast had arrived, he went to open it, tossing a glance at Shade as he went; she only dug herself deeper into the blanket and probably didn't even wake up yet.
As soon as the bellboy was gone, leaving the tray with breakfast, Gambit climbed on the bed, looking for signs of life beneath the pile of the blanket. Taking the gerbera, he let its petals touch Shade's forehead and nose lightly, wondering whether that would get her awake.
