((OOC: Returning from the illusion thread.))
Violet had no idea how long she'd been standing, as Alex was now, motionless. Apparently the war zone had been some sort of game or possibly some drunk mutant's powers run amok. She was still panicking as she looked down to see she was still in costume. She made several attempts to snap Alex out of it and then realized there was no point. She sat down at a nearby table to catch her breath and calm down. As she sat down, she realized she was crying. She'd been under too much pressure lately to have to deal with something like that. She hadn't been ready to see people she cared about in so much danger; not yet. Then, as she blew her nose into a cocktail napkin, she watched Alex's frozen form and realized how much she liked him. She looked around for other living mannequins and saw Shade near the bar, also not moving. It was amazing that this seemed to have gone unnoticed.

(( back from the Illusion thread ))
Michael came to, deafened by loud music and blinded by flashing lights. Taking deep breaths, he, again, tried to adjust to the sudden change. Those were kind of frequent lately. Then, as he tried to walk, he stumbled against someone. "Oh, sorry," he said, which wasn't heard over the music.

Emily staggered as she was pushed by someone while dancing. She frowned, but then saw who it was. "Michael!" she said, surprised, then leaned over to him. "Are you okay?" He didn't look like he was.

Betsy moved easily based on his prompts and stepped toward the sofa, where she broke away from the kiss in order to sit down. Gambit took his time exploring his new lover. Testing out her reactions to what he was doing, where he was kissing and how he was touching. He wasn't too gentle about it, playing with her like she was a new toy, but he knew how to make her enjoy this.

The friends of the drunk illusion-casting mutant noticed the effect the knew he was having on some people around and tried to snap him out of his unwitting runaway power use. Laughing, they shook his shoulders and even splashed some water onto his face.

Passivity, for Betsy at least, did not mean being boring or inactive. She reacted when she felt appropriate and let this man know that she was enjoying him.

(( back from the Illusion thread ))
Alex snapped out of the illusion, finding himself back on the dancefloor. He looked around; Violet was not there. Confused by everything that had happened, by the return to the same place, same time, by Violet's absence, he hurried to get out off the dancefloor and back to the main hall. Maybe she was by the bar or waiting for him somewhere near the entrance. He stopped there, throwing a glance around the place, it was hard to see anything.
Finally, he thought, he spotted her by the wall, at one of the tables. He made his way there through the crowd. It would be pointless to speak while sitting across from her, so he didn't sit down, instead just stopping near her to make his presence known.

Violet was still crying when she looked up and realized Alex was standing next to her. She tried to force a smile and cover the fact that she'd been crying. "That was certainly interesting," she said, raising her voice to be heard over the music.

"What?" Alex asked, then realized what she meant. "Wait- so it happened to you, too?" He crouched down next to Violet, then noticed she was crying. "Hey-" he frowned for a second, thinking what to do or say, then put his hand on Violet's upper back to comfort her somehow. "It's all right, you're back here..."

Violet wiped her eyes and smiled at him. "It was just a little overwhelming," she answered, glad he was closer and she didn't need to yell. "I've been going through some things..." she started, then realized she hadn't talked about Caleb to anyone yet, and she wasn't ready. She shook her head, willing herself to stop crying. "You were great out there... whatever that was," she said, then leaned over and kissed him on the cheek.

Alex grinned at her words and the little kiss. For some reason, it felt completely natural to him, not sudden and unexpected. Maybe because they had just spend together an hour elsewhere, under 'special circumstances,' in addition to the little unfinished and slightly awkward dance. "I was?" he asked. "Thanks. I really don't know what it was, but I hope whatever I did helped." He paused a little, still keeping his hand on her back and looking at her. Whether because of her tears or because of the club's lights, Violet's eyes were absolutely mesmerizing. He'd noticed her large, bright eyes before, but had never, until now, seen them so closely.
"Do you want to get out of here?" he asked, deciding it was probably the only sane thing to do now.

Violet nodded, glad he'd brought it up first. "If that's okay with you," she said, then remembered something. "Can we make sure Shade's okay first?"

So this Shade was, in fact, a real person and she was Violet's acquaintance. This was interesting to consider.
"All right," he nodded and stood up. "How are we supposed to find her, then?"

"I saw her by the bar earlier," Violet said, standing up. "It's really strange. Apparently, while we were in that place or whatever, we just froze here." She looked around to see if she could see anyone in the state she described, but she didn't. She began to walk toward the bar, but the crowd was pretty thick and it made movement difficult. She spotted Shade, already unfrozen. She watched her for a moment, then concluded, "She seems fine."

(( Sorry for the confusion! ))
Alex followed her glance. He spotted Shade as well. It was weird to see a person he'd really only met in... what was it? A time displacement? A dream? A reality jump? A hallucination? However, now he wasn't even too sure that this was the real real.
"I wonder what happened to that other guy," he said as they started to make their way to the exit. "Never really saw where he'd gone off to."
