::The Professor knew that her relationship with her parents regarding her status as a mutant was difficult in some ways. Thus he would not dwell there. Exiting the elevator, he remarked,:: "Then that is a reason not to mention it to them."

"Is that a rule or a suggestion?" she asked timidly.

"A suggestion." ::Xavier left discretion to the students, although experience told him that fewer specifics were desirable.:: "If you do mention it, I ask that you be vague."

"Sure," she said. It was unlikely to come up in conversation anyways. Not that she was talking to her parents all that much. As far as they were currently concerned, she still had brown hair.

::The Professor did not expect this to be a difficult promise for her to keep, but he mentioned it all the same. As they went through the corridors, he nodded slightly.:: "Good. Now today, we will begin simply and work our way up to more complicated training programs."

Lorna was looking around her, blinking at the contents of the floors downstairs as they talked, but she decided not to ask questions until later, partly because she felt like maybe all this stuff being downstairs was something she should already know and didn't for whatever reason, and asking would make her look stupid. "That sounds OK. What do you mean by simple?"

::The Professor wheeled beside her down the metallic corridor towards the Danger Room. When they arrived, he used his retinal scan and finger print to let them inside.:: "Merely seeing the extent of your power thus far, and working on basic control: moving objects and negating the innate magnetic pull you exert."

She had a lot of questions, and asked the first one on the tip of her tongue, one of those that had been there ever since she'd gotten these powers and knew whose powers they mirrored. "Will I be able to fly?" Once the question was out, she flushed in embarrassment. "I mean, um...I saw...um...what happened on the bridge was on the news and I saw..." Now she couldn't get the explanation out, and she settled for. "Being able to do that would be kinda cool."

::It was a fair question. Flight was a power that most students desired at one point or another, and Erik was capable of levitation. They had the same basic power, although the Professor could not speak to her potential level. He could speak only to Erik's, which was extremely high.:: "We will see. If it happens, it will be down the line."

"Oh." She sounded a little disappointed. "OK."

::The Professor saw her disappointment, but he wanted to redirect her to the purpose of this session. To explore her new powers and help her gain control over what she had already displayed the potential to do.:: "Training is a slow process, Lorna. We take it in stages."

"I...guess I just read too many comics when I was little," she said. "Flying always looked cool."

::That was a sentiment which the Professor had heard time and again. When he and Erik had still been on good terms - and when he had been able-bodied - the other man had taken him flying.:: "You are not alone in that belief; most students think it is."

"Until you hit your head on something?" she asked, a tentative attempt at a joke.

"Although that is always a risk, it is more that in popular culture, flight is often seen as the be-all-end-all of powers." ::The Professor blamed Superman comic books as much as he blamed mythology.::
