Skids' face turned stern. "So what?" she shot back. "You're just going to bleed to death here instead of letting me help? That's real intelligent."
To the girl beside him, she said, "Look, I'm the reason you guys can't get a hit on the 'Locks. I'm fast; if I pull him, I can get him to a hospital quicker than calling an ambulance. Besides, if I leave, the shields on the 'Locks will fall and this will be a fair fight." Her mouth tightened. "Please," she added. "Let me help."

Kitty glared at the girl. "Your people attack us and you expect us to trust you? If it's your fault and you want to help, then drop your shields!" Kitty stayed crouched next to Doug. She didn't know if this girl's offer was an attempt at distraction or what, but she didn't like it.

"I can't!" Skids replied. "If Masque finds out I dropped them of purpose, he'll kill me! Please," she tried again. "Let me get him out of here. If I put enough distance between myself and the others, the shields will drop on their own." Her eyes were bright with unshed tears as she looked up at the girl. "Masque won't care if I run away, but he will if he knows I turned traitor, which he will if I drop the shields now."

Monet's eyes widened as her punch seemingly made no contact. Still in shock, her opponent's punch took her by surprise, knocking the wind out of her and throwing her to the floor. She recognized immediately that this wasn't a fair fight and that she was out of her league. She rolled behind the bar long enough to catch her breath, surveying the others with her advanced hearing. The boy was hurt bad, his girlfriend was scared and angry. One of their attackers was offering help, and it wasn't being received well. Ty was still in fighting form, and the outsiders were still coming strong. The two other men seemed braced and ready.
Monet was ready again quickly, and she used her speed to get next to the young couple without being noticed. She looked back and forth between the two of them and said, "I'm a friend of Ty's, I can fly," she focused on the young man, "Do you want me to get you out of here?" She glanced at the girl again, knowing she would have to have approval from both of them. She saw this as her best chance to help and was starting to think that spending time with mutants was a bad idea in general and she wanted out.
The blond attacker was close to tears, which infuriated Monet. If she was so eager to help them, why was she protecting the others? She pointed a finger at the girl, and almost in a growl, she said, "You come with us." Whatever crisis of conscience the girl was having would be easily resolved. Monet would just take her, and if she was serious about running away from these people, she had her out, if not... too bad for her, she had already spilled the beans about how the shields worked.
Monet turned back to the couple, waiting for her cue.
She and Ty were going to have to have a serious conversation about their tendency toward violence whenever they hung out.

Skids cringed away from Monet like a frightened rabbit when the rich girl turned on her. She wasn't afraid of being hurt by her; she just didn't like being threatened. It brought back memories of her father's abuse.
Reluctantly, Skids gave a silent nod to Monet's plan.

Cypher's eyes narrowed on the skinny little blonde, but he nodded to Monet. "Okay," he agreed. When Kitty made to protest, he added quickly, "I'll be fine, Gatita. I'll see you back at the mansion." He gave her a small smile and stroked her hair away from her cheek, and Kitty, grudgingly, agreed.
Monet nodded and scooped up the boy in one arm, while Skids grabbed onto her other. She grabbed the skinny little arm as if it were Monet holding onto Skids instead of the other way around. Using her speed to get out of the broken bar doors, she flew up in the air, heading north.

Ty watched as Skids and Cypher left with Monet, leaving Kitty, Typhoid, and Gambit to handle the rest. Typhoid watched Mimic take over Gambit's powers- it hadn't been very nice of her, but now that she knew exactly what Mimic's powers were, this was what she had planned. Gambit's abilities were destructive, but not like Typhoid's either in range or ability. She had to keep Mimic as far away from her as possible.
Victory and Dante converged on her and Kitty, and out of the corner of her eye Typhoid watched Mimic power up a bar chair with energy, flinging it at Gambit. It was about to explode.
Ty turned to Kitty. "New problem. That chick gets a hold of my powers and it's going to be the duel of the Class Fives. Let's avoid that." Dante took flight and swooped towards them both, his claws held out in an attack...claws that detached themselves and went through the air like moving, slashing missiles.

Kitty phased through the flying claws, which embedded themselves into the bar behind her. "What do you recommend?" Kitty asked Ty as the flying mutant swooped back around for a second attack. Kitty had just enough room to take a wide step and tornado kick him out of the air.

The other half of the detached claws came towards Typhoid and she didn't have the chance to either answer Kitty right away, turn transparent, or dodge. She got a slash across the ribs for her trouble before the claws (make of metal, it turned out) dissolved under the force of her powers. She cried out in pain, cursed, then replied, close to choking with the pain in her ribs. Those damn things hurt. "Keep her the hell away from me for one."
Dante "saw" Kitty coming, dodged her flying kick and met it with one of his own, aimed right at her chest instead of her face.

Kitty's reflexes were a lot faster and keener due to her kung fu training. She cursed as her kick missed the mark, but was still able to phase through the counter attack. She crouched down, making herself a smaller target to the other mutant. As he touched down again near her, she swung out a crescent kick to the shins, hoping to take him down.

The changed appearance, along with the unmistakable glow of a charged object, told Gambit what was happening. He'd met power-affecting and -mimicking mutants before, though being faced with his own powers was a challenge of its own, worthy of a Danger Room simulation.
Two could play this game, and he still had the upper hand, a many-year experience of using his powers on his side. For a second, he cast his glance around the room, assessing how many people there were that risked taking a blow from an exploding object.
"Oops," he replied to Mimic, with gleam in his eyes, "looks like I did anyway."
The charged knife was sent flying at him, and the only way for Gambit to stop it from exploding her with people around was to touch it. He tried to intercept it as it flew in his direction, and managed to drain some of the charge off, and it seeped into his own body; he avoided the knife's trajectory and it gave a minute explosion somewhere behind his back. Gambit didn't bother looking. He leaped at Mimic, using his bo staff as a support, and was met with another missile, a charged bar stool this time, which he deflected with his staff to the side, avoiding impact. The explosion came right after.

Mimic glared at Gambit, turning briefly to make eye contact with Masque before turning around again. Masque threw her something, and Mimic caught it with one hand. It turned out to be Masque's own staff, a weapon he used both as an affectation and a legitimate defense. She had seen what Gambit did, and true her name, was mimicking him, trying to copy how he used and controlled his abilities. She'd trained long enough with the Morlock leader for Masque to easily recognize what she'd do. She twirled it, although it was with less expertise then Gambit had. The staff charged, and Mimic attacked, aiming the staff in a sweep to Gambit's legs, but with a hissed reply. "You're not who I'm looking for."
Dante took the sweeping kick to the shins Kitty gave him with little grace, hitting the ground hard. It knocked his senses for a spin, and he couldn't get his bearings. He was down for the moment.
In the meantime, Victory had targeted Typhoid, and left without her knives, Ty was forced to rely on her other powers. Victory was advancing when an explosion came from across the room, courtesy of an exploding chair. It threw Victory to the ground, but she got up again, and this time she had weapons on her side, drawn from the cloak that covered her. Only she was playing dirty. The weapons were two Sig Sauer semi automatic pistols.

"Ty! We gotta get out of here!" Kitty cried out to her friend. She jumped up and stood between Ty and the approaching, gun-toting mutant. In her haste, she pressed her friend against the bar, the contact necessary for Kitty to be able to phase any potential bullets through the both of them. In her adrenaline-fueled, reflex mode, she didn't take Ty's powers into account, though she wasn't really sure what the other woman could do anymore. A lot seemed to have changed while Kitty was in Illinois.

Victory fired the gun at them, and Ty by instinct tried to grab Kitty and duck, shutting her eyes, even though she was backed up against the bar. Her powers, however, reacted all on their own, trying to turn them both to ash and also turn transparent all at once. She felt the same fracturing sensation as before, but this time she knew what had happened when her eyes opened.
Victory was still in front of them, but done in muted colors, looking oddly as if Ty and Kitty had disappeared. The rest of the bar was in the same muted colors, Masque and the other Morlocks looking confused. Some of the objects surrounding them moved too quickly, as if a strong wind were blowing in bar. It was like staring at them in partial fast forward from the inside of a TV.
In this...alternate place she and Kitty had landed in, though, was done in bright colors, just like before, and just like before, echoes of people were around them, moving in their own patterns just like they had in this bar, only in the past, or the future. When they got close to Ty and Kitty, the figures faded and disappeared.
"Oh, hell."

Kitty was speechless. She moved away from these ghostly images fearfully and looked to Ty for some sort of explanation.
