As others stood and took up arms against the Morlocks, Skids felt a wave of panic. Surely Masque wouldn't order everyone's death, just for Typhoid. Unable to hide her fear, she turned and looked at each of the different mutants in turn, trying to convey the danger they were all in.

::The plan was a relatively simple one: get Typhoid and do not let anyone stand between the Morlocks and that goal. The task had become complicated by the several mutants around them who rather than act out of self-preservation to run and hide, chose instead to step up and defend her. With Typhoid, there were six to the Morlocks' five; not unmanageable odds, particularly with Mimic there to even them a bit.
To that end, Masque gave Mimic a signal, pointing at Typhoid; to everyone else, it would look like a simple "get her" but it was nothing so banal. Mimic needed to get close to her, and her powers would take care of the rest. Mimic nodded and went over to where Typhoid stood by Gambit. She only needed to get close enough for her powers to sync with Typhoid's and then the entire building would collapse.
The others would require a distraction, and Masque gave Victory a signal. She powered up, an energy "ball" growing in her hands, which she released at the small group of mutants who had gathered in defiance. They might think they were strong, but she would show them.
Dante heard the energy release and he stepped back. He was ready to leap forward and attack the scattered masses.
Masque turned to Skids, not taking his attention off the others.:: "Shield us; this will go until we get what we came for."

Kitty acted on instinct, pushing the brunette out of harm's way (she hoped), and wrapping her arms around Doug, letting the ball of energy phase through them both.

Typhoid saw Masque nod at the albino, and turned instinctively away to stay back from her as she approached, instead going towards Kitty, Monet, and Doug. If Masque was sending the albino over specifically, it meant he had something in mind, and she didn't want to see what that was.
Kitty phased through an energy ball, and Typhoid powered up, facing Victory and Dante, but yelling at Masque: "Stop this!"

Monet stumbled as the girl pushed her but was quickly back on her feet. Though she usually had no problem stepping up to a fight, she was less sure when dealing with mutants. She wasn't sure what these freaks could do, so remained close to the group, nodding at the young girl who had pushed her, conveying thanks and understanding. Monet waited to see what Ty would do, since that had worked out pretty well in the last two fights the women had been in together.

Doug saw the energy ball come at him, but he didn't know what to do. So, like an idiot, he just stood there and waited. When it was about to hit him, though, he at least had the sense to turn his back to the blow. That's when he felt Kitty's arms encircle him; he didn't feel the blast as it went through both him and Kitty.
Pulling away, he smiled sheepishly. "Thanks," he said.

Kitty gave Doug's hand another squeeze but kept kept her eyes on the mutant attacking them.

With a quick movement of his hand, Gambit extended the bo staff; its metal glimmered in the dim bar light. Many of the people at the club had backed away when the confrontation started, and he had the necessary space around him for movement, if need be. He had never fought Morlocks and thus had no notion of their capabilities but it didn't faze him.
"Lookin' for trouble, chere?" he asked the approaching Morlock woman, holding the bo staff ready for assistance, even as Typhoid, who was obviously the aim, stepped away. He was hoping he could be the distraction, as the Morlock woman looked rather determined.

Skids sighed and did as she was told, strengthening her shields around Mimic, even though the power borrower wouldn't need them. Mimic had a way of surprising most people when she used one's own power against them. Skids felt kind of bad for the guy with the metal stick.

Victory saw Cypher move away from Kitty, saw a moment to strike again. She aimed another ball of energy at him, moving closer now, snarling. The girl was some sort of shifter or energy manipulator- had to be, since Victory's energy blasts did nothing. The other girl just stood waiting, Victory would get to her soon enough.
"I don't think so, Typhoid," Masque said from the back of the room. "You knew the rules."
Dante's senses were trained on the others who were in the room; Monet came through clearly in particular, and he came towards her from behind Victory. She felt like she was nervous or fed up, to him, the emotion quite clear from the minute vibrations in the air that she created. "You gonna leave?" he rasped, at her. "If so, get out. If not..." He spread his hands in anticipation.
Mimic had her eyes trained on Typhoid, but now there was someone else in front of her. She felt her powers latch on to his, living up to her name. Her eyes took on his black sclera, and she took a knife of her own from her sleeve, and it glowed with the same type of energy Gambit had. "Not unless you get in my way," she said.

Monet's anger welled as she was addressed. She clenched her fist, took a step forward, and punched the god-awful ugly face in front of her with strength enough to stop a volkswagen.

Cypher tried to dodge the second energy blast that came at him, but it nicked his shoulder. Shots of white hot pain erupted from the point of impact as the meager shields of cotton and his epidermal layers were burned away.
Doug lost his footing, toppling into a chair that turned. He and the seat went down hard. Doug, clipping his opposite arm, winced, more from the pain of the burn and the smell of charred flesh than from the impact of the stool. Turning his head to check the wound, he swore colorfully in several different languages.

Kitty saw Doug get hit as if in slow motion. Her defenses down, she cried out, "Dougie!" and was immediately next to him on the floor. Seeing that he was injured, she was torn between her concern and a whole new level of anger.

Skids flinched as the angry brunette's hit slid off Dante, who just chuckled in response and swung back, aiming for her gut.
Victory, on the other hand, had aimed an energy blast at the boy while the other girl was distracted. Unfortunately for the boy, he was hit. The smell of burnt flesh filled Skids' nostrils, and she gagged. She watched in horror as the boy went down, taking a chair with him. The girl was next to him almost immediately.
This isn't a fair fight, Skids thought as she watched Kitty next to Doug. He was trying to play it off, but Skids knew from others that Victory's blasts hurt. Casting Masque a sidelong glance, she skated over to the girl's side. "He's hurt," she told the girl. "Let me take him some place safe."

Doug tried to console Kitty. "I'm fine," he gritted through his teeth. "Just grazed me."
When the blonde came over and offered to help, he glared at her. "I'm not going anywhere with you," he spat harshly.
