Meeting for Drinks After the Rally

It was a quarter past seven when Kevin finally made it to the Hellfire Club. He hadn't been here in many months, and the last time had been with Brady, so he tended to avoid the place, but today his mind was preoccupied with the events of the day and he was so tired that he didn't mind Odin's choice of the place to have a drink.

[Golem]

Things had taken him a little longer than Golem had expected. After the rally, many of the streets leading away from the village had been too crowded to give even the slightest hope of moving along any more quickly than a pedestrian so it had taken him quite a while to get back to his apartment. There had been no interviews, however he could always write an article based on impressions if that was what Morph wanted and they could add the pictures the other man had taken. Since Odin had said most of the other footage had been destroyed, that might even up their numbers of readers, he thought with a hint of sarcasm.

He reached the Hellfire only minutes after Morph had arrived, glad that it had finally stopped to rain and he was wearing dry clothes again. Looking around, he spotted Morph and walked over and gave the other man a pat on the shoulder to announce his presence. "Been waiting long?" he asked.

[Odin]

::Odin had left Stacy back at the apartment, and had decided to walk to the Hellfire, rather than take a taxi. He'd take one back, particularly if he drank more than usual, but at the moment he had energy, and little of it was positive. He had arrived at Hellfire a few minutes after seven, and found neither Morph nor Golem. The streets had been chaotic after the rally had dissolved, and not knowing where either of them lived, assumed they were running late. While he waited, he ordered a gin and tonic.

When Morph, and then Golem arrived, he moved from one side of the bar to the other with his drink, to make himself known to both of them.:: "I hope you both came away unscathed."

[Morph]

"Not really," Morph said as they walked to the bar. Then, greeting Odin, he took a seat next to him. "Thankfully so, yes," he said. Turning to the bartender, he curtly ordered a beer and then turned to look back at Odin. "But what about you, how did you get through it?"

[Odin]

::Odin reached into his pocket to retrieve his wallet; he'd promised that the first round was on him, and he intended to keep that promise. He glanced at Golem to silently encourage him to order a drink also, before returning his attention to Morph.:: "I can weave through people, and I hooked up with the right group for crowd control. But at our own rally..."

[Golem]

Golem thanked the other man with a nod, taking mental note to return the favour somewhen later. Judging from what Odin told, he had obviously been in the middle of it. "So it was Brotherhood people causing the racked then?" he asked, wondering if other groups had been involved as well. He knew little about the Brotherhood but what he knew gave reason for some concern especially of Magneto was with them.

[Odin]

::Odin confirmed that with a nod, before he took a long sip of his gin. This would take him time to recover from; his opinion on the Brotherhood wasn't quite representative of the overall mutant population, and certainly not of the human one. However, he was just as upset as everyone else, if not more so because of timing.:: "They caused everyone to panic."

[Morph]

"Thankfully, not to die," Kevin remarked. "That would've been an altogether different story..." he was rather tired.

[Golem]

Golem twisted his glass between his hands. Probably they had all been rather lucky, he thought. Things could have ended much worse since there was enough hatred against mutants and probably also frustration among mutants going on to easily have a situation like this escalate all too easily. "I guess the headlines tomorrow will dramatise things enough as they are now." he said.

[Odin]

"The headlines..." ::Odin already anticipated them, and his way of coping was trying not to think about them. All the better that they were in a bar.:: "Speaking of which, any footage or pictures you have, cherish them."

[Morph]

"I'll take a look at them tonight or tomorrow," Kevin said. "I doubt there is anything of much use... Not for our format, anyway, but if anybody contacts me tomorrow, I might just sell a few pictures."

[Golem]

"I´m sure there will. Elias said, taking a sip of his drink. "only question is what they´ll write around the pictures." Pictures could be interpreted in many ways and if a hardliner newspaper bought them they sure would use them for anti mutant propaganda.

[Odin]

::Odin took another sip of his drink, and agreed with Golem mentally. There was far too much potential for any photos to be twisted as anti-mutant propaganda.:: "Be careful; any buyers could work for a conservative rag."

[Morph]

Kevin considered what they both said. He was in a rather blurred state of mind and wouldn't have thought of it himself, but they had a point. "It doesn't get any easier," he muttered into his beer before taking a gulp.

[Golem]

"No." Golem said with a slight shake of his head. Morph was brooding, he usually was these days. "which is as good a reason as any for us to try and get the best out of it. Next rounds on me, guys."
