"Fine," Stacy answered when Odin finally spoke to her, watching him curiously as he came to sit with her. "And yours?" she asked, turning down the volume on the TV so they could chat easily. "I saw the weather got bad."

::Odin took a careful bite of the apple, chewed thoughtfully, and swallowed before answering.:: "The weather was the least of our problems. Tomorrow the headlines will come one after the other 'Mutant Menace Sabotages Own Rally.'"

Stacy pulled a face at this news. "Great," she murmured. "Now I'm really glad I didn't go. I hope it didn't get too violent," she then said, now quickly looking Odin over in case he was hiding any injuries.

"That depends if your definition of violence includes fire and earthquakes," ::Odin said. He found himself suddenly without appetite, which he knew was emotion rather than his body signals. Setting the apple down on the table, he spread his hands in a rare expression of perplexity.:: "It's as though they don't realize there's an election in three months."

Stacy gave Odin a sympathetic look. "Put all kinds of people in one confined space, and there's bound to be friction, honey. Especially when it's involving mutants. Just be glad no one got killed."

::This was where Odin's naivety shone through. He expected more of mutants, because they were more, they could be more. That they behaved otherwise confounded him in a way he wouldn't readily admit, particularly when it took the form that it had. This would come back to haunt them, of that, he couldn't be surer.:: "The news would have a field day if someone were killed. As it is, they'll depict us as savages who attack our own kind."

She sighed gently as she watched him, able to tell he had really had a terrible day there. "Tell me what happened," she said, patting his arm briefly, offering him an friendly ear to rant to.

::There were advantages to living with another person, Odin had to admit. He had an ear to bend when he needed one, whereas before he'd stew about this until he went to the Hellfire, and even then, he'd continue to stew for long after. He sighed also.:: "There were religious protesters, you know the type: humans who think it's their God rather than ours. They were being loud and offensive, and a few members of the Brotherhood decided that throwing fire would be the solution. Another caused earthquakes, which led to crowd panic, and then someone I'm convinced didn't belong with them threw light to overexpose the media footage."

It sounded like a lot had kicked off power-wise and she nodded slowly as she listened to him. "Well, at least it was a panic and not an attack," she said, trying to give him something positive to focus on. "And if most of the footage is ruined, maybe the reports will be less detailed, since it'll only be eye witness."

::Odin took cold comfort in that; he knew how the media would spin this. He sighed again, lifted his glasses to rub his eyes.:: "Imagine Brian Williams on the air saying they only have eye-witnesses because a mutant attacked their reporters."

Her gaze dropped, knowing he had a point. "Too bad they don't listen to their own views on libel."

::Odin continued to rub his eyes, but he nodded in agreement.:: "I don't know about you, but I won't be able to pick up a paper tomorrow."

"Don't pick them up anyway, honey," she said with a small smile as she looked back towards him.

::Odin couldn't muster a smile quite yet, not with his mood. Deciding to let his eyes alone for the moment, he dropped his hand, glasses fell back into place.:: "I don't think they'll try to fit another rally in before the election..."

"Probably not," she agreed softly. "Unless they find another way to get their point across."
