((OOC: First post is backdated to several months ago, when he finally broke down and rented an apartment.))
::Odin had not been in a position to ever need to secure housing for more than a few weeks at a time, and so the task of apartment hunting had been new, and one he had no intention of repeating any time soon. He'd been living out of a hotel that knew him well from each time he visited Manhattan, and it had been fairly frequently, but eventually he'd needed to find a place for the long-term, while waiting to hear back. And when he did, he could always deal with the lease, had it not been good news.
Living out of a suitcase had its drawbacks, and they went beyond simply having no experience in finding long-term housing. He had no actual address to give for call backs, only a P.O. Box and his cellular phone number. It hadn't looked the best, and since appearances was half of his work, he'd been understandably concerned about how that would affect his chances of finding an apartment. However, he was clean cut and dressed well, if a bit bulky because of the cold weather, and that had helped. Eventually, he'd found a suitable place.
It was a little on the expensive side, as was all property in Manhattan, and for once he couldn't bill living expenses to clients. He had enough for a few months rent, on him, and he could wire the additional money from Chicago, if the Magazine didn't start paying off when it would begin to matter. But for location, it had been a bargain. It was in the Village, which made him more comfortable. Apart from being an artistic community, and one which drew younger crowds, there was a budding mutant community there, so Odin wouldn't be alone. He enjoyed the company of other mutants too much to live alone with flat scans.
With the lease signed, he moved in with his two suitcases. He'd have to send for some of his other belongings, not that he had too much more back in Chicago, but he had enough. After surveying the apartment - it was thankfully furnished - he decided to go out and take a look around the neighborhood. Observe some local color.::

((OOC: After returning from "Better Living Through Chemistry."))
::Odin had told the truth, as he tended to this past year, and returned via a taxi cab. The alcohol had already begun to burn from his system, although it would take longer for him to recover his sobriety, and then time after that to recover from the hangover.
He locked the door, then kicked off his shoes, left them by the doorway. Usually he'd take coffee, but he'd rather not prolong the evening more than he already had with his excursion. Instead he stopped off in the bathroom to wash his face, brush his teeth, before making his way to his bedroom. He unbuttoned his shirt, but stopped there for the moment, and sat on the edge of his bed.
Fingers ran through his dark hair, and he opened his wallet, pulled out a worn photograph, one of the few he'd taken from Chicago. Looking at it, he felt the same constriction in his heart as when he'd gotten the call earlier that day. It would take time, and he'd deal with it when he was sober.
Undressing the rest of the way and changing into his pajamas, he slipped under the covers. Setting his glasses down on the nightstand, he found himself encased in darkness. All the better to help forget.::

((Set two days after: "Better Living Through Chemistry" and before "Bored Beyond Belief"))
Paige had called up the day before to see if she could possibly come over to Odin's apartment. She was a bit surprised when Odin said she could and had been up since 7 trying to figure out what to wear, even if it wasn't a date. It was now almost 2 and Paige had just found Odin's apartment. Biting her lower lip, she almost felt like backing down but stopped herself from doing so. Knocking on the door she then waited for him to answer.

::As expected, the day before, Odin had awoken with a massive hangover, a combination of his low alcohol tolerance, the headache from the night prior, and the strong emotions that had brought on the excursion in the first place. Ibuprofin, coffee, and toast later, he'd been in a better mood.
It had been a Friday, so he set about doing his work for the day, and in the afternoon, he received a call on his cellular. At first he thought it was pertaining either to the Magazine or to his old work, but found instead it was Paige. Who, despite the night before, was interested in getting together. He'd pegged that one.
His business card didn't have his apartment's address, rather the P.O. Box he used for mailings, and so he'd had to give her the address, and directions as she didn't reside in Manhattan. He told her to come over in the early afternoon, and he'd finished up his work.
Saturday morning came, and he'd set about grocery shopping and cleaning the apartment, two mundane tasks he hadn't imagined for himself six months ago when he'd returned to Chicago and wanted nothing more than recover and get on with hsi work. He wasn't one for settling down, and yet he had. For now.
He'd sensed her arrive long before she knocked on the door. He crossed the living area to open it, moved to the side to let her in.:: "Hello."

Paige thought she heard movement from inside the apartment and soon found Odin at the door. "Hey." She said with a smile, stepping inside when he moved out of the way. "So, are you feeling better?" Paige asked with a small smile before looking around his apartment, it was a nice looking one.

::"Better" was relative, and not simply by usage and definition. Physically he neither had the hangover or the headache, which was improvement. Emotionally, that remained to be seen. After she was inside, he shut the door, letting it lock behind her.:: "A bit. And I see you made it home safely."

"That's good." Paige said with a smile. "Um, where can I put my bag?" She asked, her messenger bag in her hand.

::Odin gestured around the living room: there was a coat rack, a bookshelf, and several small tables where she could set it down.:: "Place it anywhere you'd like."

Paige smiled gently before placing it on the coat rack, "So, this is a nice place." She said with a smile as she looked around before looking back to him.

::It was the most stationary place Odin had stayed at in years, apart from his apartment in Chicago, which he seldom used. After all, he only returned there once or twice in any given six-month period. The apartment here was nicer than any hotel he used on more than a night or two's stay; he didn't usually give in to the call of luxury, even when he'd been able to bill it to clients.
It was big enough for his purposes: two-bedroom, kitchen, living room/dining room; he knew how to comparison shop, for anything, be it a book or an apartment. Peculiarly, she was the first guest he'd had over for anything that wasn't related to business, and thus the first person who's comment hadn't been appraisal.:: "Thank you. I'd thought to try to find somewhere comfortable if I were settling in. Would you like anything to eat or drink?"

"You're welcome." Paige said with a smile as she moved to take a seat on his couch, she wasn't exactly sure why she decided to come over...But she did. At his offer for something to drink or eat she smiled gently, "I wouldn't mind a glass of water..." She trailed off, her cheeks slightly red.

"With ice, or not?" ::Odin asked. He made a gesture for her to follow him, as he walked from the living area towards the kitchen. There was a table and four chairs around it on one side, and he went to the cupboard to get a glass.::

"Doesn't matter." Paige said as she got off the couch and followed him into the kitchen. Taking a seat on one of the chairs she watched him.

::Odin walked to the freezer, filled the glass a third of the way with ice cubes, and then took the water pitcher from the shelf in the refrigerator. He'd been too many places with contaminated water that the investment in a Britta had been one he didn't hesitate to make. After he filled the glass, he closed the refrigerator door, and brought it over to her.:: "Here you are."

At the moment, Paige had been looking out the window. She liked being in the city, sometimes. At heart she was a country girl. When she heard him speak up she turned to look at him. "Thanks." She said with a smile before taking the water and taking a few sips.
