Shade leant as close as possible towards him, not from physical desire any more but from sheer need for emotional closeness. Breaking the kiss after a moment she hugged him tight, rested her head on Gambit´s shoulder and gave in to her own feelings of comfort and happyness which only at the slightly rough edges were still troubled with the thoughts that all of this was so difficult for him to feel. Had she had a single wish to chose to come true, she would have known exactly, what it would be.

Shade looked at him with a smile, for some reason feeling reminded of the first time Gambit had called her ´wonderful´ himself. It had been on their way to that spontaneous detour to the beach in Conneticut and he had acted a little strange after saying that, just as if it had been something he hadn´t wanted to say out loud. Now he didn´t seem to mind.
Thinking about possible developments, she remembered something else. She looked at her hand thoughtfully. If there was something like a good moment to test the influence of sugar as a booster for her powers, this was it. She had had lots of sugar that day, starting with the cocoa and the croissant with plenty of jam, going on with an unhealthy supply of fingerpaint.
