Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 18, 2007, 17:28 Jean had driven Scott's car all the way to New York City and when she got there, was emotionally exhausted. She wanted to talk to him but thought that the best thing to do was to leave him alone for a little while.
From a few other mutants, Jean heard about the Hellfire so she thought she'd stop in and get a drink. Walking in, it was a little crowded. Which wasn't suprising, seeing as it was a Saturday night. Jean made her way over to the bar and tried to find a bartender. Posted by Gambit on Jun 18, 2007, 17:35 Gambit was preparing vodka shots for a company of a few people. As usually, he glanced over the bar every now and then.
As he noticed her walk in, his hand froze dead, as did his heart for a few seconds. She looked exactly like Jean. He could've sworn she WAS Jean, had he not seen her die at Alcatraz.
He locked his eyes on her, following her every step as he forced his hand to place the shots on the counter in mechanic motions. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 18, 2007, 17:37 Jean continued her search for someone that worked at the bar. Finally, spotting a man who was staring at her, she smirked, and gave a slight nod as if to say, "Can I get something?" Posted by Gambit on Jun 18, 2007, 17:44 When she looked at him, Gambit so no sign of recognition in her expression. He felt some relief at that - so it wasn't Jean. He stopped in front of her behind the bar and leaned with his hands on the counter. "Bon jour chere," he said, brushing the remains of initial stress out of his mind. "What can I get ya?" Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 18, 2007, 17:46 At his first words, Jean's memory noticed the accent but couldn't place it. It sent her mind into overdrive. What she needed was to calm herself. Fast. "A Grey Goose martini please," she said, running a hand through her hair. It was getting quite long again, she thought that she might need to cut it soon. Posted by Gambit on Jun 18, 2007, 17:52 Her gesture was an exact copy of what Jean used to do. Remy was surprised he still remembered it, it's been a few years - and the sting of uneasiness hit him again on the inside.
He nodded at her request and filled a glass with martini, adding an olive to it. "Dere ya go, chere," he placed it in front of her, still throwing random glances to study all details about her. The resemblance was uncanny. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 18, 2007, 17:57 This time, at the word chere, Jean's heart skipped a beat. She looked at the man's features a little more closely. He was typically handsome and there must have been plenty of those types of guys in New York. But he seemed different somehow.
Taking a sip from her glass, Jean caught him studying her. Smirking again, she placed her drink down on the bar, leaned in a little so he could hear her clearly, and said, "Have we met before? You look familiar."
((Sorry, gotta go in five mins.)) Posted by Gambit on Jun 18, 2007, 18:01 He could ask her directly, but didn't want to risk it. "Same question I been askin' myself de past few moments," he said, also leaning closer. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 18, 2007, 18:02 Jean tilted her head to the side, held out her hand to shake, "I'm Jean. It's nice to meet you." Posted by Gambit on Jun 18, 2007, 18:12 Gambit took her hand before his mind processed and registered her response. His mouth opened a little in mild shock he went through. Nice to meet you?! If this was Jean... how come she didn't recognize him?
He noticed the pause was getting too long as he was staring at her. "You can't be Jean," he managed finally. "I saw you die." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 18, 2007, 18:15 With the touch of his hand, Jean felt a wave of electricity strike through her. She knew those hands, so why couldn't she remember?
Jean was shocked. Oh no, she thought. He saw it. "It... it's complicated." She took back her hand nervously. Posted by Gambit on Jun 18, 2007, 18:18 "As complicated as you not recognizin' me?" Remy asked. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 18, 2007, 18:37 Jean shook her head nervously, "I'm sorry. I don't know who you are. You seem so familiar. I swear I did know you... before... But now. I just can't think." Posted by Gambit on Jun 18, 2007, 18:44 Gambit had never had past girlfriends telling him they couldn't remember him. It was next to impossible.
Like Jean walking into his bar right now.
"Name's Gambit," he said cautiously. "If dat rings a bell." A part of his wariness left him. If she couldn't remember him, she wouldn't remember the reason they had broken up. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 18, 2007, 21:30 Jean tried to smile at Gambit but her nerves made her a little weary. "So... how did we- do we know each other?" Posted by Gambit on Jun 18, 2007, 21:34 "We dated," Remy said bluntly, "we broke up." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 18, 2007, 21:39 Jean raised her eyebrows in shock. She couldn't remember being with anyone other than Scott. "Oh. Uhm... How long were we together?" Posted by Gambit on Jun 18, 2007, 21:40 "A few months," Gambit said. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 18, 2007, 21:44 "Hm.. Well, I'm really sorry about forgetting you. It's nothing personal, honest. So, I guess to start over, could you tell me a little about yourself?" Jean took another, longer sip from her martini glass, almost emptying it. Posted by Gambit on Jun 18, 2007, 21:46 Remy gave a small smile. "You want... to start over?" he repeated. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 18, 2007, 21:48 Jean smiled, too. "Well, you probably know some about me, so I thought I'd catch up." Posted by Gambit on Jun 18, 2007, 21:55 That sounded fair. Remy sighed. It felt weird talking to Jean again, but he had to deal with it, and preferably not to f*ck up anything.
"Alors," he said, looking at her and recalling the information she used to know about him, "my real name's Remy LeBeau. I come from Nawlins, I'm a mutant who can explode things, I'm also a thief an' I was wit' de X-Men at one time. How's dat?"
(( has a deja vu of one of Tim's recent convos )) Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 18, 2007, 22:00 Jean smiled brightly. "I think that works," she nodded to her now-empty drink. "Another, please?" Posted by Gambit on Jun 18, 2007, 22:08 "Bien sure," Remy filled her glass again. "So... how you been, chere?" Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 2:49 Jean sighed, "Oh. I'm getting back to so-called normal, I guess. Other than the fact that I can't remember ex-boyfriends... I'm doing all right," she said with a smirk. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 10:08 Thankfully, Remy thought, because it's something better left forgotten. They wouldn't be called ex- for no reason. But he didn't say that - he didn't need a wary Omega in his vicinity. "An' how's de progress?" he inquired, mirroring her smirk. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 16:47 "Pas mal," Jean chuckled. "Getting to the point that I'm building my relationships back up to where they should be." Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 17:49 Which probably meant she was back at Xavier's. Any relationships that Jean would refer to as "should be" could be only there. However, Remy couldn't remember meeting Scott when he was last at the mansion - but then again, he hadn't met Jean, either. "You're back at de Institute?" he asked cautiously, hoping it wouldn't be too touchy a subject. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 17:54 Jean smiled, not noticing his air of caution, "Yep. Home." She hadn't had anything to eat for hours so her drinks quickly went to her head, making her slightly tipsy all ready. "Where do you live? Here in the city?" Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 17:56 "Yep, got a place mid-Manhattan," he said. "And a room here, just in case."

Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 17:58 Jean looked up at him at the mention of an accomodation at the club. "There's a room here? I don't think I'll be driving back tonight... Could I rent out the room for the night?"
((Sorry, gotta go. Talk to you later. )) Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 18:14 Remy studied her for a second. She seemed completely harmless, and he didn't perceive anything but sincere emotions from her, and was rather torn between how he remembered her and what she seemed to be now. He knew he would pay dearly this time if he was losing his touch and perception about people. "Well, which one d' ya prefer?" he asked finally. "One of de huge decorated VIP bedrooms, or my room?" Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 19:14 Jean thought for a second, "I think one of the VIP rooms would be good, thanks." She smiled sweetly to Gambit, finishing her second drink. He seemed like a good guy and she wished she could remember what they went through, even if it was somewhat painful. Leaning over the counter a little for balance, she said, "So, how much do you charge a pretty girl for a pretty room?" Jean was unusually flirtatious when she drank.
((Back! My boss called me off today. )) Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 19:21 "A pretty girl goes for free," Remy smirked. "Want another drink, chere?" Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 19:24 "Mmm, yes, please," Jean purred as she slid her glass acros the bar to Gambit. "No cost for a night? I don't think I could do that..." Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 19:28 Gambit leaned to her, quirking a brow as he smiled. "Dis here is my playground, chere," he said. "I make de rules. If I decide not to charge, I don' charge." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 19:30 Jean's smile grew, keeping her eyes locked on Gambit as she took a sip from her martini. "Well, thank you, Gambit." Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 19:36 "De rien, chere," Remy said. "Is red still your favorite color?" Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 19:39 Jean liked that Gambit knew some things about her. It made him mysterious and dangerous. He might know too much, but she was willing to take that chance. "As always. Why is there a 'red room'?" She said, eyes glittering. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 19:47 "Seven rooms in seven colors," Remy said. "Most patrons get deir kicks out of it." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 19:49 Jean raised an eyebrow. "Care to take me on a short tour, or do you have to stay here and serve drinks?" Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 19:54 "A tour of de entire club, or... just de bedrooms?" Remy asked, trying to sound as indifferently as he could. He still needed a little time to get the idea that he was talking to Jean to settle, but his uneasiness was slowly beginning to be replaced by the effect of her allure on him - the one he had always experienced before. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 19:57 "Just the bedrooms are fine. Those are the only rooms I'm worried about right now." Jean said, grabbing the stem of her glass and stepping away from the bar a little bit, tilting her head as an invitation to Gambit to lead her the way. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 20:04 "Awright," Remy said. He walked out from behind the bar counter, looked at Jean to make sure she was following him and went to the stairs that lead to the gallery on the second floor. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 20:07 Jean followed closely behind Gambit as to not get lost in the crowd. She looked around the club as she went up the stairs and could see the whole room. There were people all around, talking, dancing, even a few kissing. Jean was glad she made the trip. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 20:13 Remy stopped before the hallway of the Rainbow Lounge. He indicated at the seven doors in it to Jean with a nod of his head. "Wanna see 'em all?" A quick glance told him that pink room was occupied. Inwardly he rolled his eyes at that, wondering who could possibly want that room. But the Club tried to cater for all tastes. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 20:15 Jean involuntarily yawned and shook her head, "Nah. I guess the Red one is fine. I didn't realize how tired I was until I actually got up here." She took a long sip from her glass and looked around the hallway. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 20:25 "Eh bien," Remy said. She did seem tired. He had been considering offering to take her back to Westchester on his bike, but now he doubted she would have been able to do it. He walked to the red door and ran the swipe card over the reading device to open it. "Bienvenue, chere," he made an inviting gesture inside the room. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 20:28 Jean walked into the large room and looked around, marveling at it's space. Setting down her drink, she turn around to Gambit who was still near the door. "This is amazing." She sat down on the bed and waved her hand towards her, "C'mon over. I don't bite." Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 20:35 Gambit paused in the door, leaning against the doorframe. She was irresistible. As dangerous as he knew she was, he couldn't help but look at her in the same way he used to. He stepped into the room, closed and locked the door behind him and walked over to her, stopping a step away from her. "Jean... you're..." Beautiful. "Drunk." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 20:39 Standing back up to close the distance in between the two, Jean said, slurring a bit, "Oh, no I'm not." She laughed and put a hand on Gambit's shoulder. "It's so nice of you to let me stay here. And I barely even know you!" She giggled again, stopping for a second because of a hiccup. Looking back over to where she set her drink, she saw that the contents of her glass were gone again. She didn't even think that she finished that one as fast. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 20:44 Gambit gave her a charming smile. "Precisely de reason why Gambit should probably go," he said. "An' leave ya to get some rest." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 20:46 Jean grabbed his hand before he had a chance to leave, "No, no. Stay. I still feel bad about not knowing much about you. I'm not even sure what you know about me. I think there's an imbalance." She sat back down on the bed, lightly tugging on Gambit to follow. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 20:57 Gambit's mind fought a quick battle between reluctance and interest. Interest won.
He sat down next to her on the bed and propped on his hands behind him. "So dis is like we catch up on things, an' den ya wake up next mornin' with a hangover, rememberin' nothin'?" Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 20:58 Jean laughed. "No, I'll remember tomorrow, I swear." She made herself more comfortable by bringing her denim-clad legs up onto the bed, also, and crossing them in front of her. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 21:11 "Ah bon..." Remy said, studying her. "So... how much d' ya actually remember about yourself?" Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 21:17 "Myself? Well, there are a few things here and there that I'm missing. Kind of like a book with a few pages torn out in random places. But there are some bigger gaps from a few months ago. For instance, I don't remember killing anyone. Especially Charles and Scott." The alcohol got rid of Jean's ability to censor what she said and didn't even realize what she had blurted out. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 21:25 Remy looked at her. He didn't know the details about Charles and Scott's deaths and subsequent resurrections, but he did know it had been Jean. That was the reason why he felt fear when he saw her some half an hour ago. "Some things are better left forgotten," he repeated out loud his thoughts from before. "Now you can start anew." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 21:27 Jean smiled and playfully nudged Gambit's arm, "Exactly. That's what I'm doing. Trying to forget, but still learn from the past and taking on new challenges." What was it about Grey Goose that made everything more amusing and good looking? Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 21:31 "Tryin' to forget, but learn from de past..." Remy repeated, staring at the wall for a moment. Then he looked back at her. "How do you combine dese things?"
He was glad they were actually talking about such abstract things; it kept his mind off her closeness.

Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 21:33 "Well, from what I remember, the good things at least, I build off from. And then anything negative, I try and work past that. Patching up holes where I can." Jean leaned back on her hands just as Gambit was doing. "So, are you seeing anyone, Gambit? I wouldn't be suprised. You're so... nice." Jean's inhibitions were shot. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 21:40 Remy smirked, meeting her playful look with his eyes. "I am, actually." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 21:42 Jean laughed and poked a thumb to her chest. "Well, me, too. Still with Scott. Yep, good ol' Scott. Nothing new there..." She rambled for a little bit, unenthusiastic. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 21:46 "Don't hear much happiness in your voice," Remy teased, poking her on the shoulder. "Come on, chere, you're an amnesiac, everythin' is new, fresh an' amazin'." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 21:49 Jean looked back at Gamibt, "Huh? Oh. Yeah. It is.... It's good. And don't get me wrong. Scott's great. It's just, even since I've been back, it still feels like a routine, ya know? Maybe this is what marraige feels like..." Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 21:51 "Can't help ya here," Remy grinned. "Only been married for half an hour. You doin' anythin' to get rid of de routine feelin'?" Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 21:55 "You were married before?" Jean asked suprisingly. "Well, Scott's the same as always. And we've been through everything. I mean, we grew up together. But at some point, you just kinda get bored with the whole thing. You like to spice things up a bit. Try something new." She rambled again, not even paying attention to exactly what she way saying. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 22:01 "I was married and immediately divorced," Remy said. "I always f*ck up everythin'." He paused, looking at her. "An' don' tell me dere's nothin' new left to try." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 22:03 "Oh, like what?" Jean asked. If Gambit had ideas that would make her relationship better, she was more than willing to listen. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 22:09 "Dieu, how'm I supposed to know what's new for ya?" Remy exclaimed, laughing. "Go to Power Exchange in San Francisco, for all I care," he shrugged. "Whip some sense into each other." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 22:12 Jean lifted an eyebrow, "I've never heard of that. What is it?" she said, laughing, too. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 22:14 "A BDSM club," Remy replied. "Or whatever other fantasy you might have. It's all in dere." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 22:17 "Well, I bet there must be some places around here that's like that. I'm not sure if I'd go all the way to California for just some sex toys or whatever. And that's even if Scott was on board." Jean said with a roll of her eyes. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 22:20 "I wouldn't have suggested it," Remy grinned. "But okay, one idea down. Get a threesome." He wondered which one of them was actually drunk. Probably it was her state affecting him through his empathy. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 22:24 "Oh, I don't know if either of us are comfortable enough to bring in someone new. And Scott can get jealous if I'm near another guy. Take Logan for example." Jean shook her head. "And I'm not too sure about having sex with another woman. I mean, I'd try it. But I think it would just add tension to everything. I'd have to do it with someone I was comfortable with." Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 22:30 Remy rolled his eyes and slumped onto his back. "In dat case, chere," he said, "you can jus' buy some Cosmopolitan or somethin' and get some less drastic ideas. Gambit's ideas will prob'ly be too much for ya." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 22:34 Jean followed suit and layed down. Her head felt like it was getting heavier. "Thanks anyway, Remy." She said with a chuckle. Staring up at the ceiling, Jean's eyelids were starting to weigh down, but she refused to fall asleep. She wanted to keep talking to Gambit. "What are the odds that I would walk into some bar and meet my ex-boyfriend. One who I don't even remember being with. Do you do that to tons of girls to try and get into their pants?" Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 22:39 Remy turned his head to look at her. "First, dis be a mutant-only bar," he raised his fist, opening his fingers as he counted, "second, ya prob'ly hear about it from somebody at Xavier's, thirdly... well, yeah, the odds are pretty small." He chuckled, letting his hand drop. Not surprisingly, it touched Jean's hand. "As for girls, well..." he sighed. "Different girls, different approaches." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 22:42 "Oh yeah? And if you were trying to get to me, what would that approach be, Remy?" Jean kept her eyes on the ceiling, not noticing that she could be flirting anymore. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 22:48 Taking it for what it was, a pure provocation, Remy sat up and placed his hands on both sides of Jean's shoulders, turning to her and leaning his face lower. "Oh, you don' need an approach, chere," he said in a low voice, smirking. "Right now you're pretty much for the takin'." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 22:51 Jean was suprised at first at his movements but then smirked, too, and couldn't help but notice the jolt of electricity she felt surge through her. Trying to keep the upper hand, Jean didn't kiss him. Instead she said, "Oh, I am? Well, what are you going to do about that?" If he was going to make a move, Jean would have to get it out of him. Even when intoxicated, she wouldn't play into his hand that easily. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 22:56 "Nothin'," Remy whispered, leaning yet lower. "Because you're drunk, which means you'll regret it in de mornin', and dat'll make Remy feel so... very... bad..." he stressed each word. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 22:59 Jean had to squeeze her legs together in order to supress the tingling she felt as Gambit spoke. She quirked an eyebrow and said, "I bet you are... bad." Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 23:06 "It turns ya on, doesn't it?" Remy smirked. He knew he wasn't making it easier by not abandoning his usual seduction habits, by not even toning down sultry hues of his voice, and he knew playing around with Jean could get him into all kinds of trouble... but he decided to prolong it for at least another few moments.
It was as dangerous as it was fun. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 23:09 Jean hummed deeply, arching her chest and stomach towards Gambit, but still keeping her head down. She refused to be the first to kiss. Keeping her eyes on Gambit, she tilted her head to the side slightly. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 23:16 Remy studied her beautiful face. She was plainly begging for it. It was as if nothing had changed since then. As if they had returned to where they had started back then. He leaned to her lips, almost touching them, as he asked, warming her skin with his breath, "So what should I do with ya, Jeanne?" Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 23:20 "Whatever you want." Jean breathed, putting stress on the last word. Even without touching, Jean was becoming more excited by the second. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 23:24 A fair response. Considering that what she wanted was more or less clear. Remy touched her lips with his, softly at first, then allowed himself to relax a bit and deepened the kiss, parting her lips a little. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 23:29 Jean moaned as Gambit finally kissed her. She realized then that this was the type of excitement that she was looking for. The teasing and anticipation. This is what she was missing. Opening her lips, she allowed her tounge to playfully slip into Gambit's mouth as she reached up and ran her hands through the hairs on the nape of his neck. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 23:38 Meeting her tongue with his, Remy felt himself getting excited. The familiar feeling of her lips, the buzz of the sense of danger about her, and the rushed, unexpected thrill of their sudden closeness were creating an explosive combination inside of him. He felt the tips of his fingers tingle.

Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 23:42 Jean let everything go inside of her, pulling Gambit closer, she rolled both of them onto their sides. Letting out soft moans, she wanted to feel everything there was to Gambit's lips and tounge. She started to pull lightly on his hair as she deepened their kiss. Posted by Gambit on Jun 19, 2007, 23:49 Getting lost in her eager kiss, Remy slid his hand over the exposed line of bare skin between Jean's top and jeans. He entwined his tongue with hers, exploring her mouth. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 19, 2007, 23:53 With her free hand, Jean tugged at her button-up shirt, trying to rid herself of the article. Nothing was in Jean's mind other than Gambit. He completely consumed her, body and mind. Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 0:03 Remy broke off her lips by a force of will, panting slightly. "We're getting... kinda carried away," he said, though still wanting to return to kissing her amazing lips. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 0:08 Jean tried to catch her breath as Gambit broke their kiss. She stopped and blinked a few times. Looking down at her now-open shirt, Jean put a hand to her forehead. "I... Damnit." Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 0:09 Remy looked at her questioningly, still holding his arm around her. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 0:15 "We can't do this." Jean whispered. "Gambit, I'm sorry. It's all my fault." Somehow, instead of sending Jean into deeper intoxication, Gambit's kiss sobered her some. "I... I should go. I'll go somewhere else. Thank you for... uh, the drinks." Finding a twenty dollar bill in her pocket, Jean took it out and threw it on the bed. Standing up, Jean looked around to make sure that she hadn't left anything else other than her integrity. Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 0:22 Remy jumped up and went to stand in front of her. He wouldn't bear having her walk away, once again having negative feelings about him. "Jean, it wasn't your fault," he said, making his voice sound soothing and reassuring. "I made de first step... happens to me a lot." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 1:00 Jean looked up, deep into Gambit's eyes. He was truly sorry. "No. No, I teased you. I wanted it, too. I shouldn't have done this," she said, trying to get past him. If they had been in different places in their lives, Jean knew, they would be great together. Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 11:30 "An' so you're just gonna run?" Remy raised his brows with a small smile, not letting her past. "Come on, seriously, stay here, I'll jus' go back to work an' not bother ya anymore." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 17:05 Jean couldn't tear herself away from Gambit's gaze. "I really am sorry." She hadn't realized until now that she was holding on to Gambit's arms at his elbows and she dropped her hands to her sides. Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 17:09 "Jean, don' apologize," Remy said. "I should've know better than t' confuse you..." he walked to the door. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 17:11 Jean called after him with a slight tone of irritation, "Wait. Confuse me? I think we knew what we were doing, Remy..." Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 17:14 Gambit turned around with a small smile. "I personally had no idea. I happen t' be impetuous. An' you were..." he paused. "Slightly inebriated." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 17:17 "Whatever," Jean mumbled as she kicked off her shoes and crawled into the bed. Disappointed, alone, and slighly pissed was not what Jean expected to be when she got to the city. Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 17:21 Remy studied her for a moment, trying to catch some of her emotions, even though he was standing too far from her to do that. "Jean?" he asked. "Did I jus' make ya feel bad?" Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 17:24 Jean rolled over on her side so all Gambit could see was her back. She didn't really understand why she was mad at him. She was upset at herself, yeah, but she assumed that being angry at herself was connected to his actions, also. Jean didn't reply to Gambit's question, trying to seem aloof and hard to get... not that he was trying to get her anymore. Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 17:28 Her body language told him everything. Smiling at that, though he was feeling incredibly awkward, he returned to the bed and sat down at the edge of it, his back to Jean. "We got fryin' pans down in de kitchen," he said. "I can bring you one so you could hit me on de head. I really didn' mean t' make you feel bad, I'm sorry, chere." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 17:31 Jean shut her eyes tight, trying to stop the slight excitement that washed over her as Gambit said 'chere'. Almost at a whisper, she said, "I'm okay." And even though she didn't mean it completely, she added, "I think you should go...." Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 17:36 If she said so, it was evidently the wisest thing for him to do. Even though he didn't hear any confidence in her voice. "Awright," he said, standing up and walking to the door. "Good night." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 17:39 As she heard Gambit reach the door, a tidal wave of emotion hit her. It was something that she felt she couldn't control. Silently, tears started to pour from her shut eyes. Jean refused to make a noise as Gambit left the room. She didn't want him to see her cry. Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 17:45 Remy felt her emotions reach him as he left the room. His first impulse was to run back and hug her or something, but he feared he would only make it worse if he actually did it. He closed the door behind him, but couldn't bring himself to leave the hallway.
He leaned against the wall and slid down to sit of the floor. Wasn't it pretty - practically the same thing for the second time. So much for Jean's catching up on the past events. Remy hit his head against the wall behind him. Idiot, he told himself. Couldn't you just leave everything normally, the way it was when she just walked in? Just had to f*ck up everything all over again? Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 17:48 Once Jean heard the door dryly close, she hiccupped and opened her eyes. Looking at the wall through watery eyes, Jean wasn't sure how she got to where she was. The tears wouldn't stop and they quickly soaked a spot on her pillow. She wanted to shrink up and disappear. She hated herself. Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 18:03 Remy got a cigarette out of his pocket and lit it, taking a long smoke. He stared at the wall in front of him. More than anything he wanted to go back to the room and talk to Jean, see if he could make it better for her in any way, but he had promised that he wouldn't bother her after he stepped out of the room, and adding a broken promise, however small, on top of everything probably wouldn't be a sound idea at the moment.
He had no sound ideas at all. Everything he could think of would probably just make it worse. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 18:08 After a few moments of self-loathing, Jean felt exhaustion take over. Her eyelids became increasingly difficult to keep open, and so she allowed herself to close her eyes to try and sleep. Even with everything running through her head, Jean slipped into sleep quite easily only after a few short minutes. Her tense muscles relaxed some and for a fleeting moment in between being awake and unconsciousness, she felt comfortable. Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 18:12 As Gambit smoked his cigarette till the end, he somehow managed to calm down a little, but confusion was still there. Finally he got up and walked back to the bar, intent to stay up working until the morning to see Jean when she would wake up. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 18:38 ------------------------------------------------ In the morning, Jean woke up in a slight haze. Sitting up in her bed, it took her a moment to remember where she was. Once it hit her, she felt a pang of disgust in her stomach. What did I do? she thought as she rubbed her temples. Getting out of bed, she saw that her shirt was unbuttoned but she still had her clothes on. Finally, she found her shoes, tugged them on, buttoned her shirt, and left the room. Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 18:45 The club was completely empty, and Remy was nearly sleeping at the bar. He heard the sound of feet up in the gallery and raised his head to see Jean. "Mornin'," he said. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 21:53 Jean looked up to find Gambit leaning on the bar. She nodded and said, "Good morning." Making her way down the steps, Jean didn't want to make eye contact. She concentrated on her feet and the steps, taking her time down them. Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 22:04 "Want some coffee?" Gambit asked.

Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 22:06 Jean's head throbbed slightly, "Uh. Yes, thanks..." Finally making it to the bar, she sat on a stool and held her head in her hands, elbows propped up on the counter. Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 22:14 "How's your head, chere?" Remy asked, noticing her condition. He set the coffee machine working. For a proper cup of coffee he could, of course, go to the kitchen and prepare it, but he didn't want to leave Jean alone. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 22:18 Jean hummed lazily, "Not great. I hope that cup of coffee is big enough to set me straight." Massaging her temples again, she looked up, and noticed the dark circles under Gambit's eyes. "Didn't you sleep?" Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 22:20 "Nope," Remy replied. "Wanted t' make sure you be okay. Hey, if ya got a headache, I've got some handy barman secrets t' remedy that," he gave her a smile. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 22:22 "Please. Share." Jean said as she crossed her arms, cradling her head in the crooks of her elbows. Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 22:29 "Okay," Remy smiled, getting into his barman mood again. "An egg yolk... a spoonful of hot soy sauce... two drops of Tabasco... salt 'n pepper. Stir an' drink. Wanna try?" Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 22:31 Jean couldn' t imagine digesting that. Bringing her head back up, she said, "Ugh.. I think this might be better than having to choke that down." Closing her eyes, pretending to focus on getting rid of her headache, Jean was still trying to not look at Gambit. Guilt was the only feeling she had right now. Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 22:40 "Awright, den we'll try it de traditional coffee way," Remy didn't argue. He poured her a cup of coffee first, placing it in front of her, then got himself a cup as well and sat down, propping his head on his hand. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 22:42 Usually, Jean drank her coffee with cream and sugar, but she didn't want to dilute the strength of the coffee, so she just drank it black. "So... What do we do now?" She said, briefly looking into his eyes, only for a second. Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 23:00 Remy shrugged, turning his head at her slightly, still supporting it with his hand. "Well, if ya mean right now... den I go home an' get some sleep. Dere's nothin' much else I could actually do right now," he gave a wry smile. He spent the entire night thinking about what happened, and it exhausted him more than actual bar work could have. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 20, 2007, 23:06 Jean didn't feel up to drive all the way back to the institute but she figured she had to go some where if Gambit was leaving. Sitting up, she said, "Oh. Okay, well I guess I'll go then." Taking a long sip of her coffee, she started to stand up. Jean didn't know what to expect from Gambit. She didn't even know what to say to him. In contrast from last night, she was now uncomfortable and slightly nervous. Posted by Gambit on Jun 20, 2007, 23:33 "Wait, chere," Remy said calmly, fixing her in place with his eyes. "Don't run away, I'll call you a taxi." He got his cellphone and dialled a number. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 21, 2007, 7:06 "But... My car. I have to get it back somehow." Jean stopped before saying 'Scott's car'. She didn't want to remind Remy that she was with Scott. She sat back down on her stool and looked at Gambit as he used his cellphone. Posted by Gambit on Jun 21, 2007, 10:01 "You came by car?" Remy asked, putting the cellphone away. "Sorry," he smiled. "Didn' know. Well, den, I guess, if my askin' you to stay for ten more minutes won't stop ya, den nothin' will." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 21, 2007, 16:32 Staying seated, Jean said, "No. I guess ten more minutes would be fine." Looking down into her coffee cup, "Could I have a little more please?" Posted by Gambit on Jun 21, 2007, 16:57 "Sure," Remy got her more coffee. "And Jean... please stop killin' yourself." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 21, 2007, 17:29 Looking back up, Jean caught Gambit's gaze. "What am I supposed to do? I'm not going to be happy with myself or anything like that. We're both involved with other people. Last night wasn't good. Well, the kiss was good. But... No. I f*cked up." Posted by Gambit on Jun 21, 2007, 17:33 "Not you, Jean," Remy said. "I did. I told you, I always f*ck everythin' up. At least now you know I'm a part of your past... an' you can just move on with the future." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 21, 2007, 17:37 Jean was slightly shocked at his statement. "What... You mean... Try to forget you? I apparently already did that. Besides, you know that we had some kind of history." She was confusing herself as she spoke. She didn't know what she was trying to say. She shook her head, "There were two pairs of lips last night. This isn't all your fault. I'm not letting you take the blame." Posted by Gambit on Jun 21, 2007, 17:44 "Not forget me, dieu," Remy chuckled. "I meant more like... well, you can just as well consider last night a part of what we had years ago. Not a part of anything right now. Technically we did nothin' but refresh your memory from some years ago; you can just place it in a correspondin' part of your mind and move on." He paused. "I know it sounds kinda... total nonsense, I just think you could see from a different perspective." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 21, 2007, 17:48 How do I explain to him that his kiss was the best one I've ever had? Jean drank some more coffee, "I can try to move on. But I just hope that I didn't royally mess anything up. With you or with anyone else." Posted by Gambit on Jun 21, 2007, 17:58 "One kiss cannot mess things up," Remy said. "Only our attitudes towards it. Mine obviously wasn't too good when I..." wanted to kiss Jean and make things like they used to be. "Look." He sighed and finished his coffee. "I didn't have any feelings for ya when we dated. An' it ruined things for us eventually. So if ya feel you're missin' out on somethin' because you don't remember me - don't feel dat way. I'm pretty sho what you have wit' Scott is much better an' healthier." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 21, 2007, 18:21 Sh*t. Jean was slightly disappointed but didn't want to make it seem that way. She nodded and said, "Yeah. I think that's true. You're right." Jean thought that if she said it enough times that would acutally make it true, even if she didn't feel that way. "We should just move on. And, come on... One kiss?" -One amazing kiss- "That shouldn't be too hard to get over," She said with a chuckle. Even though I know I'll be dreaming about that kiss for a very long time. Posted by Gambit on Jun 21, 2007, 18:28 Gambit studied her face. "You don't sound like you mean it," he said. "Jean, I want you t' be okay, I really do! Please tell me what I can do about it." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 21, 2007, 18:33 Jean forced a smile, "No, really, Remy. I'm fine. Don't worry about it. We have it under control, right? We'll go our separate ways and that'll be that." Finishing her coffee, she thought, I think I would have remembered someone like him. I don't understand why I can't. He's so... Posted by Gambit on Jun 21, 2007, 18:36 "Not too separate, I hope?" Remy gave her a smile. "I visit de mansion sometimes... and I hope t' see you around here every now an' den, so..." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 21, 2007, 18:38 "Yeah. That sounds good. Just give me a call and I'll make sure to catch you." Her smiled turned to a genuine one. "What do you do when you visit the institute?" Jean finally settled on the right word: intoxicating. Posted by Gambit on Jun 21, 2007, 18:44 "Last time I been dere t' sew myself back into pieces an' give some information to de Prof," Remy said. "Next time I'll prob'ly be doin' some security stuff," he thought whether he should mention Shade, but decided not to yet. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 21, 2007, 21:50 Jean couldn't help but flirt again. The air that Gambit gave off was alluring and, involuntarily, Jean wanted to return that feeling. With a smirk, she said, "So since you're a theif, you know what security works and what doesn't?" Posted by Gambit on Jun 22, 2007, 0:21 "Exactly," Gambit said with a smile and definite tone of pride in his voice. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 22, 2007, 0:23 Jean smiled broadly. "It's good that you know what your strengths are." Posted by Gambit on Jun 22, 2007, 0:26 "I'd pay dearly if I didn't," Remy said. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 22, 2007, 0:28 "Oh? Why is that?" Jean said with a tilt of her head. Posted by Gambit on Jun 22, 2007, 0:31 "Well, one wrong move - and Gambit is either dead or in jail, none of which seems too appealin'." There were other alternatives as well, but he decided these two would suffice for an example. Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 22, 2007, 0:35 Jean hummed in acceptance. "I see. So what do you do on a regular Sunday like this? I mean, other than the days where you don't have an amnesiac ex-girlfriend stuck in your bar after a night of... whatever you want to call that." Posted by Gambit on Jun 22, 2007, 0:36 "I'm lucky not t' have any schedule," Gambit smiled. "I basic'ly do whatever I want on any day I want." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 22, 2007, 0:41 "That sounds like the definition of freedom, if you ask me." Jean said, putting her chin into her hand. "So... I guess I should get back. I just hope my blood-alcohol level is low enough to not get in trouble..." Posted by Gambit on Jun 22, 2007, 0:44 "No, it's been long enough, plus ya had coffee," Gambit said. "I'm sure it's all gone by now." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 22, 2007, 17:36 "Uhm. Okay." Jean stood up from the bar, made sure all of her coffee was gone from her mug, and pulled out the keys from her back pocket. "Well, Gambit... It was nice to meet you. For the second time, I suppose. And, honestly, give me a call when you come by the institute... I'd love to see you again." Posted by Gambit on Jun 22, 2007, 18:34 "Is mansion such a huge place these days dat we won't run into each other without a call?" Remy wondered with a smile. "See ya, chere." Posted by Jean Grey on Jun 22, 2007, 21:28 Jean slightly blushed, "Well. No, you'd probably find me... Bye, Gambit." She turned around and headed for the door. When she found her car, Jean stopped and looked at her reflection in the window. Her hair was noticably unkept, she missed a button when she was putting her shirt back together, and her makeup was smudged. At least my appearance matches how I feel... Jean thought.
