When Shade entered the Hellfire and looked around for Gambit, it was still afternoon. There had been another attack on the mansion recently and although she had not seen much of it but taken care of the children instead as the Professor had told her to, she had gotten rumours. Luckily, noone had been injured severely and there had been enough healers around to avoid the worst. She walked over to the bar and climbed onto one of the bar stools, orderind a Coke, waiting for Gambit.

Still a bit exasperated after the conversation with Phoebe, Gambit had a smoke in one of the other halls of the Club; he needed a moment to think, to rewind everything she had told him and to hide from his staff for a while.

When he walked back to the bar, he saw Shade, and his heart jumped a little. "Shade," he drew her attention to him, walking up to her.

Shade looked up when she heard his voice. "Hey, how are you?" she asked. It was good to see him, to get away from the mansion for a while.

"I´m okay." Shade said, smiling at him but her smile was a little thin. "There was another attack at the mansion."

"I know," Gambit said. "Phoebe came by half an hour ago, she told me. How did it go for you?"

So news was travelling fast again, Shade thought. "I took the kids to the tunnel again." she said. "You know... my powers wouldn´t have been helpful out there anyways and the Prof sent me a mental call, so I woke them and took care." She shook her head. "I didn´t get much of what was going on, but Night came to the tunnels later to tell us the coast was clear. All I gathered from her was that there had been some guy named Sinister leading the attack and that they had lost."

Remy got on a stool next to her. "Yeah," he said. "Fortunately, he's dead now, so ya don't have to risk meetin' him ever again."

Shade looked at him. "I didn´t know that." she said. Well, she might have guessed it, since the X Men had defeated him and his minions but this did not necessarily imply death. Something in the way he talked made her wonder. "You knew him?" she asked.

Shade noticed this was affecting him although she did not know how Gambit had known the other mutant. She reached for him and put a hand on his shoulder because she felt he was uncomfortable about it. "Well, he´s no danger any longer then." she mumbled.

Even dead, Sinister was still a thread to Gambit. If anybody ever found out the details about their collaboration... He had mentioned working together with Sinister to Xavier and was now seriously worried whether it was the right thing to reveal any connection whatsoever.

Shade looked at him and let out a sigh.
So her guesses had indeed gone into the right direction, she noticed. She had guessed that Gambit had gone to find out things for the Professor after he had returned to the mansion and after she had heard him talk to Mystique in the lab. And all of a sudden it became clear to her that Gambit must have put himself in great danger back then ... if he had been after a mutant who was reckless enough to attack the mansion... his own kind.

"So he was behind the first attack, too...." she drew the conclusion. But there was so much she didn´t understand. "Why would anyone do that? Why would he turn against mutants? Work with those that hate us?"

"He's got nothin' against mutants," Remy said. "He's a geneticist. Well, was." He still wasn't used to the idea of Sinister being dead. "His recent project was to seek an' create interestin' combination of mutant genes, so if two mutants had a child, he was after dis child."

He paused, letting her piece it together. She had obviously been left out on information known to the X-Men, and probably that lead her curiosity to start guessing things.

Shade suddenly felt sick. How could anyone be like that? She had only known that the attackers had been after Mystique both times but somehow had never made a connection that they had been after her child. Now suddenly this all made sense.

And other things made sense, too. Gambit´s own behaviour, his insisting on protection although she herself was taking counterceptions. She looked at him. "So that´s what it was all about." she said in a low voice, referring both to the attack and to his literal protectiveness.

Shade tried to comprehend all this but found the thought of being involved in something like this - being pregnant and having a mad mutant be after her child to experiment with it was too much for her to understand. She nodded. "Well one less danger for Shade now then." she said.

Shade playfully rolled her eyes at the shagging remark and chuckled, then shrugged. "Well, I guess I´ve been used to my powers being just a vanish / unvanish myself thing for such a long time that I have to get used to expanding them, so I don´t think about that all the time."

Shade smirked it him. "Oh...well, that´s not too difficult." she said. Letting different body parts vanish wasn´t too difficult, the finer tunings were what she didn´t manage yet. She placed one hand on the counter and let her arm vanish up to her shoulder. "It´s like slowing it down, then stopping it." she explained. "It´s detail stuff and making others vanish which is harder."

It's got worse music dan back dere in de main hall, really nasty acid stuff, so we keep de sound blocked from de main hall," he pointed back at the little labyrinth of entrance through which they had passed.

Walking in, Shade let her hand run along the side of a table when she went past. This place was huge, she thought. She never would have thought there was so much more to it. "I start to wonder why I never insisted on a tour." she said and turned to look at him. He had to be really proud of this place and in her opinion rightfully so.

Shade gave him a smirk as they walked along the gallery. She had not seen him for a few days, not since they had been out clubbing together. Then there had been the attack and she had stayed at the mansion the day after that, waiting for things to settle down first. She had missed him, as always, and as they walked along, she had to keep herself from stopping in her step and pushing him against the nearest wall, kissing him.

"Aaaand de Rainbow lounge," Remy swirled her around, stopping to have her face the corridor in front of them. There were seven rooms, and each had a door of different color, indicating the color scheme and style of the room hidden behind it. "Which one do you like?"

"An excellent choice, ma cheri," Remy ran his swipe card over the card reader and opened the door. Blue and red rooms were his favorite, though orange also had a playful air about it.

The room's best part was the huge bed in the center and the mirror in the ceiling above it. Everything in the room was dark-blue, except the lamps that gave purple light upward along the walls.

Shade stepped into the room and looked around. The place had an atmosphere she liked at once, but then again this might have to with the fact that she liked blue things. She turned around at him, slight mischief flickering in her eyes. "And again I wonder why I´ve not seen any of this before." she said.

All beds in the Rainbow lounge had strap bands attached to them, Gambit had taken care of that the first week after the Club had opened and some clients had suggested some modifications. Now he used those bands to tie Shade's wrists together and fix them to the bed-head. Then he tied her legs, spreading them apart and giving Shade just enough length of straps to bend her knees a little.

Her abilities to move were limited now and Shade knew she could not break lose of her own; still this thought did not worry but rather excite her. She knew by now that he enjoyed to have the upper hand when they had sex, although he would allow her to be in charge now and then and obviously enjoyed these times just as well.
