Obediently, Kevin followed her to the couch. While he acted mostly mechanically, signals from his surroundings were getting through to him but as if muffled and often with some time lag.

Once to the couch, Tabitha helped him to sit. "You're staying here, okay." She said and tried to get him to lie down.

As soon as Kevin returned to the couch, he lay down and closed his eyes, continuing to sleep tight.

Tabitha sighed, happy that it all went over rather well. She returned to the kitchen to close the window and then went back to the bedroom. Remembering to lock it as soon as she closed it. Checking on Mark real quick, before she got back into the bed.

For the rest of the night, Kevin slept barely moving. He stirred every now and then when he heard Mark beginning to whimper quietly at his own waking times, but as Tabitha took care of the little guy, Kevin would fall asleep again immediately.

Tabitha had fallen asleep, waking up everytime Mark made a peep. Taking care of him, whether he needed a diaper change or was hungry. The last time he woke up, after lulling him back to sleep, she herself fell asleep on the floor and cuddled with a blanket that had fallen to the ground.

Kevin woke up at the sound of his cellphone alarm beeping. He groaned slightly, being torn out of his sleep, reached for the nightstand, didn't feel it in its place, remembered he was sleeping on the couch in the living room, groped for the cellphone on the floor, found it and switched it off. Then the beeping sound finally stopped.
He opened his heavy eyes to look around. Two things that surprised him in a few moments were the distinct old smell of tobacco all over him and the sounds from the street indicating a window was open somewhere. He usually kept all windows closed during the night as it could get pretty cold in the morning and he worried about Mark. Did he open the window at night..?
He got up and, locating the sounds, headed to the kitchen.

Tabitha awoke to a small rustling sound that came from Mark's crib. She was momentarily confused about being on the floor, but just pushed it away and got up to check on Mark, who was still sound asleep. The room was a bit chilled, but it wasn't bad. Even though, she raised his baby blanket up to his shoulders to keep him warmer.
Tabitha then went to leave the room and upon opening the door shivered a bit. She gently closed the door behind her and headed to the kitchen. Pausing in the entry way, she yawned.

Kevin had just closed the window and turned around at the sound of footsteps and a yawn. "Morning," he said, seeing Tabitha. "You slept okay?"

"Yeah. Got up with Mark a few times and stopped some chain smoking in the middle of the night." Tabitha said the last bit teasingly. "But, I slept okay."

It took Kevin a few moments to digest her words. He then figured out the smell and the window. "Ah... Oh," he nodded slowly. "So, I was up, smoking?"

"Yup." Tabitha said and leaned against the door frame. "I got you to stop and you tried to get into the room, but I closed the door before you could get in, you hovered a bit. Then, I put you back to bed on the couch."

Kevin chuckled. He thought for a few more seconds before saying, "Well, that sounds like an awful lot of activity for one night," he glanced at the window.

Tabitha just shrugged her shoulders a bit and looked to the window. "There was a lot of smoke in here, so..."

Kevin nodded a few times as if saying, 'okay, okay...'. He was a somewhat worried about causing that much trouble to her, anyway. "How's Mark?" he asked. "Still asleep?"
