Typhoid walked into the Danger Room, preparing for both her usual expelling of pent up energy, with a little something added. She'd programmed a scenario this time, not just a safe space to vent. She was without knives; this wasn't so much a practice session as a testing ground for her powers. Knives became superfluous.
The space around her became trees, grass, and clouds, a forest made so real she could smell the water from a nearby stream. It was supposed to be peaceful, populated with animals and any number of other creatures that registered to her mutant senses as life. One day she'd have to ask the Professor exactly how this thing could so effectively mimic life that it fooled even her capabilities. Now that she thought about it, it was an appalling sort of weakness.
"Never mind that," she muttered. She stretched her senses out and the room became highlighted around her, the leaves and animals becoming technicolor in the neon green energy she generated. Everything that was alive was laid out for her senses like a puzzle whose pieces had just fallen into place.
And then just for a second...it went out. Void. No sense, no life. Damn.
It came back as quickly as it left, like someone turned a switch. But now she knew it wasn't her imagination.
She flexed her fist, and everything in the room turned to ash. It was meant to, to trigger the next scenario.

Sometimes college seemed so trivial to Kitty. After fighting battles and seeing so much suffering in the world, biology labs and essays felt silly and self indulgent. She knew it was irrational to think that way and tried to balance her studies with training to keep from slipping into nihilism.
At least once a week, she returned to Xavier's school to do free laundry and fight imaginary foes in the basement. After today's lengthy train ride, Kitty was mildly aggravated to find the Danger Room already occupied. Her afternoon was open and she'd already started her laundry, so she plopped down on the cold linoleum floor with her homework to wait for her turn.

Ty frowned, the new sequence wasn't coming up. Thinking that she probably programmed it wrong, she left to go up to the control room to fix it...and practically tripped over Kitty. "Whoa! Hey!"

Kitty looked up from her book and smiled. "Ty!" She exclaimed, jumping up. Her instinct was to hug her friend, but she caught herself and crossed her arms awkwardly. "What are you up to in there?" She asked, nodding slightly toward the door.

(OOC: I actually haven't the faintest idea whether or not it's safe for Ty to touch people right now, because she's gone back and forth so much and I'm trying bring an order to her past. I think it is safe, so I'm just going to go with that)
A slight expression of confusion flickered across Ty's face as Kitty crossed her arms, and then smoothed out with a half smile and a shrug. Kitty would tell her what was up, in her own time. "Doing a little practice, a little power use, and a minor test all in one. What're YOU up to?"

Kitty glanced at her backpack on the floor. "Just catching up on some homework until I can get a crack at some practice myself." She answered with a shrug. "I feel like I haven't seen you in forever!" She added. As a full time college student living in the city, Kitty didn't spend as much time as she once had with her old friends. "Do you maybe wanna queue up a street fight scenario? Kick a little virtual ass and catch up a little?"

She was right, it felt like ages, and she grinned at her friend. At the thought of doing a training scenario, the grin faltered slightly, but she covered it. "I was just trying to set it to something like that. I need a little power practice. I tried to set it up earlier but I think I did it wrong."

Kitty frowned. Ty had more experience in the basement than she did and it seemed unlikely that she'd made a mistake. "What happened?" She asked, glancing toward the control room. She was feeling restless and eager to expend her nervous energy.

She shrugged. "I don't know. I think I just programmed it wrong, it didn't register the change in scenarios." She went over to the programming pad just outside the door, hit a few buttons, and snorted. "Must've been sleepwalking or something when I programmed this." It hadn't been that or anything close, and she knew it, but it was a good way to joke about it. She'd been distracted, too much in a hurry to try to figure out what was wrong with her. She hit the right sequence. "I think I've got it."

"What's on the menu?" Kitty asked. Danger Room scenarios could be pretty much anything, and she didn't want to invite herself into Ty's training if it wasn't appropriate.

"Hand to hand combat," Ty replied. "I didn't program them with weapons." She gestured to her own lack of hardware with a wave of her hand, and then stopped thoughtfully. Kitty was her friend, had trusted her even when she found out about her past. And if she was going to fight in a session, she may as well know. "I'm trying to test something out. I didn't want weapons included."

Kitty nodded. Ty's abilities were a lot more complicated and dangerous than her own. "You mind if I join?" Now she was eager to practice and curious about what Ty was up to, but she didn't want to get accidentally incinerated.

Ty hit the button and followed her through the door.
It was a scenario she'd programmed before to practice with, a simple alleyway with dumpster on one end. It was open both ways, ending in streets as opposed to brick walls or fences. There were four opponents, two were without powers. The other two had powers, but the intention was to practice hand to hand combat, not to make extreme use of capabilities. Their powers were enhanced strength and healing, giving a combat challenge since neither Ty or Kitty possessed either.
