Betsy and Lance quickly established that the next guy up on the criminal food chain lived in a swanky apartment building near Central Park with a doorman, (who seemed pretty used to the idea of taking bribes), and two body guards. After tailing them for a few days, they got a good idea of what their daily routines were, and Betsy was able to arrange running into one of the guards on his day off. She worked her particular magic, landing herself a date, which led to a second date, which eventually lead to casual conversation about they guy's employer. Betsy, pretending to be an NYU student, talked about how she'd always wanted to see the inside of one of those fancy apartments, and the guard invited her to a party the boss would be holding there the following weekend. Betsy feigned giddy excitement, and asked if she could bring along her gay roommate (she relished the idea of sharing that tidbit with Lance), since he was a huge Gossip Girl fan and would die for a chance to mingle with the upper crust.
With plans made to meet the man who would get them closer to their goal (hopefully), Betsy took Lance shopping. The night of the party, as she got ready in her room, Betsy realized how much she missed this sort of lifestyle. She missed fancy dresses and servants, she missed gourmet food and pricey wine. As a nod to this nostalgia, she put extra effort into her preparations, making sure her hair and make up were just so. They would have to take a cab to keep up appearances, which was a bummer, but she knew it was necessary. When she was satisfied with the final touches, she emerged from her room and slowly descended the stairs, enjoying the drama. She was dressed in a long, but form fitting black halter dress with a high slit on one side with a pair of dangerously high silver stilettos. Her hair fell in loose ringlets down her exposed back, though it was pulled back on one side by a white gardenia.
