Bella Donna glanced at Shade and the bartender. She noticed that, obviously, he knew the girl so she probably came to the club more often than she said she did. Or maybe he was a friend.
" 'ey, come on," she said, almost chiding, "no sense in comin' to a club an' just drink Coke. Have a cocktail, an' we'll drink to somethin'."

"All right." Shade said, chuckling again with a shug. She didn´t really drink that often, rarely actually, but she guessed that a cocktail would not hurt, so she ordered one that looked like it wouldn´t knock her off her feet right away and waited for the bartender to fix it for her. "What shall we drink to then?" she asked, somewhat amused, as he placed the drink in front of her.

"Alors, I dunno," Bel shrugged. "To reliable men?" she suggested, holding her glass up.

Shade nodded with half a grin and raised her glass. "To reliable men." she said. If Bel really was who Shade suspected she was, this scene was rather bizarre, she thought and briefly pictured Gambit strolling in on it. The thought was somewhere between awkward and funny, she couldn´t really decide what outweighed the other.

Bella Donna downed half of her glass in one go, feeling she needed it right now. With something between disgust and worry she looked towards the club entrance and then around the hall.
"I need t' look around," she said, hopping off the bar stool, holding her glass.

"Okay." Shade watched her, noticing the other woman was not swaying really. Which meant she could cope with the alcohol rather well, even though she had downed quite some of it in a short time. Looking around didn´t sound like too good a thing. Or rather, it could go well, as long as the other woman would not inquire more about her. Because the staff knew her. And after all the time she had been with Gambit, most of them also had a good idea bout the fact that Shade knew him quite a bit better than she had admitted. "There´s a dancefloor over there and then there are some rooms and the gallery." She was throwing in some of the highlights of the club. It would definitely be better if Bel just ´had a look´ instead of ´had a look and busied herself with some questions´

"Oh yes," Bella Donna nodded at the unasked-for guidance. "I think I'll manage," with that, she walked further into the club, noticing how her head was... giving off signs of some spinning as she walked.

Shade watched her stroll off, making sure she was out of earshot. She had turned on her stool and had an elbrow propped up on the counter. Now she leant back, giving the bartender who had spoken to her earlier a sign. He walked over. "Joey." she said. "if this woman asks any funny questions, just in case: I don´t come here often and I don´t know Gambit any better than the majority here, okay?" Joey raised an eyebrow at her. "Why?" he asked. "Not important," Shade said.

Just before the second cocktail caught up with her some fifteen minutes later, Bel managed to get some bits of info from a young waitress who seemed like the least confident person around the house. Maybe she was new. Either way, Bella Donna now knew who Shade was. Still, the fact that Shade had lied and concealed the fact of knowing Gambit did not anger Bella Donna (that is, any more than she was angry at him already). It merely upset her.
With a frown and a sad look, she returned to the bar, placing her empty glass onto the counter.

Shade had lost sight of the other woman for a while and had wondered whether it wouldn´t possibly be safer and more reasonable to just leave her drink there, half finished, and leave. It would probably be the least trouble. Bel was possibly on her best way of getting drunk and no matter how this turned out, her telling Joey to keep his mouth shut did not eliminate the other possible chattermouths around the place. She was about to do that and had already turned back to the counter when she noticed Bel returning. She shot her a glance. "You´re back." she just said. There was something in the other woman´s eyes that she did not like.

"Oui," Bella Donna replied, still frowning as she got back onto the same bar stool she'd left a while ago. A small miracle that it was still not occupied. She looked at Shade, considered her own state, taxed herself inwardly for getting tipsy so fast and before Gambit even appeared at the club, then looked at the bartender again. "Come on, fix me up wit' somethin' nice," she demanded. "Tequila Sunrise, Martini, Pimm's, that kind." Then she glanced at Shade again. "You havin' anythin'?"

"I´m still not finished with that one here." Shade said with a thin smile, indicating at her own cocktail. So she at least didn´t jump at her throat. Did that mean she was safe? For a moment Shade had had the feeling that someone had ratted on her, but Bel´s reaction didn´t exactly fit the mental image she had always had of Gambit´s wife. Which was nothing much but ´assassin´ and ´bad temper´. Which in short was nobody to mess with. But it looked like things were fine. Shade sighed inwardly with relief.

Such a wuss, Bel thought with a smile, then sighed. Of course, it would have been better if she'd done the same smart thing and taken her cocktail in a really slow manner, just dragging it out for the evening. She leaned with her elbow on the counter, supporting her head with her hand now. "LeBeau showed up yet?" she asked, fixing her eyes on Shade.

"Not yet, no." Shade said, before noticing that she might have made a mistake. Bel had referred to him as´Gambit´ up to now, why would she all of a sudden assume that she knew his last name, unless... Shade remembered that she had not known Gambit´s last name for quite a long time. For the first few months of their relationship actually. Just his first name, and his code name of course, but not more. Only after the accident, when Rogue had tried to help her find out from the hospital staff where he might be, she had learned more. Therefore: oops.
All of a sudden, that cocktail was rather interesting and Shade, very well aware she was being stared at, took a moment to drink from it, trying to pretend that there was nothing odd about the woman who was very possibly Gambit´s wife, staring at her.

"Ah," Bella Donna nodded, quite satisfied. She pretended to be awfully interested in watching the bartender mixing her a drink, but then she couldn't help commenting, "So he told you 'is last name. Nice." It was probably the alcohol affecting the amounts of information that she could keep to herself.
