Shade made a motion that looked like half a headshake. "Not too often, but every once in a while. It´s an interesting place, mutant only and all," she said. This wasn´t even a lie. She noticed that Bel was drinking quite fast. Of course she might have some sort of powers that kept her uneffected by alcohol, but she looked like someone who didn´t care whether or not she got drunk. Fine with me, Shade thought. Maybe she would get talkative and spill what she wanted from Gambit.
"Are you from New York at all?" she then added, sounding nothing but just randomly interested. With good reason.

"Nah," Bel shook her head. "N'awlins." She looked around, as if trying to catch a glimpse of Gambit walking around through the crowd. She noticed that her tiredness was beginning to mix with the effect of the previous glass of alcohol, and she told herself to slow down on that. Would be no good facing Gambit all drunk.

Shade didn´t know whether or not she had expected that, but found that, when Bel said it, it did not completely surprise her. A woman from New Orleans, looking for Gambit. That didn´t sound good. Not at all. She shot her a brief sidewards glance, making sure, Bel did not notice. The age fit. Gambit had mentioned once that him and his wife had grown up together. His wife... that sounded strange, even in thought. If this was her. it could as well be someone from his family. Maybe a sister. A cousin. A friend. But something told her to be careful. Which meant assuming the worst-case scenario. That this was Gambit´s wife she was talking to. The woman who, as she remembered, had cut Gambit out of temper of she had been correct with her guesses back then. The one that was an assassin. Nope. Not good at all.
"Nice." she said. "I´ve never been there myself, but I heard it was an interesting place." Again, not a lie.

Bella Donna could not hold back a laugh. "Interestin'," she said with an amused smile. "De best place dere is." Not without gloat, she thought that Gambit was denied that place, in a sense. Serves him right. She was having mixed feelings about that, anyway. "Say, d'ya know the owner of dis place?"

Know him? Shade pondered, noticing there was some sort of bitchy pride to that thought. Oh, if you knew how I know him. "Gambit?" She asked instead, sounding perfectly innocent and girl-next-door-who-would-never-sleep-with-your-possible-husband. "Most people here know him." Lucky, she thought, that the bartender was discrete about it, not making her be suspitious by starting to talk to herself, Gambit´s girlfriend. She hoped it would stay that way.

"Yeah, but I ain't askin' about other people," Bella Donna remarked. "Ya ever spoke t' him? What does he do 'round here?"

It didn´t sound like the other woman was in any way suspicious against her. And why should she anyways. "Well, he owns the place," Shade said. That was a bit of information that was not difficult to obtain; it was well known. As for the rest, there were a few useful things that she had learned from Gambit over the years. One being not to give away information to someone one did not know, but to be on guard. "I´ve seen him here a few times, talked to him, yes." Again, she made it sound random.

Bella Donna felt disappointed. Either Shade was deliberately not sharing the information or she was actually uninformed. In either case, there was not much use in further pursuit of the subject. Maybe there was sense in asking some of the staff... in a less direct way, of course.
"Ah, I see," she merely said, taking her glass and turning around so that she could observe the hall while leaning with one elbow on the bar counter behind her.

Not too talkative about it, Shade thought, but decided it was safe to be a bit more offensive herself. As long as she didn´t make it sound too strange. "What do you want from him if you don´t mind me asking?" she asked.

"Oh, not at all," Bella Donna replied, adding in thought that it was giving the answers she could mind, not receiving the questions. "Personal matters," she said, not bothering about details. Oh look, the girl was curious. Did she always behave like that around the club's patrons?

Shade noticed that Bel was evasive. Well, she might have her reasons, just like she herself had and Shade decided not to dig any deeper. At least not now. Maybe after another cocktail. Or two. "Oh well, you know." she said instead, seemingly stirring away from it. "Men. Can´t rely on them at all."

"What d'ya mean?" Bella asked with some surprise.

It had been an attempt to lighten up the conversation, an attempt to stir away from the mutual interrogation. Girls gossip. Something easy to maybe later find out more. But it didn´t seem like Bel was the type for that kind of talk. "Nothing really." she said. "but men not showing up when they´re supposed to is kinda typical." Urgh, get away from that bit, Shadey, she thought.

"Ah," Bella Donna nodded. "Yeah, well... 'specially not dis one. Can't rely on 'im." She glanced at Shade and said before taking a sip of her cocktail, "I hope ya never do."

Shade gave a little chuckle at that. "I´ll keep it in mind." she said. Her coke was nearly finished and the young guy behind the bar took that as his clue to lean over a bit. "Hey Shade," he said. "can I get you something else, or do you stick with coke?"
