Shambit subplot and the Institute

Hey everyone :-)

We, as in me and Gambit, noticed that the current Shambit plot which was kicked off two years ago already is bound to become larger than we'd thought it would, it can include more people. Therefore, I´m opening this thread for possible reactions and suggestions and to get some questions tackled.

Here´s a short overview for those who do not know what I am talking about.

Back in the day when Shade first came to Xavier´s, her little brother had just been murdered a few days before, she was looking for help or revenge. At the beginning of the current plotline, she set off alone in search of Shona who had gone missing. While searching, she came to a hotel where she witnessed two men holding a young mutant called Manuel captive. She freed him and found out that these men were were brother´s murderers. She stole a document that proves the murder and used her powers on Manuel to get him out. However, unsatisfied with Shade just wanting to leave it at that, Manuel manipulated her with his own powers, focussing her on negative emotions so strongly that not only did she kill one man and injure the other but also did it result in amnesia covering everything that happened to her ever since she arrived in New York City.
Next thing happening, as already pointed out in the rumours thread, rumours of the murder started to spread as soon as the body was found. The other killer who was injured and briefly saw Shade and was therefore able to give a basic description of her, claiming she was a mutant. Shade ran and hid for two days until Gambit tracked her down and, assuring her he was a friend but not revealing any more, took her to his apartment where he is currently keeping her safe while the police keep investigating. He has not contacted Xavier´s so far because even though Shade by now knows about her amnesia, she doesn´t remember anything or anyone she met and nothing she did ever since arriving in New York and he can´t be sure what happened exactly, because Shade´s memory of Manuel is blurred. He thinks she might be dangerous.

So how does the Institute come in?
By now, the mansion should notice her absence and probably even make the connection between this, the murder and Gambit's earlier phone call to Storm when he was looking for Shade.

The question now is, and this is where all of you come in: how would your characters at the Institute react?
Which once we´re there, brings us to another point: Possible further developments.

1)
it might be possible that Shade is difficult to find with Cerebro, due to what Manuel did to her, possibly altering part of her „Cerebro signature“,so unless Gambit tells anyone, for anyone else she's lost

2)
Xavier will probably treat Shade's situation with understanding, considering the influence and her brother's death, but will others?

3)
In some way it is likely that in the one or other way she will regain her memory at some point we are still seeing into how. Again, here we want to avoid making things too easy a.k.a. just tampering with Cerebro.



I tried to keep this short, didn´t work, hope you guys´ll be bearing with me. :-)

Thoughts on this? Ideas? Suggestions?

And it´s already included above. However the Cerebro bit is new. Could we reasonably argue that way to make it difficult to just use that too easily?

Plus, that´s for Xavier. What about Pietro?

Pietro would be fairly sympathetic given the circumstances, particularly since this is out of his professional jurisdiction and thus not his professional problem. Even if he did not know that she had been under outside influence, to him this is fairly simple: she killed a serial murderer who preyed on innocent mutants generally and who had killed her sibling specifically. Considering his devotion to Wanda, he understands the sibling bond.

[Typhoid]

Typhoid knows Shade a little, and being as that Pietro would be sympathetic, Ty would probably respond in kind and help if needed. She knows places to hide in NYC if Shade needs that. If provoked enough, and if she understood enough of the story, well...Ty's been known to go rogue when it's called for.

Storm would be sympathetic, given her connection to Gambit, Pietro, and the Professor. At this point, he goal would be to keep further harm from occurring to anyone, rather then render judgment. She doesn't trust the current court system, so turning Shade in would not be first on her list.

...which is my long winded way of saying you have my support as well.

All right, this is a question to everyone: if there is anyone wanting to get involved in this plotline, please say so. So far, Shade is still at Gambit´s, but this might change soon even though Gambit and me do not have a full overview of possibilities so far, since it depends on how the thread with Storm goes.

But anyways, people wanting to participate are much welcome to drop a pm to either me or Gambit.
