Storm and Pietro had taken Kitty back to the mansion. She was confused and badly beaten. When she asked about Doug, no one had heard from him, and at first she was worried. As she recovered, she thought more and more about his seeming lack of concern. She'd been gone almost a month and he hadn't even been to the mansion. She had no idea if he'd called the police, but she still hadn't heard from him.
As her physical injuries began to heal and she began working through the emotional pain with the Professor, she realized that she didn't love him anymore. She needed to focus on herself, anyway, and felt ill-equipped to deal with a relationship.
After a tearful conversation, Ty agreed to go to the apartment and gather Kitty's belongings. She took a note Kitty had written and left it on the kitchen table. In the note, Kitty made it clear that things were over, but that she wished him the best.
