Name: Claire Belrose
Alias: Omen
Age: 19
Height: 5 feet 6 inches
Weight: 120 pounds
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Powers: Claire is able to see into the future, when she chooses. However, the farthest she is ever able to see is two minutes into the future, and she is only able to see things that will directly affect her. She is psychically blind to anything outside this two minute window. She is able to see all possibilities for what will occur within this window, and therefore can choose the actions that will take her down a particular path.
Claire has found that she can see farther then two minutes with events involving members of her family. She is convinced that there are more people out there that will allow her to see beyond two minutes, but so far, she has not found another person who is able to allow her to do this. She doesn't know why only particular people affect her this way.
She's also discovered that certain kinds of drugs increase her awareness astronomically.
Claire also has an eidetic or photographic memory, enabling her to recall minute elements of the visions she sees, both from the timeline she's on and from timelines that never existed.
Background: Claire was born into a wealthy, religious family in a small town in the Midwestern U.S. Though her parents are not mutants, both she and her two older brothers are. Her father is ex-military, and the founder and CEO of a small but growing electronics corporation, her mother is a programmer and is also employed there.
Claire has had relatively little problems in her family growing up, besides an occasional fight or two with her brothers or parents. Though for the first few years of her life the family moved around quite a bit, they had settled in Philly by the time she was 6, when her father was discharged from the military. When she turned 13, her mutation was triggered, and while her brothers had already gone through a similar change a couple years earlier, the nature of Claire's power required a lot of adjustment by her family. To this day, her father is still uncomfortable in her presence, though her mother and brothers have long since adjusted to Claire's abilities.
As tensions with mutants rose in the U.S., Claire's parents had to make a decision about whether or not to openly support the mutant movement, despite the potential backlash to both their livelihood and personal lives. They eventually made it known that their children were "special" and as a result have become somewhat isolated but for a circle of close friends, though they had little problems with their company staying afloat. Claire grew up playing with mostly mutant children, the offspring of her parents close, sympathetic friends. At times, she still feels like an outsider, because her powers allow her to see things others can't, and she has difficulty "shutting off" her abilities, as well as choosing which psychic path to follow. Her confusion has often resulted in a fugue state that is difficult to rouse her from, at times lasting days.
When Claire's parents heard of New Humanity, they immediately gravitated towards the more religious leanings of the organization, and eventually they became the primary supplier for computer technology to the group. Claire herself was of particular interest to the organization, and as a result Claire spent much time in the Indigo Children's facility in Philadelphia, up to the point of spending weekends there, working on strategy. Her parents knew that she followed New Humanity, but not of her work with the Indigo Children. She has told them she is part of a New Humanity outreach program for teenagers.
Though Claire has gone to regular schools most of her life, her parents, when hearing of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, immediately applied her, to see if the school could assist with controlling her abilities. She traveled back and forth between Philadelphia and Westchester as a result, spending weekends in Philly and weekdays in Westchester. When New Humanity went underground after the political atmosphere became too volatile, she and her parents disappeared. No one has seen them until now.
She was discovered in a derelict apartment by Gravity, just about to be picked up by Weapon X. She was hooked on drugs, extremely sick otherwise, and almost incoherent, and was taking money in return for telling the future. And when she came to, she'd seen a prophecy she knew she couldn't keep to herself.
Personality: Although she enjoys different hobbies, such as photography and different sports (volleyball is her favorite) Claire can be very distant and preoccupied, almost to the point of seeming bored. She has schooled herself to be calm as much as possible, and she can seem very otherworldly because of how she'll often anticipate how someone will react to her. She tends to depend on her powers too much, and can seem rude to others when she uses them unexpectedly. Most of the time, however, she can be sweet and very welcoming, though there is an underlying intensity and toughness.
