::Pietro had much to say on that topic, but no words or true opportunity to do so. This was about he and the other man more than it was about her.:: "It is your life to live."

"That doesn't mean what you feel doesn't count," she said, an argument she'd given before when he'd said the exact same thing. "It's just...I honestly want anything that's a part of you all to myself. Even if it's your double."

::Therein lay the problem, as two realities: one where she saw Pietro's double and one where she did not couldn't coexist. And he simply did not have the wherewithal to argue about it.:: "I know."

She came back up to him, held his face in her hands. "Can I reassure you of something, though?"

::Pietro nodded slightly, although it was done slowly, to avoid pulling her hands.:: "If you wish."

"If it came to the worst, if it came to a point where I had to make a choice, because the consequences would be horrible if I didn't...it would be you. With no hesitation." She ran her thumb along his lips. It was true. As much as the other Pietro seemed to have none of the hangups this one did...that didn't matter. She would not choose someone just because that person happened to be a 'fixed' version of themselves.

::That revelation came as a relief to Pietro. Although he would never ask such a hypothetical question, as it could come across as an ultimatum,it nagged at him. With Crystal, with Ororo, when competing against Tim for Rossignol, he could never "win." He did not view life or love as a game, but it was apt terminology regardless. He was never enough. That she would choose him given this scenario was important to him.:: "Thank you."

She nodded, and her hands went from his face to his shoulders. "I'm not going off and marrying, and I'm certainly not leaving. You will have me with you, please don't worry that you won't."

::Pietro would keep that in mind to the greatest extent possible.:: "I will remember that."

"We have a few hours before dinner," she said, knowing that this was the best she could do to reassure him, that he already assumed what she'd be doing with the other Pietro, that talking about it more wouldn't assuage fears any further. "Did you want to do something?"

"I didn't really have anything in mind, aside from spending time with you," she said, with a small smile.

::Their options were more limited, since she had a date for supper. Pietro offered,:: "If you choose something, we can do it."

"Coffee?" she asked, though she was aware Pietro avoided things that made his speed a problem. "Or tea? There's a coffee shop down the road, or we could simply make some in the kitchen." It didn't really matter what they did, the point was being with him.
