Just Breathe(Open)

It'd been a few days since she'd gotten back and Laura was still getting use to it. What didn't help was the occasional headache that would just about split her mind, but going to the lab was out of the question considering she hated that place. She decided to go get some fresh air to see if that would help. Walking, she ended up sitting against a tree leaning her head against the trunk and let out a breath.

[Ethan Ulrich]

He'd come out to the grounds earlier to try and swim but the water had been too cold. Ethan was too awake to go back to bed and so he'd ended up climbing trees. Ethan didn't know how long he'd been up there, but when he heard a sigh Ethan realized he wasn't alone anymore.

Ethan couldn't call down to get the girl's attention. But he decided to come down to not be rude. With a little shimmying and a jump Ethan hit the grass next to her.

When the guy jumped down next to her, Laura's body automatically went into defensive mode. She ended up moving her body forward off the tree so she was on her feet in a crouch, focusing her eyes on who ever it was and pulling her fist back ready to attack. Being snuck up on didn't usually happen to her but when it did she wanted to kill them. Her eyes narrowed on the person.

[Ethan Ulrich]

He dusted himself off and looked up at her. She didn't look happy to see him at all and Ethan wondered if this hadn't been the best idea. Maybe she didn't want company or maybe she just didn't like to be surprised. But Ethan didn't have a better plan to let her know he was here.

He waved and put his hands up to show that he didn't have anything to hide and that he wouldn't hurt. Maybe that would help her calm down. If not, Ethan was out of ideas.

Once Laura focused on who it was she realized it was someone who lived at mansion and most likely was someone who wasn't going to cause her harm. She relaxed a little and once she did she noticed she almost attacked him. Laura put her fist down and stood, taking a step back, but she still didn't take her eyes off him. Paranoia was one word for it.

[Ethan Ulrich]

That worked a little he thought because she didn't attack him. Ethan was happy about that because he didn't want to fight. She was still watching Ethan very closely but he didn't know what he could do about that. Ethan needed to put his hands down to get to his pad and he did that very slowly.

Watching him, she wasn't exactly sure why he hadn't said anything or introduced himself, though she hadn't either. Laura wasn't known for talking a lot and probably never would be. Normally someone could count the number of words she said out loud on their fingers. Her hands remained in fists and her body remained tense as she waited to see what his move was.

[Ethan Ulrich]

She didn't look like she was going to get anymore relaxed. Ethan didn't know what caused it but he assumed she just didn't like being surprised. But she also didn't attack him which was all Ethan needed right now.

With his hands lowered, he reached into his pockets to get his pad and pen. Then Ethan scribbled a note.

I'm Ethan and I hope you're okay. I didn't mean to startle you.

As soon as he reached into his pocket she tensed more and became more alert if that was even possible. To her it could have been a gun or a knife. When she saw it was a pad of paper and a pen she calmed down a little. "It's fine" Her voice was harsh not necessary toward him just the mood she was in due to the past events.

[Ethan Ulrich]

She said she was fine although it didn't really sound like she was. Ethan wasn't going to focus too much on that since she probably wouldn't like that. He nodded and kept watching her. She looked a tiny bit calmer and that was better than nothing.

Ethan scribbled another note under the last one and then held it up for her to read.

The weather's really nice today.

Laura gave a slight laugh. "Yeah I suppose it is" She'd never talked about the weather with anyone before but it was kind of nice not to talk about things that were personal. "Better then most" She let out a breathe and leaned against the tree crossing her arms over her chest and crossed her ankles still looking at the man intently

He was getting kind of nervous with how she was looking at him. Ethan wasn't used to that kind of attention. But she'd also started talking to him too and laughing and that was good. Right?

Ethan scribbled another note and held it up for her to see.

The weather's been pretty awful until a couple of days ago. I hope it stays.

"Not likely" She said plainly knowing that anything nice in this world didn't last for long. Darkness seemed to always be taking over the light, making someone's life miserable or harder. Lately it was getting harder for her to see the positive side.

That was kind of cynical. Ethan didn't expect that from most people but it was pretty obvious she was different.

He scribbled another note below the others.

We've got to take advantage of it while it's nice.

Laura raised an eyebrow. "We don't have to do anything" She emphasized on the we. "If you want to, have at it" Laura had a cynical point of view on life and she knew it. She had walls up that kept everyone at a distance for her and their own good.
