::It was only when they were alone that Pietro felt truly at liberty to speak. After fourteen years, he had developed genuine affection for Abigail, and the knowledge that she was his sibling rather than his niece nauseated him, but it did not erode those feelings. He gestured towards the door with the bottle of bourbon.:: "She is the only reason my hands are not wrapped around your throat right now."

Raven looked over at Pietro, her expression a tangle of hurt, anger, and confusion. "Do you think I knew this, and kept it hidden for fourteen years? Honestly?"

"It was a possibility you ignored," ::Pietro spat back at her, before taking another sip of his bourbon. It burned his throat, and he needed the cleansing pain.::

It *was* a possibility she had ignored. But Erik had used protection, and she had messed up with the birth control while with Charles. The logic made sense, unless Erik had succeeded before the entire affair with the birth control. Then that made everything null and void.
Currently, Raven felt sick to her stomach, and she did not need this right now.

"You won't be able to hide it for long," ::Pietro said, bringing the bottle away from his lips. And when Magneto learned of this...::

"I don't know what we'll tell her," Raven said quietly, looking at him. "We've been a family for fifteen years." And Erik...when he found out, it would be terrible.

::Pietro was furious, so furious in fact that he did not know how to properly express the emotion. Fifteen years of this, and he had only behaved because he had been assured the child was Uncle's. This child, Abigail whom he had grown to care for, would have as miserable a life with the weight of her paternity on her shoulders. He gestured with the bottle, if not for his metabolism, one might mistake him for tipsy.:: "Let me tell you what not to say: 'this is your real father, go with him. You will be safe.'"

"Of course not," Raven snapped, angry. "I don't want him to know. But he'll find out eventually, and I want him to have nothing to do with her."

"Good luck with that," ::Pietro said, the sarcasm deep in his voice.::

"I'll strangle him myself if he lays a finger on her," Raven promised him. Erik had *no* part in Abigail's life, despite the circumstances of her birth.

::The earned another scoff from Pietro, who then took another swig of bourbon.::

Raven was considering going to Charles's cabinet and getting out a bottle of scotch, but then decided against it. "He is *still* her father," Raven muttered, rubbing her temples.

::That was a concept with which Pietro was already well acquainted. He claimed the Maximoffs as his true parents, despite his subsequent childhood and adulthood.:: "Spirit is never enough."

"But she loves him," Raven countered, looking up at him. Perhaps she ought to get that scotch after all.

::That was not the point Pietro had attempted to make, and he glared at her.:: "And?"
