First Visit

[Odin]

::Odin paid the bartender when given his drink, and then settled down, a seat away from the young women; the club was crowded tonight.::

[Polaris]

Someone had settled in the seat just one away from Lorna, and she moved her coat so that it was further away from him, and over the back of her chair. She didn't really worry about something being stolen; it was more out of not being rude and taking up a chair.

[Shadowcat]

Kitty laughed. The bartender approached and she ordered another. Being young and petite and not much of a drinker, Kitty was feeling a little warm and friendly after her first quick beer. "As long as I don't start dancing, we should be okay." She said as another bottle was placed in front of her.

[Odin]

::Odin noticed one of the young women move her coat, clearing space, and he gave her a small nod of gratitude, before turning back to the bar. He hoped the coke would wake him.::

[Polaris]

Lorna caught the nod and nodded back in kind, before turning back to Kitty. "We'll each keep each other off the dancefloor. I'm not very good, either," she replied, smiling.

[Shadowcat]

Kitty laughed, a little too freely, maybe. "Not good is unfortunately an understatement in my case." She said, taking another liberal gulp from the second beer.

[Polaris]

Lorna sipped at her Pepsi. "Try ending up face down on the dance floor in the middle of sophomore prom," she said, laughing at herself.

[Shadowcat]

Kitty's laugh faded. "I wouldn't really know anything about proms." She said, her mood shifting with an uncharacteristic swiftness. Suddenly feeling sorry for herself, she downed the rest of the second beer, her plan of moderation all but forgotten.

[Polaris]

"I...I'm sorry," Lorna replied awkwardly. "I didn't know they didn't have one at Xavier's."

[Odin]

::That explained where the young women were from. Odin shook his head to himself slightly and took another sip of his drink. Not having a prom was progressive, admirable in its own right; but that would do little to ease someone's feelings about missing out on the "social experience."::

[Shadowcat]

Kitty shrugged. She was feeling detached from everything and kind of dizzy. "There's a lot of things that are different at Xavier's." She said without thinking. The bartender must have noticed her empty bottle, because he offered her another and she took it.

[Polaris]

"I guess so." Lorna took another sip of her drink, noticing Kitty was acting a little odd but unable to do anything about it. The third beer made her raise her eyebrows, but she didn't say much about it. "It's scary sometimes, I think someone will hurt me and I don't have powers to defend myself." She laughed a little self consciously.

[Shadowcat]

Kitty's eyes widened. "Well, we look out for each other." She said, a little forcefully and without adding any context. She meant the students, for the most part.

[Odin]

::That caught Odin's attention, although he knew better than to look over at her. She had to be a mutant, to be here, to be at Xavier's, and a cursory examination with his tracking sense confirmed that. There was a gene. He had to decide whether or not this level of eavesdropping was rude enough to make him introduce himself or leave them to their privacy.::

[Polaris]

Lorna had to laugh a little. "Right. You can phase through them and freak them out, and I'll stand and scream."
