"To see what is in front of one's nose needs a constant struggle," ::Odin replied, before taking another sip of his beverage, and then setting it down. That was accumulating more quickly than he'd hoped.::

Monet nodded, relating to her philosophy classes for the first time. She sighed before finishing her drink, tilting her head back and breaking eye contact momentarily. She set the glass down and asked, "So, when will we build this little robot?" wanting to move away from the sudden abstraction in their conversation.

"What are you doing Saturday?" ::With Odin's work schedule, weekends were always best, and that would give him four days to take a trip to a supplier.::

Monet looked thoughtful, as if trying to remember something, then said, "Oh, I think I'm building a little robot," and smiled.

::That brought a more genuine smile to Odin's lips, borne from amusement.:: "Good. Do you want to meet here?"

Monet nodded. "I suppose so. Where will we be going?" She briefly wondered if she should be going anywhere with a man she didn't know who wanted to show her how to build a little robot. Then she remembered that she could probably crush his skull with her hands and felt bad for thinking it at all.

"We could go to my office," ::Odin suggested after a moment's consideration. It was a public enough building to deal with any safety or propriety concerns. He knew how it seemed inviting someone back to his apartment after meeting them in a club, and he wouldn't impose on her to choose a location.::

That seemed like a proper compromise. Monet was impressed by Odin, he seemed a genuine gentleman. "That sounds good. Are you always this kind to strangers?" she asked, not to be cute or search for compliments, but in honest curiosity.

::Odin thought briefly about how he had acquired Stacy as his roommate, and how he had gotten her a job. He thought of how he had made most contacts in his time since graduation...most were through random encounters and politeness.:: "Usually, yes."

Monet nodded, not surprised. He wasn't impressed by her looks or her status, so far as she could tell. What had interested him was her little existential crisis. She was struck once again by how unique he was. "I could never be like that." She said, shaking her head, "I'm too easily irritated, and I don't think I'm very compassionate."

"I'm of the school of the thought that compassion can be learned, but that's for a day that isn't on the eve of tomorrow," ::Odin replied. It was harder to contemplate compassion in the masses with the next day's events looming over him.::

Monet smiled. "Every day is the eve of tomorrow." She joked, obviously knowing that he meant this tomorrow specifically.

::It was a clever response, and Odin's lip twitched into an amused smirk.:: "It is until something goes horribly awry."

Monet laughed loudly, and clapped her hand over her mouth. Composing herself, she said, "Indeed. But you don't honestly think you could teach a self centered, spoiled blue blood like me something as delicate as compassion do you?"

"I don't think anyone learns character traits from other people. They learn it through life experience. I can teach you skills and information, I can introduce you to other people, and if I were more of an inspirational individual, which I'm not, I might be able to spark a trait within you by making you reflect, but none of that is taught," ::Odin spread his hands in a philosophical gesture; this was what it was.::
