Monet was in a significantly better mood. After another pause, she asked, "How does one go from research to journalism?"

"It seemed like a worthwhile experiment at the time," ::Odin replied. He supported the idea behind it, the goal, and had wanted to see if he could help it flourish in whatever capacity it could.:: "It's the first mutant-oriented magazine, and as far as we know, the first mutant-owned one as well."

Monet nodded. "So, it was kind of another form of research?" She found herself not wanting their conversation to end, pictures of little robots dancing in her head.

"In a way," ::Odin agreed, nodding slightly as well. He'd found that he needed similar skills for both fields, which was to his benefit.:: "It holds my interest."

Monet leaned fully on the bar, with both elbows, but kept eye contact with Odin. "And you think little robots will hold my interest?" The way he had phrased it, it holds my interest, was something she could relate to. She wished she could apply that phrase to more than fashion and boys.

::Odin took his refilled glass and sipped it slowly; two drinks were normally his limit for a night, if he wished to stay sober. He kept his eyes on her.:: "I think that: one, you won't know until you try, and two, there's something to be said for having something you made at the end of the day."

Monet felt a childish surge of anticipation, but didn't show it. She was starting to see his eye contact as a challenge, whether he intended it or not. She sipped her drink, then asked, "So, what will this entail?"

::Odin didn't view eye contact as a challenge, not in this circumstance. It was respect for a conversation, as well as a means to learn more about a person; expressions were revealing. Thoughtfully, he sipped his rum again.:: "On my end, I need to do a supply run this week. Then we would meet again, and you would need to do some delicate work, soldering, and some less delicate connective work."

Monet's self confidence (arrogance?) made it easy for her to maintain eye contact, though the intensity was strange to her. "So, what do I need to do in the meantime?" She was still accepting the fact that she had agreed to make a little robot. Also, the two words had fused. If anyone had asked if she was making a robot, she would have to correct them. A little robot.

"Not back out on me and be careful not to get caught in a riot tomorrow," ::Odin replied, his tone sobering at his second comment. Anticipation of tomorrow was what had brought him here in the first place.::

Monet's face fell slightly. "I plan on staying home tomorrow." She sipped her drink, "What are your plans?"

::The world didn't stop for a presidential inauguration, and so Odin had to go about his daily routine.:: "I have work, although I anticipate spending half the day watching CNN despite myself."

"Do you really think there will be riots?" Monet asked, feeling uneasy. It was not something she had considered before.

::Odin preferred to believe that everyone outside of his neighborhood was civilized, but he knew better. There would be altercations in his neighborhood, not necessarily riots, but harassment, and Chicago wasn't isolated in those tendencies.:: "I think it's possible, on both sides."

Monet chewed on her lip thinking about it. After a long moment, she said, "It's amazing, the things you see when you open your eyes."
