Character Name: Katherine "Kitty" Pryde
Alias: Shadowcat
Age: 20
Birthday: February 14, 1991
Powers: She can walk through walls, or any other solid material, by making the material intangible.
Background/Bio: Kitty Pryde was born in Illinois to Carmen and Theresa Pryde. She had a wholesome childhood and was a star student and champion athlete. Her parents realized she was a mutant when, at 14 years old, she fell through a counter top she was leaning on. They were torn between their love of their daughter and fear of her mutation, so made the decision to send her to Xavier's school.
Kitty fit in but for a long time didn't quite feel at home. She became friends with Bobby "Iceman" Drake, who made an effort to help her adapt. Bobby's then-girlfriend, Rogue, became jealous of the friendship, even though there was never any romance between the two.
By the time the mutant cure was discovered, Kitty had become comfortable with her routine of classes and training at the mansion. She watched the news coverage of the protests and clinic sabotage with a heavy heart, sympathetic to mutants who just wanted to fit in, but finally confident and comfortable in her own skin. Kitty believed that each mutant deserved the right to choose whether or not they sought the cure, and was disheartened by attempts by groups that tried to make it mandatory and other groups, like Magneto's Brotherhood, who wanted it destroyed. She fought along side her fellow X-men to restore balance at the battle against the brotherhood at Alcatraz Island. She fought with the X-Men a second time in the Wideawake battle against the sentinels.
After the second battle, Kitty found herself confused and doubtful. She was shaken by what she had seen and disillusioned by the things she now knew people were capable of. She packed her bags and left Xavier's School and returned to Illinois, where she was welcomed home by her parents, who had finally accepted their daughter's mutation. They had also learned a valuable lesson about the dangers she faced by watching the battles and mayhem on the news. Kitty tried to resume a normal life, taking a job at the local supermarket. Unfortunately, Kitty soon realized that, after all she had been through, she would never be satisfied living that way. She knew that her destiny lay with the mutant community, even if that destiny wasn't at all clear. After a few months with her family, working and saving money, Kitty returned to Xavier's school. She found herself restless and full of doubts, unable to stop thinking about all the gray areas in the world.
Kitty graduated high school, celebrating with a small party at the mansion. The next semester, she started classes at NYU. While on spring break at the institute, she met Jarod (Tron), and the two immediately hit it off. She accompanied him to Hellfire the night Omen made her Prophecy, naming Jarod as one of the harbingers of the apocalypse she'd seen. Kitty tried to support Jarod as he dealt with this unique burden.
Appearance: Kitty Pryde is petite, with dark brown eyes and brown hair. Her style is casual and tomboyish.
Personality: Quiet but not shy, Kitty's known for being laid-back and not very easily upset. When she does speak up, she's very clever and often sarcastic. She's loyal and trustworthy, making her a good friend. She's athletic and into music and comics.
