::Manuel's heart beat entirely too fast, which in turn made him need to cough. He tried to hold it back with his hand not holding hers, pressed against his mouth to stifle the sound. They needed to get out of here quickly, before they were discovered. Knowing nothing of this woman's stamina, he did not know how long she could keep them both invisible, nor did he know how long he would stay conscious. He needed to rest, then to return and pay the men back for their treatment.::

It had been a rather long while since Gambit had last heard from Shade, and he decided to give her a call to see what she'd been up to. Long breaks were not an unusual occurrence in their relationship, but some he needed and some he'd rather do without. He dialed her number and waited for the answer.

Shade was still anxiously watching the two men hurrying along the corridor. One of them had activated the door with the swipe card, about to step back into the hotel room. It was by now no longer a problem to keep two people invisible for a longer time and she knew she was able to keep it up for a few minutes and therefore at least didn´t have to worry for her getting weaker all too soon, but she could feel that the young man whose had she had still firmly gripped wasn´t doing to well. She didn´t know what told her that, but the grip of his hand felt tense. Probably whatever these bastards had done to him earlier had weakened him. It would be better to get out as soon as possible, so she gave him a slight tug, indicating they should better make their way into the direction of the exit before the two men noticed their captive was missing.
Just as she was about to do a step into the oposit direction, her body turned already, she had the feeling her heart froze in shock. First she couldn´t sort it in, her emotions and general state being so upset and jumbled that she didn´t realize the faint sound nor the buzz that seemed incredibly loud in her ears. Her cell phone was ringing!
Had she been any clearer in this moment, she would have used her stealth to try and hide the sound, but she wasn´t clear, her adrenaline being high and her nerves on fire. Therefore, pushing against the stranger to keep the contact that was necessary to keep her powers extended on him, she hastily grabbed for her jeans pocket with shaking fingers and without taking out the cell phone to avoid the sound becoming more suspiscious than it was already, switched it off without answering it. She would probably remember the incident later and then she would probably check who it had been but right now she didn´t waste a thought on it in her newly uprising panic.

::Manuel's heart had already been pounding, the stress putting pressure on his lungs, and causing him to try everything he could to hold back the coughing which scratched his throat. It took everything in him to keep back that cough, and when he cellphone rang, his heart began to beat twice as fast, so hard that it began to ache. He almost laugh. To think he had escaped only to be done in by a random woman who could turn invisible and her cellphone. He was tense through his entire body when she turned it off, but he would not let her hand slip from his. Hopefully, they wouldn't be found, and if they were, he had a plan B, of making the two men weep like young girls and then running for what distance his strength would take him.::

Steve was right. Given the fact that when they went down there the police were no where in sight. This meant they had been played and the mutant had help. The two of them needed to get back to the room and fast before who ever made that phone call got there. Harry hurried up the stairs beside Steve. He didn't run down the corridor like he did, but he did walk fast. As he caught up with Steve, Harry heard a small but there noise, a phone. "Do you hear that?" He asked looking around for the source not looking into the room closely yet.

Steven had already his hand on the door knob to open it, but he frooze as Harry asked him something. Slowly, he moved his head and followed Harrys look. He had heard something, but was not that sure about it. Hardly, he listened to hear something, but there were nothing and nobody around them. After some seconds, Steven shook his head and answered "I have not heard anything." Then he turned around and finally opened the door to their room. In the middle of the room stood a chair, but without the young man they had left there. "DAMN!" he swore "I knew it!" Quickly, he stepped into the room and directely into the bathroom. Steven wanted to make sure, that the young man was not just hiding.

Her senses painfully alert, Shade froze in near panic when she heard the two men´s reaction. For a moment, she did not move, frozen in place, too confused to even think of her stealth, and not making a sound apart from her wildly hammering heart that appeared so loud to her that she was almost convinced of it being more treacherous than her cell phone.
She stared at the two men and breathed a sigh of silent relief when she noticed they were unable to locate the sound. Her grip had tightened around her compansions fingers and just in the moment where one of them raised his voice, seeing their captive was gone, she dragged the young man away, starting to hurry down the corridor, careful to be quick but at the same time make no sound.

::Manuel clutched her hand tighter at the sound of those voices...he felt his heart skip a beat in fear, and berated himself for it silently. He was better than they were; he simply needed to regain his strength, and then he would prove it. When the woman started to move, he went with her, forced himself to walk on his toes to limit the amount of sound he made.::

Shade had to make an effort not to start running, telling herself that it was safest if she took her time, making haste but not just bolting and causing a racket. Her steps were quick, but slowed down by having to drag the stranger with her.
In her head, she started to orient around the place. Two sets of staircases she remembered, down to the lobby, but this was the first floor only, and then out. If there were no obstacles, which seemed likely, they would be off and away before those two were even finished yelling their heads off.
She could tell that the young man was weak. Even though she couldn´t see him, she could tell, because she dragged him more than she led him. It irritated and roused her pity at the same time with the first one being the more dominant emotion amidst all the emotional chaos. There was no real time for pity right now.

Steven was rushing through the small bathroom, checking out every little corner without success. He turned around and went back into the other room to start searching there. Under the bed, behind the curtains and in the wardrobe. No trace of the mutant and it made Steven very angry. He could not believe, that they had blunder into a trap. The young man was gone.

::Manuel was dragging behind her, his energy all but sapped. The adrenaline had left his body, leaving only the injuries and the prior pain to affect his mind. His breathing came more harshly, and he felt his head begin to spin. Whispering, he said,:: "I need to rest."

Shade could tell the other one was getting considerably weaker. Oh please, she thought, don´t do that, not now, just keep it going on for another two minutes. "Just down the stairs." she whispered back. "we need to get out of their reach, we´ll find a corner on the streets and call you a cab or something." She felt cruel saying this, especially since she had no idea how long this guy had been in that hotel room with no food and water probably, but she had to press on this. There was no use in getting caught again.

::Manuel was clutching her hand as tightly as he could, but his grip had weakened substantially. The adrenaline from his rescue had worn off, leaving behind weariness, dizziness, and pain. Although two minutes was little viewed objectively, to him at the moment, it may as well have been two thousand. Each step began to take longer, and he began to lag behind her.::

Shade cursed inwardly. The way he clutched her hand told her he probably wouldn´t make it far and she was grateful that her powers were on a level by now that she did not yet have to worry about her powers wearing off too soon. When they reached the stairs, she therefore tugged on his arm a little and then waited up. "Lean on me." she whispered, tossing a glance over her shoulder. The voices on the other end sounded angry and they better be down the stairs soon. She wasn´t strong enough to carry him, but he would be easier to drag if he allowed her to take on some of his weight.

::Manuel need only be told once; he was too tired to protest for the sake of personal or masculine pride. He leaned against her shoulder, while eying the stars warily. This was the rock and hard place, because as dangerous as the stairs could be, the men looking for them were worse.::
