The urgent tone in the guy´s voice managed to get through her somewhat dazed state a bit and, making sure the papers were secure in her jeans pocket, Shade slammed the drawer shut and somehow managed to remind herself of rubbing over the knob with her sleeve to wipe off her finger prints. It was strange that she remembered doing something like that in a situation where her adrenaline was that high, but she barely noticed.
Turning around, she quickly tried to get an overview over the room. The window didn´t look like it was the safest route outside, however, with powers like hers one hardly needed an extra escape route. "Let´s go." she said, walking towards the door and stopping to listen for a moment. No sound yet, just some faint raindrops ticking against the window. It had started to rain. She opened the door, hesitating once more, making sure the two of them were still gone. It would be easy to get out and her mind, confused and in an uproar at it was, being proud of the fact that she at least somehow managed to focus on something else but these papers, totally blended out the fact that the young mutant she had just met might be less comfortable about just walking out of the hotel. Her powers were a given, they were part of her just like everything else and in moments of stress her thinking worked on basic levels. Get out, no one will notice. Easy. The rest can be dealt later. She tried to keep her raging emotions down but managed only to some extent. A thought popped up in her head that had Gambit been with her, even with his weak empathic powers, what was going on in her head right now, must have been rather irritating for him. Not to mention that he probably would have known what to do.

::Manuel's first thought had been the window, and he glanced in its direction; raindrops splattered against the glass. It had to rain; he could not think of a single scene more fitting to symbolize his life. There went his hope of burning the hotel to the ground. He turned, about to ask her if she needed help with the window, only to find she was by the door. She had managed to appear seemingly from nowhere; if that was her power, the door became more practical. Or she was insane and simply didn't understand the gravity of the situation. That these men were prepared to torture and kill, which was why they needed to escape when they had the chance. Yet even as the thought crossed Manuel's mind, he knew that wasn't it. She knew. He could feel her anger, her disgust, her rising sorrow, the urgency...he could feel it all. He could also feel her attempts to dampen it, which to his perceptions only made it worse. For some reason, concentration on emotions, even to dampen them, instead amplified them. Realizing that he was safer with cover, even if they used the door, he followed her over to it. He spoke hoarsely,:: "You shouldn't bother trying to hide your feelings; the entire world can see them."

Shade felt edgy. It was one of those situations where she didn´t trust her own emotions, where she didn´t know what she would do next. These situations were very, very rare, not because she would have been so terribly self confident, but because she usually didn´t get into situations like these. Now and then, yes, but not on a regular basis of course.
She turned her head to give the young mutant a look. She hadn´t stepped through the door yet and his words caught her attention for a moment. His words didn´t seem to make much sense at first, but, knowing a few people with empathic or telepathic powers, she drew a conclusion about what the stranger´s powers could be. "The entire world?" she asked. "or just people like you?" Even as she spoke the last couple of words her attention had shifted towards the corridor once more, since the worry of the two guy´s probably speedy return seemed to be more urgent than listening to what a stranger had to say about her emotions. Still, the thought made her a bit uneasy - not that the feeling of uneasiness could be topped at this point. She was used to people picking up on her feelings with the help of powers, but this guy was a stranger, so she didn´t particularly like the thought for some reason.

"Since I'm the only one here, the two are one and the same right now, aren't they?" ::Manuel asked, before coughing. That long sentence had irritated his already sore throat, and his body was struggling to produce enough moisture to lubricate it. Where had all his saliva gone? He thought he had heard a defensive tone in her voice, which was shored up by her distrust of him. Was that because they had just met, or did she have something against empaths? Having spent much of his life shunned for his powers, he tended to assume the latter. She would have to deal with it; after today, he wasn't going to be apologetic or ashamed, even around a person who had rescued him.::

"Probably," Shade replied, her attention on the door again. She didn´t have anything against empaths, or telepaths, since she assumed he had to be one of the two, but there were differences in how mutants with such powers handled their abilities. There were people like the Professor who greatly respected privacy, there had been people like Night who, accidentally or not, would dig around her head and there was Gambit with his comparably weak empathic powers who wouldn´t make it a great deal when it came to her but who was still able to pick up on her emotions which she had gotten used to and which she didn´t mind. But as she had thought before, she didn´t know this guy and therefore didn´t particularly like the thought. Well, it didn´t matter much, she thought, once they were out of here, they would each head their own directions and not look back anyways. She didn´t ask to confirm her suspition about his powers, it didn´t seem relevant of now.
Instead, she tossed him another glance, before stepping through the door, wondering if he would follow. As usual she was wearing sneakers and therefore her steps were almost inaudible, but still her emotions and anxiety put her in a state that made her look halfway composed on the outside even though her flight instincts and fear, rage and uncertainty were fighting a silent battle on the inside. Making a few steps into the corridor, she listened again, hearing nothing.

::Manuel glanced at the door where the mysterious woman had stepped over the threshold, then he looked over his shoulder at the window. One last time he weighed the chances of escape of splitting up and going through the window, or of going through the door but having another person for cover. It was best to stay together, even if he thought this route was inadvisable. As such, he followed her out the door into the corridor. He stayed pressed against the wall, ready to dart away if necessary.::

The corridor was still deserted and Shade felt her senses sharpen once more, her adrenaline high and she was astonished at how calm she was despite everything. She was still having a hard time trying to keep down her emotions. Not so much because she was afraid that the stranger whose name she didn´t even know might listen in on them, but more because her raging emotions were making it hard to focus on what to do next. It made it difficult to concentrate and there were opposing plans in her head, the stupidest of which went somewhere along the lines of going to lurk in some corner and beat up those killers. A ridiculous thought. Focus, Shade, she told herself. Focus. Think. Get out of her then then... then, whatever, then you´ll see. Get your butt out of harm´s way is what matters now.
She walked along the corridor in catious steps, not too intent on walking as close to the wall and protected as Manuel, a result of subconscious self confidence in her powers, being more focussed on listening. Quickly, they were a good way away from the room they had been in and on their way towards the staircase.

::Her rage fueled Manuel's own, and he had a few revenge fantasies which ran through his mind as well, not the least of which involved burning the hotel to cinder, though that was difficult with the rain outside. He followed her through the corridor, thoughts split between her emotional static and his own needs.::

Steven could not believe that they had left the room in such a rush, just to figure out that there were no police in there. The woman at the reception could not tell them, who probably had called them. As he and Harry were quickly getting back upstairs, he said to him "I have a bad feeling that we had left the mutant alone in the room. What if it was a diversionary tactic to get us out there?!" His breathe was fast as he took the next two stairs up. They were close to their corridor and Steven speeded up again. They only had to turn around the next corner and then taking a few more steps. Thankfully, there were no door between the stairway and the corridor. That would mean, they could directely see if somebody was there or not.

Shade felt her heart to a painful jump when she heard the voice of one of the men, only belatedly realising that she was safe since they were not yet there. It sounded like they had only seconds left - too short a time to find a decent hiding place, too short a time to run back into the hotel room and dashing forward was another option that seemed unlikely to be successful.
Turning around hastily she found the stranger was just a few steps behind her. "Take my hand." she hissed. "they´re coming back."

::Manuel's entire body tensed at the knowledge that they were returning; all he wanted at this moment was to run as far from them as possible. And he hesitated for the briefest moment; he had trusted her enough to follow her, but this predicament and many others in his life made him a suspicious individual. However, the hesitation passed, as he realized that at best he would be protected by her powers and at worst, he would have access to his own to remedy the situation. As such, he took those couple of steps forward and took her hand.::

Usually, Shade would warn people when she used her powers on the for the first time. Becoming invisible didn´t come with any funny side effects such as a tingling sensation or whatever, but the experience in itself could be a bit odd. Now however, she didn´t take the time for that but instead swiftly extended her powers to both of them as soon as she had contect with the stranger´s hand. Looking down at where were feet were, she noticed that, run down as the carpet was, it left the slightest imprints of their feet, not to mention the fact that they were standing in the middle of the corridor.
She moved to the side a little where there was a small corner leading to another part of the corridor, dragging the young man with her. The light was even worse here and the carpet looked even more stained and overused, none would notice them their imprints here. "And now keep silent." she whispered while the voices came closer. "I can´t hide the sounds we make." She knew that she would be exhausted after seconds if she used stealth now. Not only that she was only learning to properly use it and that there were two of them, but also her emotions were still in an uproar and her heart was beating too fast to concentrate on anything that complex. Stealth needed focus That or panic. Focus she didn´t have right now.

::Manuel would have appreciated a warning, but at the moment, beggars could not be choosers. Though there was no pain or tingling, he felt tenser when he perceived her powers to be at work, though this was likely a psychological effect of the situation at hand: both the danger and his dependence. She did not need to tell him twice to be silent, and he nodded instead of acknowledging it with speech.::

Steven turned around the corner and run up the last few steps. The corridor in front of them were empty and he did not allow himself to calm down till he had seen that the mutant was still in the room. Without slowing down, he run down the corridor till he reached the door of their room. He had already the keycard in his hand and let it run through the slit. The door unlocked with a slight click.

Shade remained motionless as she watched the two of them walk past, one of them running ahead, making haste. They wouldn´t have much time now until they noticed Manuel´s absense which probably meant it would be best to get away from here as soon as they could. They were well hidden, yes, but there was always the risk of accidentally bumping into someone in a corridor that offered little possibility to avoid one another.
