"Well, I can't be askin' that," Gambit said, with some skepticism on his face. "If ya datin' me, means you already are on the Dark Side. I'm corruptin' your soul as we speak, basically."

Somehow managing to keep a completely straight face, Shade tried to look unempressed. "Oops." she said.

"Yeah, you're pretty screwed," Gambit agreed. He let his hand reach her hip and travel up to her waist, leaving his other arm folded under his head. It felt good to be here, with her, in the Club, like home - calm and relatively safe. He allowed himself to enjoy this moment of calmness for once.

Chuckling slightly at the ambiguity, Shade pulled a somewhat thoughtful face as if she was wondering something was worth a risk. After her earlier exhaustion, she was feeling relaxed again which also meant she enjoyed the feel of Gambit´s hand on her hip and giving in to how relaxed and at ease she felt, she returned the caress with one of her own, letting her right hand lightly run up his chest. "I guess I´ll just deal with it with a good portion of naive foolishness and say: That doesn´t bother me. At all."

"Well, that doesn' surprise me," Gambit remarked. "Makes me wonder, though, what is it that makes ya overlook all obvious minuses and dangers and stick around."

"Many things." Shade said continuing her caress. "one of those being that guys without minuses are boring. Always predictable, no challenge to be with, no fun." She didn´t comment on the ´overlook´. It wasn´t exactly overlooking for her, she very well noticed things like his secretiveness or his way around women, but overlooking equalled ignoring for her and ignoring meant pushing away awareness of something. And she was aware of those things.

"So how many minuses would Shade be willin' to tolerate?" Gambit wondered. "I'm four parts negative, one part positive."

He was more critical towards himself than she was, he always had been. It partly resulted from the fact that of course Gambit knew more about himself than she did, but that didn´t trouble her. She had gotten glimpses now and then that he tended to be guilt tripping and this was one of the reasons why she thought he had a good heart - despite the edges he liked to point out.
"I was never good at math." she said with the hint of a shrug. She wouldn´t reply to that answer with any sort of numbers or statistics because that wasn´t relevant for her. Positive and negative sides could not be counted like that. "so I don´t much care about numbers."
((*fights strong urge to expand the mathematic word field and toss in the word "count"))

"You're avoidin' the answer," Gambit noted. "But allow me t' rephrase it for your sexually worn out female mind - how much worse can I get before ya decide enough is enough?"

That made it sound as if he had the impression he was getting worse with time. Shade had never seen it that way. For her, he was Gambit with all consequences that this notion implied, all the things he would probably call difficult to handle. She handled those aspects of him even though she didn´t particularly approve of all, but as she had stated before, she preferred someone with rough edges to someone with none. She had had her share of that. Shade could be stubborn if need be. She would not give away her heart like that lightly but just like that, she wouldn´t be rigid on her ideas of what was proper and what wasn´t.
"You know I don´t really think along the lines of ´worse´ there" Shade said, marking with her fingers. "but if you want an answer that picks up on that: I don´t know. I´ll just stick to intuition and to my own feel-good-o-meter."

"Bon," Gambit smirked. He'd drop the subject for now... but would undoubtedly return to it weeks or months later. He knew he was sexy and mysterious and quick-witted and what other features that women and men found attractive in him - but with a reasonable dose of self-criticism, he also knew perfectly well that he wasn't anything that classified as a healthy choice. And had always considered himself to be a good match only for some who lead a likewise unhealthy lifestyle, like his wife Bella - so what held Shade attached to him, other than love, he hadn't ever been able to fully comprehend. And he had never believed that love alone was a good enough glue.
For now, he just let it be and his hand travelled up along Shade's body, over her stomach and between her breasts to reach her chin. He took her chin gently with his fingers. "Then don' tell me I didn't warn ya."

Shade´s lips curled into a broad smile. "How could I?" she asked, leaning down to playfully snatch for his bottom lip, remembering that it had been something he had done very early already. A long time back, a long way back when he had warned her about falling in love with him. She had always trusted her feelings more than her head and thought it was the best way to get along in life - it always had been for her.
Gambit´s words told her he was trying to get to the bottom of things, to find out why she felt attracted to him like this. Well, he was pretty much her type for starters, but that - and she was aware of that - held true for a lot of women. Another was that they had been through quite some things together; the accident, the kidnapping incident back in Tunisia, the flight from his apartment recently, and even though these things had a negative connotation in themselves, they had told her a lot about him. She found herself in parts of how he thought, for one thing, when she had told him about Jimmy´s death, she had gotten the feeling that he could truly relate. She felt guilty about this, he knew the feeling. She had never wanted to end in a boring life, he definitely added spice to it. And above all that, and that was a trait he had always valued highly in him, he treated her just like she wanted to be treated. Not concerning long absences and fooling around with others, but concerning his general attitude to her. He gave her the feeling to be desirable and protected, but on the other hand had never once treated her like some frail woman. It was a mix of ideas and feelings for her that explained things, probably clearer to herself than to him or else he wouldn´t be asking things like that.

Gambit said nothing to that, but kissed her while her lips were still so close to him. Thinking for a second, he also freed his hand from under his head and wrapped both arms around Shade's back. (( I now feel really guilty about leaving this tiny post as a response to yours ))

When Shade responded to his kiss this time, it was a far more gentle response; affectionate and telling of how cozy and relaxed and at easy she felt, quite a contrast to her almost agressive need from earlier. One of her hands sneaked into his hair, the other lay losely on his chest while still straddling him, her smaller form more or less curled up on his stomach. ((Aw, don´t ;D It was one of those posts that started with a wee thouht and got longer and longer. That chick has such an effing complex mind ))

(( I got it now. You mentioned stomach and the ad used it for the stomach-themed ads. There's gotta be a way around this... ))
One of Gambit's hand slid further up Shade's back and into her hair, gripping it hard enough in a probably somewhat painful way, while he still kept kissing her, holding her with the other arm.
