The building she was running into turned out to be some sort of warehouse and Shade caught herself trying to find things that somehow could serve as a weapon - improvised or real - while she ran on, her breath quicker now. The hall was rather big and she ran through it, knowing her powers were not really helpful as the robot could not only detect her but as she was also making quite a noise running across the floor.
A blast some way off told her she had not shaken off her follower. There was a gate next to the door she had passed through and another blast of the Sentinel broke it down, sending the robot follow her across the hall as Shade noticed, tossing a hurried glance back. She spotted some sort of ladder at the far end of the hall, praying it led up to some sort of roof. The ladder led higher than the sentinel was tall. if she was quick, she might reach roof, if there was no roof, she would be running into a trap. But her sides were aching already, she knew she had to risk it as she would not be able to run for much longer.

As the Sentinel was aiming for another shot, Gambit got up to his feet and sent a few cards into the Sentinel's face. He wasn't aiming to bring it down - couldn't hope to do it with three cards, but while the robot was re-adjusting its balance and condition of optic sensors, Gambit ran back along the same hallway and jumped off the ruined floor onto the Sentinel's head. He chose one of the larger protruding details in it, charged it and jumped off again, holding his bo staff ahead of him as he was aiming for a balcony ahead.
The explosion pressed him right into the balcony; the bo staff squeaked but held, allowing Gambit to land to the balcony. Remains of the Sentinel's head rained all over him, but quickly disintegrated into nothing as the Danger Room found that part of the simulation completed.
He ran down the stairs of the building, heading towards Shade.

With flying fingers, Shade grabbed for the ladder, the adrenaline rush allowing her to climb more quickly than she usually would have been able to do. She had to force herself not to look back. She could hear the robot approach but the hall was large and she forced herself to concentrate on climbing alone. Like this she had a slight chance; if she lost her focus, tripped and fell, there would be no way to run nor would there be time to do so.
The Sentinel was close already, she could feel it from the way its steps made the earth shake. When Shade was about 2 metres below the end of the ladder, still not able to see where it led, another blast came, hitting the wall next to the ladder, missing her by inches. She suppressed a yelp and for a moment almost lost her balance as part of the metal ladder was ripped out of the wall by the explosion. Clambering on, she reached the end just in time, feeling hugely relieved to see that it had indeed led her to a flat roof. She started running across the roof, not yet sure where to turn.

The noise of crushing walls lead Gambit directly to the second Sentinel. It was rather far, and he had to run quickly, not knowing what situation Shade was in. Had it been X-Men training session, they would have transmitting sets to keep contact, but now they didn't have any, so he could only guess where she was and how much time she had.

Shade sped across the roof, trying not to slip which held her up. The roof had to be about double as high as the robot, but she was sure by now that the machine could detect her at least vaguely. She had kept her powers up all the time, staying invisible all the way as she had tiny hopes that this would make it at least a little harder for the Sentinel to follow her, but now she could hear him again. Seemingly he followed her a storey below, through the hall on whose roof Shade now was.
Another explosion came, hammering through the room just a metre away from where Shade was at just the spot where she had been a second ago. She stumbled and fell, then struggled to get back to her feet. This was getting really close now.

Finally Gambit reached the building where the Sentinel was making itself at home. So that was where Shade was hiding. Unless she was somewhere on the ground floor, she had run herself into a trap. He made a mouthpiece with his hands and yelled, "Shaaade!"

By now she knew there was no escape. Shade ran across the roof in the oposit direction now, trying to outrun the Sentinel knowing this was near impossible here. She swore inwardly, feeling anger against herself rise in her stomach. She had thought there might be a possibility to get onto another roof with a jump, but she had by now found out that this was impossible as the other buildings were too far apart. What she was doing now was running in a zig zag, trying to be a difficult aim for the robot and at the same time scanning the rims of the roof for a ladder down or another means of escape.
When she heard Gambit´s yell, her head jerked round. Just in time to safe your butt, Shadey, a sarcastic inner voice nagged her. "I´m up here!" she yelled back, not sure whether the Sentinel could understand human speech. It had a rough idea of where she was anyways. Running on she finally found what she was looking for. A rusty ladder leading down. But she was almost sure she could not climb it down as fast as she had to to escape.

"Get down!" Gambit yelled, "I'll cover ya," and without waiting for her answer, he ran into the warehouse, looking for the Sentinel that had crushed its way into the building.

Luckily, she already was near the outside ladder which led down the wall back to the street. From where she thought she located Gambit´s voice she guessed he was either near or already inside the warehouse which meant he would try to distract the Sentinel.
Hurrying the last steps towards the ladder Shade climbed it down quickly, her heart pounding as she was not sure where the robot was now and whether its attention was still focussed on her. Great job Shade, just try not to make yourself an easy prey when this is serious, she thought to herself.

Gambit tried to stun the Sentinel with multiple explosions, which in robotic terms would mean disrupt the work of its optic and sound sensors, to create lots of interference, Gambit wasn't hoping for much, especially after the Sentinel started shooting back.
Turning around, Gambit ran out of the building and grabbed Shade by the elbow. "Go, go, go," he said, dragging her along.

Shade fought down her own fury with herself, concentrating on running as fast as she could, putting the extra adrenaline her anger gave her into quickening her steps. "D*mn" she swore under her breath.

"Let's go ruin some subway," Gambit said, pulling Shade aside. They ran down into the subway entrance. He knew that would most probably lead to the ceiling collapsing over them, but since their attempt to complete the session on the ground hadn't proven quite successful, he thought that it would be a good opportunity for them both to try different surroundings.

Shade had a vague idea about what he was up to. If they managed to stay a bit ahead of the robot and if the robot would follow them down, Gambit might have a chance to charge and throw something at him and make the ceiling come down onto the Sentinel. She nodded and kept running as fast as she could, her sides starting to ache. D*mn it Shade, she told herself, don´t you dare get weak now. Just run. Somehow she managed to keep up her speed, even enhance it a little, using her remaining efforts, agitated by her for now shoved back anger about herself.

They ran into the subway; it was unusually empty for the programmed time of day, and Gambit knew that in a real life situation they would be well-protected by crowds of humans whom the Sentinels would not attack.
Gambit finally let go of Shade. "Here's your playground," he said. "No trains. All doors are open. Start orientin' yaself here, we still got a few moments."
'Moments' was the right word, as the ground above them was already humming with vibrations of the heavy robot over their heads. Gambit got more of his cards ready: the Sentinel was in for LOTS of explosions.

Shade started following his advice at once, doing a quick jog around, checking briefly where the doors led to. She soon found the exit which wasn´t too far off and easy to reach. The ground was shaking again now, sending her adrenaline and heartbeat up once more. Determinently, she continued getting an image of the place, focussed on her sorroundings, intent not to being an easy target once more. After a moment she had found two possible ways to escape. They would have to react quickly, but it might work.
