::It was five minutes until seven and the Professor waited by the elevator for Typhoid. He had left a note for her that morning after thinking hard about her recent development with her powers. The only way she would gain control would be to experiment and he wanted to start the process. She would, hopefully, be there in five minutes to train in the Danger Room.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 15, 2007, 10:36pm
Five minutes later Typhoid rounded the corner and stopped at the elevator. "Got the note. What's the deal?"
Posted by The Man on Mar 15, 2007, 10:40pm
"I want you to experiment with your powers to regain your control" ::The Professor replied, hitting the button for the elevator. When the doors opened, he wheeled inside and held the door for her.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 15, 2007, 10:42pm
"Ok..." This was...unusual to say the least. "Danger Room, I take it?"
Posted by The Man on Mar 15, 2007, 10:46pm
"Yes," ::The Professor replied with a nod. When she stepped into the elevator, the doors closed and the elevator started for the basement.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 15, 2007, 10:48pm
"I'm not up on how the Room works, but...if I try to use my power won't I just destory the equipment?" she asked.
Posted by The Man on Mar 15, 2007, 10:50pm
"The technology of the room is safeguarded," ::The Professor replied. He had considered this and ran several simulations. But everything would be fine. They woudl remain self-contained.:: "You won't do damage to the room itself. And everything inside the room is fair game."
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 15, 2007, 10:53pm
"That's...good." All this almost made her uncomfortable. She hadn't tried to use her power in any major way since Mary had been supressed. She was almost scared to. She waited quietly for the elevator to stop.
Posted by The Man on Mar 15, 2007, 10:55pm
::The elevator stopped at the basement and he swiped his fingerprint to make it go down the extra level. When the doors opened, he waited for her to exit first. He understood her reluctance to use her abilities. Ever since his death, he had cut back on the use of his own powers. However, for her own survival, it was necessary for her to learn.:: "You'll be fine."
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 15, 2007, 10:58pm
She stepped out of the elevator and her brow furrowed. "Eavesdropping again." She made it a statement.
Posted by The Man on Mar 15, 2007, 10:58pm
"No," ::The Professor replied, wheeling out behind her. They began the trip down the long corridor for the Danger Room.:: "Recognition of a kindred spirit."
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 15, 2007, 11:01pm
She laughed, entirely amused at the idea. "Come again?"
Posted by The Man on Mar 15, 2007, 11:02pm
"I understand reluctance," ::The Professor replied, his voice quiet.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 15, 2007, 11:04pm
The laughter stopped. She shook her head ruefully. "It's that obvious?"
Posted by The Man on Mar 15, 2007, 11:07pm
"To me," ::The Professor replied. But he had been watching her closely. They stopped outside the Danger Room.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 15, 2007, 11:10pm
"Now what?" She was totally lost down here.
Posted by The Man on Mar 15, 2007, 11:11pm
::The doors to the Danger Room opened, leading to a large chamber divided into a grid system. The Professor gestured for her to enter first.:: "Now we choose a scenario and you work with it."
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 15, 2007, 11:14pm
She walked in, looking around and counting the squares on the grid like someone with OCD, something she'd done since she was a kid. Something dawned on her. "It's all holograms." She'd expected something more tactile.
Posted by The Man on Mar 15, 2007, 11:16pm
"Of course," ::The Professor replied. After Scott and Storm had destroyed the first Danger Room with two misplaced explosions, he had set about trying something more adaptable. The technology was readily available if you had the means.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 15, 2007, 11:18pm
"How's it work?" She couldn't help it, she was curious.
Posted by The Man on Mar 15, 2007, 11:22pm
"We enter in a scenario and the holograms create it. You'll be able to touch them, see them, hear them, use your powers on them,"
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 16, 2007, 11:03am
"But not sense them." Ty shook her head. "They're holograms. No heartbeat, no life." She frowned. "This is gonna be really wierd."
Posted by The Man on Mar 16, 2007, 5:57pm
"No," ::The Professor replied apologetically. He hadn't yet been able to make a hologram with a heartbeat.:: "But it gets more realistic every time. And yes, it will be strange at first, but you'll adapt."
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 16, 2007, 9:39pm
"I guess so. What kind of scenario?" This WAS his idea. "I don't know what you want me to try to do."
Posted by The Man on Mar 16, 2007, 9:41pm
"I want you to get more comforrable using your powers, so to that extent, probably a battle scenario," ::The Professor replied. That had been one of his goals.:: "However, I'd also like to see if we can undo your aura."
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 16, 2007, 9:45pm
She shrugged. "I'm ready if you are."
Posted by The Man on Mar 16, 2007, 10:01pm
"I am," ::The Professor replied. He wheeled over to the computer and began entering a scenario for her. He knew of her dislike of Magnus and he thought that if shehad reason to let loose, they could both see the full extent of her powers. As such, he ran the Liberty Island scenario.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 16, 2007, 10:06pm
She stopped for a minute as the scenario began. "Rogue told me about this."
Posted by The Man on Mar 16, 2007, 10:10pm
"I thought it a fair beginning," ::The Professor replied. Although it wasn't surprising that the incident would be on Rogue's mind, considering her relationship with Magnus, Xavier had thought she would keep it quiet. Few people would understand turning to him after he had attempted to kill her.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 16, 2007, 10:40pm
She stared upwards, hearing the rings of the machine mounted on the torch twirling. She knew the story. "Uh uh, don't think so, buster."
Posted by The Man on Mar 16, 2007, 10:43pm
::Xavier wheeled towards the viewiing area of the Danger Room, where he would be away from the action. He didn't want to interfere, particularly considering the nature of her powers.::
::Inside the Danger Room, Magneto stood atop the statue of Liberty, within the machine he had built. He had not yet touched Rogue to transfer his powers, and it appeared he would be delayed. One of Charles' foolish students thought she could stop him. He smiled down at her.:: "You'll thank me when this is over, my dear."
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 16, 2007, 10:46pm
"Yeah, right." Never one for words, she turned herself to ash, reforming to stand between Magneto and his machine. Using that particular aspect of her power still knocked her equilibrium off. "You'll kill everyone. I'm not here to let you."
Posted by The Man on Mar 16, 2007, 10:51pm
"The humans will kill us all," ::Magneto replied, He used the magnetic field around the machine to lift her up above him, forcing her to keep her distance.:: "But if they, too, become mutants, then they'll have no reason to hurt us."
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 16, 2007, 10:58pm
Normally, being lifted up into the air would have scared the living daylights out of her. Now it just pissed her off. And she didn't feel like debating. She began to generate her own waves of energy, directed towards both the machine and Magneto. It was difficult to try to spare Rogue the effects, but Magneto's skin was flaking off him just the same, and the machine was shedding dust as it spun. She said some oddly familiar words, "Funny little man..."
Posted by The Man on Mar 16, 2007, 11:02pm
::The pain of his disolving skin enraged Magneto and he growled his words.:: "I wanted to spare you. But Charles has corrupted you." ::With that, he moved her further from the Statue, so that she was directly over the water. Then he released the magnetic field.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 16, 2007, 11:14pm
That was it. She was holding back and it was apparently time to stop. The force of the energy she released stopped her in midair, turning the water several feet beneath her to steam. The sides of the Statue began to shed dust as the energy brushed them. Her eyes darkened perceptibly, and when she finally rose to the height of the rings she was glowing. She heard whispers in the back of her head, all the others talking, Mary muttering Little fool, let me out... "ENOUGH!" The rings lost their structure completely with the outburst, turning to ash.
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 9:33pm
::Magneto's eyes widened, seeing his machine dissolve almost instantly. Perhaps he had misjudged this one. She was much more powerful than he had assumed. The destruction around him was growing and now it was a fight for his life. A ship was sailing by the Island and with a motion of his hand, he lifted it into the air, intending to hurl it at her.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 9:44pm
She heard more than saw the ship rise, spread the energy to encompass it, watched it crumble. Letting herself land on the statue, she took slow steps towards Magneto. "I could bring down this whole statue, if I wanted." She pulled off her gloves.
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 9:49pm
"Is that so?" ::Magneto replied, trying to cover the concern in his voice. Considering what he'd just seen, he didn't doubt it. He took a step backwards as she approached.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 9:55pm
Go ahead little girl...you know you like to... Ty heard Mary in the back of her mind and shook her head against it. No, she didn't...but it was just a hologram. You can force it, it'll work just as well, do it... She turned herself to ash and reformed behind Magneto, so close that he almost stepped back into her. "I can, but I won't have to." She reached up and placed her fingers on the back of his neck, forcing her power to work despite Magneto existing only as a hologram.
His skin flaked away first, not just the epidermis but all the layers underneath, exposing the musculature, which went next. For a moment his skull balanced on the edge of her fingertips before it dissolved as well. The process took only a second or two.
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 10:05pm
::From the observation area, the Professor watched with a mixture of fascination and concern. He knew it was merely a hologram; so his reaction to watching Erik dissolve was not what it otherwould would be. Instead, he was concerned for this terrible power she had, so that a single touch could bring so much damage. Slowly, the island began to dissolve, until she found herself once more in the Danger Room.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 10:13pm
Finding herself standing on the floor as the simulation shut down, she held up a finger in the general direction of the observation area. "Give me a minute." She was still broadcasting waves of energy throughout the room. It got harder to pull it back every time. It seemed like forever before she got it down to a managable level.
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 10:14pm
::The Professor caught her message and nodded. He waited patiently until she gave him the signal to come inside.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 10:19pm
She stood with her fists clenched for a moment before looking up around her. No energy, except for the aura...and a hellish headache. "Ok, it's alright now."
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 10:22pm
::The Professor waited until she gave the signal; then he wheeled into the Danger Room. Her headache was intense enough that he could feel the edges of it, with his shields raised. He wheeled closer to her.:: "That was...incredibhle."
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 10:31pm
"I've heard a lot of words used when I do that, incredible is not usually one of them." She shut her eyes, still trying to calm down.
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 10:32pm
::No, Xavier could understand that. He kept his distance, sensing that she was still trying to calm herself.:: "It was, regardless."
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 10:34pm
She gave a slight smile. "Whatever description suits you..." It was a minute before she said anything else. "Sorry...there's several voices in my head that still consider you a threat," she muttered, taking a deep breath. "Hence my dislike for telepathy."
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 10:39pm
"It's all right; I understand," ::Xavier replied. He did understand. Most people had a dislike for telepathy and she was one of the few with a valid reason apart from fearing unethical invasion of privacy.:: "I have no intention of entering your mind."
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 10:42pm
"Wasn't worried, just explaining." That was new; she hadn't been worried. Then again...he'd already seen the worst of it. She shrugged, finally calming down and ignoring the voices. "Ok...I'm alright."
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 10:43pm
"Are you sure?" ::The Professor asked, concerned. It had been a most impressive display of powers and he didn't want her to over-exert herself.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 10:45pm
"I'm fine." Even the headache was fading at this point. "I shouldn't be, but...that seems to be the running theme these days."
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 10:49pm
"How much faster is your recover period now, as opposed to before?" ::The Professor asked, concerned.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 10:55pm
"Minutes, sometimes less." She thought for a minute. "When I did...what I did...at the lake when I first got here, it took me almost two days to build up any sort of power again." She paused. "I could do what I just did all over again without a problem, now."
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 10:57pm
::Xavier nodded, the concern growing inside him. She was reminding him too much of Jean and the Phoenix. The exact same scenario had occurred before...He pushed the thought to the corner of his mind. He would remain vigilant, but wouldn't project that scenario onto her.:: "But you still can't dismantle your aura?"
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 11:05pm
She shook her head. "It's like finding a void in my head," she tried to explain. "When I try to do what I used to do to shut it down...I don't know how."
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 11:06pm
::The Professor nodded his head in acknowledgement. He understood that feeling, although he'd never experienced it directly.:: "Perhaps like riding a bicycle, you'll recover the knowledge."
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 11:11pm
"Maybe. I've been thinking about talking to Nimrod."
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 11:13pm
::That was one solution. Although if she didn't like having her mind touched, the Professor had difficullty understanding a trust in technology.:: "For a mental probe?"
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 11:15pm
Her eyes widened. "Hell no. But he can read my power, and since he helped me at the lake I think he might be able to counteract my power now. I was hoping he might be able to come up with something I could wear that would do the same thing."
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 11:19pm
::That was a more logical solution and Xavier nodded.:: "That makes sense. Considering his technological prowess, I'm sure he could develop something."
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 11:24pm
"I hope so. This is...becoming more then a small problem. I can't even shake anyone's hand." She remembered having to awkwardly move around Ethan an hour or so before.
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 11:28pm
"I can imagine," ::The Professor replied sympathetically.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 11:35pm
She shook her head. "No, you can't." She'd taken to vacating the mansion completely whenever possible, but being alone with her own thoughts and those of several others in her own head didn't help, either.
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 11:37pm
::As a telepath, he had a very vivid imagination. He was sure he could imagine it, although he had never experienced it. But there was no purpose arguing such a point; he had no desire to be contrary.:: "Speak with Nimrod then; see what he can do to help."
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 11:39pm
"I will. Was there anything else you wanted me to try?" She felt like she could have gone on using her power forever, if she wanted, but the point here was NOT to go nuts.
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 11:41pm
"I'd wanted to see the extent of your powers and your recovery time," ::The Professor replied. SInce they had already discussed the issue of her aura.:: "That was my only agenda for today."
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 11:44pm
"Alright. Back up then?"
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 11:45pm
"Unless you'd like to stay," ::The Professor replied.::
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 11:49pm
She shook her head. "Not the brightest idea. I'd bring down half the mansion if I stayed to use my power again."
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 11:50pm
::Xavier was impressed with the responsibility she exercised, and he nodded.:: "Then back up we go."
Posted by Typhoid Mary on Mar 17, 2007, 11:53pm
She followed him back upstairs, intending to pay a visit to Alkali Lake once they got back.
Posted by The Man on Mar 17, 2007, 11:54pm
::They entered the elevator and the Professor pressed the button for the ground floor. The elevator made its way up the chute and soon enough they found themselves in the main corridor of the mansion.::
::It was five minutes until seven and the Professor waited by the elevator for Typhoid. He had left a note for her that morning after thinking hard about her recent development with her powers. "Is that so?" ::Magneto replied, trying to cover the concern in his voice. Considering what he'd just seen, he didn't doubt it. He took a step backwards as she approached.::
