Other Abilities

Family: unnamed Mother (deceased), unnamed Father (deceased), unnamed Uncle (deceased), unnamed unborn child.
Actress: Rebecca Romijn
Personality and Background: Due to her profession, Mystique has the reputation of a loner, and possessing a strong will. In her personal life, she has her streak of emotional dependence, and isn't really as cold as she portrays in the professional world. She is extremely energetic and spirited, and is very loyal to those she respects and cares about. She also detests telephones, because lines can be intercepted by the wrong people, and prefers to see people in the flesh rather than use a phone.
Her mutation developed in her early teens, after a bad sunburn peeled away to reveal blue, scaly skin. The yellow eyes and red hair developed not too long after, and her parents treated her as if she was a leper. They eventually tried to poison her, but it only made her violently sick, and, after a trip to the emergency room, her father took a baseball bat to her in anger while her mother and uncle watched. Finally snapping, she killed them all with her own two hands. While running out of town, she encountered and was raped by a gang of her classmates. This left her with a hatred for humanity, but didn't truly flare until she met Magneto.
In her early twenties she had figured out enough to disguise herself for short periods of time, and began taking classes in college for a higher education. After awhile her control slipped, and she was almost killed, had Magneto not been there to save her. She has devoted her life to working for him and his Cause since. He taught her to use her gifts to punish humans for what they did to her, and helped her push her talents to the limit. After a while, the two entered a serious relationship that lasted for years, and at one time, the two had planned on children. She followed him faithfully, and became his right-hand woman in the Brotherhood, helping out with his most recent schemes in mutant supremacy, including the incident at Liberty Island and Alkali Lake. At Liberty Island, she fought the Wolverine, and lost when he stabbed her in the abdomen with his adamantium claws. She recovered fully, but will always carry the scars. She is also solely responsible for breaking Erik out of jail after Liberty Island.
Constantly on the run with Magneto, Mystique was often used to encounters with the police or the X-Men, but it wasn't until she was captured by the federal government did she undergo a huge change. While breaking Mystique out of imprisonment, Magneto was targeted with a Cure dart, but Mystique stepped in front of him, taking the dart instead, which turned her human. Having no use for a human, Magneto abandoned her.
The time that she spent as a human, before she regained her powers had an extreme effect on her views towards what makes a person useful or not, and what defines a person. She came to realize that she was not a lesser being for being human, and that she was herself. So when she regained her powers back, and eventually rejoined Magneto, a part of her knew she couldn't fight for something she didn't fully believe in anymore, for someone who just saw her as useful to his own ends. Now she is left confused about her purpose in life and refusing to return to Magneto's bed, but still following him, albeit reluctantly. This might be subject to change soon.
