Mystique walked into the club, looking for Gambit. It was the afternoon, so it was empty. Things had been different since her last visit, very different. Especially for the fact that she wore clothes now, albeit a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, but still. "Gambit?" She called, looking around for him.

Gambit was checking the VIP lounges on the second floor. He heard someone calling him and walked outside to the gallery.
He leaned against the fancy railing that ran along the gallery.
"'lo Mystique," he replied.

She looked up, seeing him up along the gallery railing. "Can I speak with you for a moment?" She asked.
Posted by Gambit on Mar 26, 2007, 22:48
"Be right down," Gambit said.
And he was - faster than she could notice. He was no teleporter, but his acute trained reflexes gave him an often-needed advantage of moving fast.
"Tell me what is it I can do for ya, chere, an' I'll bring de world to your feet," he flashed a smile.
Posted by Mystique on Mar 26, 2007, 23:25
She jumped slightly, not expecting him to be down so fast. And his flirtatious statement flattered her, but was unnecessary. "Thank you, but I wouldn't want to deal with the world's problems," she said matter of factly. "I just wanted to talk regarding the question of my job here. I'd like to retract my offer to work for you."

"That much I've guessed already," Remy replied. "But.... I don't suppose you've come all de way down to Manhattan to tell me dat one thing, chere, have you?"
Posted by Mystique on Mar 26, 2007, 23:32
"Well, not exactly," she admitted. "The only reason I offered to work for you was due to persuasion on Erik's part, and I'm not too happy with him at the moment. I wanted to warn you, because if I'm not working here for the Brotherhood, he'll get someone else to. A mutant hangout is great for recruitment, it seems," she said wryly.
Posted by Gambit on Mar 26, 2007, 23:37
"So it is," Remy sighed, "and since de info about it has leaked onto the streets a long time ago already, it's gradually becomin' an attraction site for all kinds of government gofers and plain mortal perverts who... well, never mind dat."
Posted by Mystique on Mar 27, 2007, 0:06
"I'm sorry to hear that," she admitted. "It won't be anything you can't handle, though," she said, smiling.
Posted by Gambit on Mar 27, 2007, 11:18
"You got dat right," Gambit replied. "Dat's why I dared take up dis kind of business in de first place. It has its risks, but dat's de beauty of it."
Posted by Mystique on Mar 27, 2007, 20:13
"I'm glad you see it that way," she said honestly. "And I'm sorry that I couldn't give working here a shot, I'm sure it would've been fun," she said, winking at him.
Posted by Gambit on Mar 27, 2007, 20:19
"Don't be sorry, chere," Remy waved it off. "Ya know, it can be fun regardless of whether you work here or not, non?"
Posted by Mystique on Mar 28, 2007, 7:26
She shrugged "I guess so. Well, it was nice to see you," she said, giving him a polite smile.
Posted by Gambit on Mar 28, 2007, 19:14
"Drop by every now and then," Remy replied. "I'll be glad to see ya anytime."
Posted by Mystique on Mar 28, 2007, 19:38
"I don't think I will, but I'll keep that in mind," she said, her smile widening.
Posted by Gambit on Mar 28, 2007, 19:45
Ah, chere, never say 'never again'," Gambit said, walking her to the door.
(( OOC: I assume he's walking her to the door since she made it clear she was about to leave... but she can always change her mind! (I'd be only happy if she did, lol) ))
Posted by Mystique on Mar 30, 2007, 2:55
"Well, I'm staying at the Institute for awhile, so if you feel like dropping by, I'd be happy to see you," she said, turning from the door to face him.
Posted by Gambit on Mar 30, 2007, 3:29
Gambit's jaw was tempted to drop. He managed his surprise quickly, though.
"You staying at the Institute?" he asked. "Posing as who?"
Posted by Mystique on Mar 30, 2007, 13:33
"Myself," she said patiently. "I'm helping them with the Project Wideawake problem, as Erik didn't want to get involved, and I do."
Posted by Gambit on Mar 31, 2007, 11:29
"I guess you can be convincin' when you want to," Remy remarked. "What's this Project Wideawake thing, if I may ask?"
He knew exactly what it was, but had to play along as if he didn't.
Posted by Mystique on Mar 31, 2007, 22:05
"Why do you say that I'd be convincing?" She asked, somewhat confused. "And please, if you didn't know anything about Wideawake you wouldn't be Remy LeBeau."
Posted by Gambit on Mar 31, 2007, 22:21
Remy cocked a brow at her knowing his real name but then remembered it had been her who had cracked Stryker's database. Oh well - his reputation seemed to run ahead of him (which wasn't bad at all), and he had to admit to himself that he and she were equal in their talents of hacking and finding out secret information.
"Well, Mystique must be very convincin' to earn herself a place at de Institute," Remy said, "pardon me 'f I'm too frank about it, but you know de alignment of forces as well as I do."
Posted by Mystique on Mar 31, 2007, 22:34
"Actually, I don't," she said seriously. "Not anymore, anyways." And it was true. Who was on who's side wasn't so easy to distinguish anymore. Not that it mattered, though. She'd exiled herself from one side, only to be treated with distrust by the other, for the most part. For the most part, she reminded herself.
"And I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. Not anymore." She was going to be the way she was, letting everyone see for themselves that her intentions were true.
Posted by Gambit on Mar 31, 2007, 22:46
"Heh," for a second Gambit felt lost, "guess you should've just told me there's lots that've changed which I don't know of, but I pretty much guessed it already."
Posted by Mystique on Mar 31, 2007, 22:51
"And what exactly have you guessed so far?" She asked, curious.
Posted by Gambit on Mar 31, 2007, 23:06
"Like I said," Remy shrugged. "It seems dat I've missed some major changes about de Institute. An' unless somebody fills me in, my guesses will remain guesses."
Posted by Mystique on Mar 31, 2007, 23:14
"Would you like me to be the one to fill you in?" She asked, raising an eyebrow. "I don't think you'll get much information otherwise, except for the few students who might mention something off-hand."
Posted by Gambit on Mar 31, 2007, 23:21
"Oh, I'd love dat," Remy accepted, preferring not to mention that, for the Cajun thief, there were always other ways of getting info. "Course, if you're not in a hurry - have a seat, I'll get you somethin' to drink."
Posted by Mystique on Mar 31, 2007, 23:22
"No, I'm not in any hurry," she said, walking over to the bar with him. "And something without alcohol, please."
Posted by Gambit on Apr 1, 2007, 0:16
(( OOC: I should've asked that earlier, but does this conversation take place before or after Rogue already told Remy Mystique was pregnant with Xavier's child? ))
"Right," he said. In a moment, a glass of pineapple juice with a cantle of orange as a decoration stood in front of Mystique.
Mystique walked into the club, looking for Gambit. It was the afternoon, so it was empty. Things had been different since her last visit, very different. Especially for the fact that she wore clothes now, albeit a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, but still. "Gambit?" She called, looking around for him.
