Gambit let her have her bout of fun, just driving on. Then, deciding he'd had enough, he changed the radio station from pop to rock.

They arrived at the scrap yard Gambit had mentioned a few minutes later. Without knowing much about the city, Shade could still tell it had to be somwehere on the outskirts, lines of skyscrapers visible in the background. The scrapyard itself was a away from everything, set in an area that was closest maybe to a ru down neighbourhood where no one really seemed to bother and hardly anyone lived. It was the kind of place where one could cause a lot of noise with noone giving a damn.

It was the same scrapyard at which Gambit and Pietro had vented some steam some years ago. Gambit visited this place often for the same reason. It was a place where he could crash, explode and ruin things, and it was also spacious and isolated from passers-by.
He grabbed the stuff they'd bought, along with some of his own that he had with him, and they walked through the labyrinth of scrap hills, further away from the road.

Shade followed him outside, having a look around. The place was indeed deserted as it seemed. All the better. "So, what will be be doing?" she asked, "you gonna show me stuff right away or are you up for some warm up first?"

"Nah," Gambit said, placing the bags and boxes on the ground. "Pick anythin' an' let's start practicin'." He took his bo staff and extended it, holding it vertically next to him for now.

Shade had a look around, turning in a circle once as if to assess the area. There were a whole lot of things around, all of them broken, rusty, trash. Everything from old machines down to kitchen appliances and the one or other car, stacked and heaped up around them, forming a clutter of stuff. In between that, smaller things, again, everything from broken sewing machines and wheels down to cans, and all kinds of metal pieces.
Shade´s eyes stopped when she spotted a car. It was old, it was rusty, the windows broken, the colour indistinguishable under layrs and layers of rust. It stood a but away and a llittle higher, bucked up against a few other things as if some big kind of crane had just dropped it on top of everything. She looked around the loor and picked up a fe things. Two bottles, a canm some kind of metal container. She tucked it all under her arm and clambered up towards the car before placing it neatly on the hood. So what first...she wondered. Time to see if she could still shoot a slingshot. That, too, was about as long back as her last visit to a scrapyard.

Gambit watched how she prepared the targets for herself. Not much use of those with a stun gun, so he guessed she was probably going to try out the slingshot first.

Shade made her way down the scrap pile again, already half scanning the ground with her eyes before reaching it and starting to collect stones. She didn´t know and hadn´t checked whether the slingshot came with any sort of projectiles, so she instinctively went for stones, pocketed half a dozen that seemed an approproate size and walked over to the box to get the weapon.
There was something about this that made her feel nearly giddy. Sure, this was about teaching her how to defend herself, sure this was a serious thing, but...this was just too much fun in a way. She took one of the stones and fired it into a random direction first, to get a feel of it, then faced the line of things on the old car´s hood, aimed at one ot the bottles, and shot. It was a distance of about ten metres. The stone hit the right direction but hit a little low, smashing the glass of the front right front light.

Gambit spoke from where he stood, "Ya know I ain't gonna teach you this?" he reminded. "Do what ya feel like. I just want ya to remember dat we're trainin' you for self-defense, so pretend ya need dis thing to defend yourself. Distract a police dog, break a surveillance camera, dat sort of thing."

"That´s what I´m doing," Shade said, loading the slingshot with another stone and taking aim. "I´m just getting warmed up and boosting my ego a bit before we get to the things I so far am probably not good at." She let go of the sling and this time the stone hit the can, knocking it over with a loud clatter. Mere luck, because she had aimed for the bottle.

Out of nothing to do, Gambit picked up a random chunk of scrap and flung it to a large distance, exploding it. It's been a while since he'd been here or done any major explosive stuff.

Shade gave a laugh at that, somehow in an exhilerating mood. Shooting at scrap and exploding stuff was nothing she would have expected to be doing with him, but it was fun. She shot another stone, this time adding an additional crack to the already damaged windshield of the car. "What´s the biggest thing you can explode?" she asked, grinning as she sent another stone flying.

"I don't know," Gambit said. "An airplane? A ship? Never tried t' test."

Shade looked at him. "How about a car?" she asked, nodding towards the old thin that she had used as a shooting ramp for her slingshot. There was clearly a dare in her eyes, just as much as her body language clearly showed ´show me stuff, I wanna fight, run and climb´

"It'll blow up half de scrapyard," Gambit said, rotating his bo staff in his hand. "I'll probably get injured an' de explosion will be seen for miles around."
