::As a rule, Odin preferred having complete control of his faculties and thus tried to sleep to what extent necessary and steered clear of drugs completely. He also tried to moderate his alcohol intake due to his low tolerance: while he visited bars frequently, he kept his system flushed and limited the number of drinks he had during any one session.
However, the bartender at the new club he had tried out had different opinions about the contents of drinks, because what he'd given Odin was far too strong yet the taste hadn't tipped him off.
It was now late evening and he was intoxicated for the first time in at least a year. Unintentionally. It was warm for winter and the sky was clear, and the drunk mutant had been wandering around the Village for a while, simply exploring and enjoying himself far too much while doing nothing in particular.::

Genesis wasn't in this part of town for no reason. She'd picked up a job as a bike courier a month ago, and now as a result made enough money to keep her fed. She still lived at hostels, because affording an apartment alone was way out of her range, but she didn't care. She was off the street, had food, and wasn't in the cold for the winter, and she could walk into places and walk out mostly without people pitching a fit at her looks, because she was going to be leaving in five minutes anyways. It was better then she'd had it in awhile.
It amazed her how late lawyers tended to work; she was on her way back from delivering a stack of papers to some office nearby and was headed back to the hostel. As it was, she didn't see a drunk guy in front of her until the last second. She turned her bike wheel hard to miss him, crashed, and got up almost instantly, pissed. "What the hell, dude?!"

::Odin squinted at her and had the decency to look apologetic. She seemed familiar but only in that vague way which required analysis, and he hadn't quite the capability.:: "Apologies."

It had been a few months, and Genesis wasn't possessed with the powers of instant recall, but the guy looked familiar, except for a different haircut. She didn't place him right away, though. She picked up her bike. "If my bike's broke, you're paying for it."

"Your bike probably weighs more than me," ::Odin told her, trying to muster a serious expression because of the threat.:: "I'm just skin and bones. Couldn't have broken it."

Oh, God. He was seriously drunk. She rolled her eyes, examined her bike for damage and found only some scratched paint, fortunately. Because it wasn't like she had the money for another one. She'd gotten this one on a wing and a prayer anyways. "You need me to call you a cab?"

"No." ::Odin shook his head, firm in that decision. He didn't carry much cash on him except when out on assignment, and he knew he didn't have cab fare.:: "I have a Metro card."

"Yeah, and you'll get robbed or arrested," she said, but it wasn't with any great deal of concern, at least for the arrested part. She stood her bike back up from where it had fallen, checked herself for scrapes. She had a hole in the elbow of her shirt, which didn't make her day any better, but it had been a slow speed fall, and so she wasn't hurt badly.

"I've been mugged before," ::Odin interjected, shaking his head and trying to clear it for the sake of the conversation. It was futile.:: "Punched me in the kidneys the last time."

"Yeah, sounds like you REALLY want to repeat that," she replied sarcastically. Now she recognized him fully; the person she usually defined in her head as 'the creep from the park.'
She sighed. Her foster mother had taught her to be nice to people; Genesis usually took that provisionally. Being drunk, he probably deserved to get his ass thrown in jail, but no one really deserved getting mugged, so... "OK, how far is your apartment from here?"

"I'm an easy target." ::Odin was aware of that, which was why he tried to stay out of trouble and yet it found him regardless. At her question, he paused, glancing up at the nearest street sign and then calculating.:: "A stop and a half."

"OK, so...either I take you home, or we find somewhere else to drop you, or I call the cops. Choose one." He was drunk, but a lucid drunk, surprisingly.

"I can't deal with cops." ::Odin could talk himself out of most situations when sober, but he realized that his functioning was impaired. He also had a vague sense of what would happen if he was pulled into an interrogation room, and flashbacks would cause severe problems. Severe problems he couldn't estimate at the time.
He also had nowhere else to go, with so few friends. There was work, but that was on the other side of the City. So it was home. But he realized something she said and protested,:: "You don't have to take me anywhere; I know where I live."

She looked at him as an exasperated adult looking at an infant. "We DID just have the conversation about the whole being mugged thing while drunk on public transpo, right?"

"I'm not your responsibility." ::Odin, for once in his life, wasn't being argumentative. He was trying to let her know that she shouldn't worry about him, since they were near strangers.:: "You should be able to do whatever you'd planned to do tonight."
