::The Professor was inclined to agree. The Institute was the place best suited to finding a cause and a solution, and she was least likely to face recrimination here.:: "It is."

She smiled slightly, tiredly. "And now I'm keeping us both from sleeping."

"I cannot speak for you," ::The Professor told her, and reached out to take her empty mug.:: "But tonight is an all-nighter for me."

"I'm sorry to add to it," she said, softly. It wasn't something she admitted frequently, but she often scolded herself over depending on him, or on being at the Mansion.

She didn't know what to say to that. The idea of having parents was foreign to her, and her only other blood relation that wasn't dead was a fundamentalist bigot. Parents to her were usually synonymous with the concept of getting the hell out of Dodge before sh*t hit the fan. Even after spending so much time in the Professor's company, she never knew how to respond to familial affection or help.
Instead, she stood. "It might be an all nighter for you, but I change quicker when I don't sleep. Tonight was a risk, but I couldn't stay in the dorm."

::The Professor nodded his understanding, both of the facts of her powers, as well as her inability to respond to his last statement.:: "Go sleep. We will address this during my office hours tomorrow."

"Goodnight Typhoid," ::The Professor replied simply. He did not attempt to embrace her as he might another student, not with the current difficulty and how she had shied away earlier.::

She gave him a wan smile and left the kitchen, heading to retrieve her bag and get back to the dorm.

::After she left, the Professor was thoughtful for a moment. Then he retreated to his office to finish his work, as it would be a long night.::
