Name: Marie D'Ancanto
Alias: Rogue
Height: 5' 5"
Weight: 125 Ibs.
Hair Color: Brown with white streaking
Date of Birth: July 24, 1982
Powers: Through physical contact Rogue can absorb the life force of anyone she touches. In mutants this means she can absorb their powers for a short while, often with uncontrollable results. In humans, this can mean coma. If Rogue touches someone too long, it can result in death for either humans or mutants. The length of time she has a particular power depends on how long she's touched a particular person, but at maximum it lasts only 24-48 hours.
Rogue has developed her powers through training so that she can take a certain amount of power and stop using it when she chooses. However, she still cannot touch someone without her powers activating.
Background: (I'm working on the assumption that everyone knows her past history from the movies).
After the events at Alcatraz, Rogue tried going home briefly, but that did not work out well. Her parents misunderstood her powers and her behavior, only seeing her as a misguided child who acted out, and constantly throwing the coma of the boy she kissed back in her face. She spent some time with Bobby when the Institute closed the months afterward, and then struck out on her own.
After some time, news of the Institute re-opening reached her, and she was the first student to return. She brought a sense of reality to the Institute reopening, as before that it had been only Erik and Xavier.
During the ensuing months, as students gradually began to drift back to the Institute, she provided a support system and inspiration to Xavier during the initial months, and met a young teacher named Shade. They grew to be close friends. She and Shade joined the Brotherhood without Xavier's awareness and engaged in minor covert operations under Magneto's direction.
Through the constant close contact and her own latent memories of Magneto through his forcing his power on her at Liberty Island, Rogue eventually developed a strange fascination with Magneto and entered into a brief affair with him after news of Mystique and Xavier's relationship reached him. During this time, she began taking voluntary Cure injections. Magneto disappeared for a time and that was the end of the relationship, and the beginning of Rogue leading the Brotherhood. She began working at the Hellfire Club to help with Brotherhood recruitment, although she also remained helpful to the Institute while living there, despite her Brotherhood affiliation. She engaged in the first battle against Sinister's men, and later quit her job at Hellfire when she quit the Brotherhood, all though her reasons for quitting are still undisclosed. During the battle she developed the ability to use latent absorbed abilities, but never attempted to use it further and so far isn't aware she can.
Rogue left the Institute in May 2007 after the first term around the same time that she quit the Brotherhood, which had stopped any work when Magneto disappeared and Shade quit previously, but returned in the autumn by Xavier's request and was allowed to fight with the Junior X-Men team.
After the battle, she left the Institute again for personal reasons and then returned to resume classes. Her friendship with Logan had helped her at the beginning of the last year, but with the elections and the brand new anti-mutant fervor, she left the Institute once again, feeling it unsafe to stay given her past exploits with the Brotherhood and obvious mutation.
Personality: Rogue tends to come off as shy because she can't touch, but generally that's the opposite of how she is. She is open and friendly, and depending on how well she knows you, she'll tease at you and sass you. She craves a "complete" relationship with someone, and tends to focus on the fact that she can't have that in a physical sense. She also wants acceptance, a problem that began after childhood events that pushed her away from her home, and because of that takes any form of rejection hard.
Because her powers including absorbing personality traits, if she's just taken power from someone she can appear to be acting a little strange to others.
Appearance: Rogue favors dark green and is often seen wearing it. Due to her powers she is never without elbow length gloves and rarely wears short sleeved shirts or short pants. Her hair is most often down, or when need be in a ponytail.
